Arite, I'm sure this has been touched on before, and I'm gonna get flack for even asking...but why does 411 mention that Austin came back last night after Raw went off? I saw somebody make a post mentioning this a few days ago and figured they were goofing. Has 411 trusted somebody they shouldn't have? Or did this actually happen according to more than one person?
I can't see why the hell Austin would make his comeback on a show that just ended (even if they were testing the waters, so to speak).
Well, Meltzer had it on his site too, if that means anything. Maybe they wanted to test what kind of reception they could expect to get with him? But really, who knows why they do the things they do ...
"A dope trailer is no place for a kitty!" - quote from Bubbles on the Trailer Park Boys, best Canadian made show ever! (yes, that's not saying much I know)
Makes sense to me- send the crowd home happy. Austin was there, was willing to come out- so let him. Who doesn't like little bonuses at the end of a show? Sure they are not "canon," but they are fun anyway.
The ending of Raw was kind of a "downer" in terms of live excitement. I would be much happier with a little extra bonus action than that ending had I paid to see the show...
Probably thought the fans would be dissapointed without Austin, so gave him to them to send them home happy. I think that's the best thing they could have done. You don't want him on TV before No Way Out, because his return is their big selling point. I think it all was very logical.
You know what's not logical? RVD not having a match on the PPV... AGAIN!!! Please, God, send him to SmackDown!!!
You thought watching Thunder was bad? Raw is like watching Thunder in re-runs.
I think they are hoping to get people to believe that they aren't just jerking everyone around with the stories about Austin returning. By having him come out at the end, they have a chance to get some buzz generated... and hopefully get the Austin spike that they want, instead of people playing the "wait-and-see" game in case it was all just a lie.
Hey, I thought it was pretty smart. I know Austin is actually gonna show now, it's not just internet speculation. I think.
Your analogy is similar to:
"They already have cars that you can drive, why not blenders?" "I can already write with my hands, why not my pancreas?" "They already have beef that I can eat, why not granite?"
Well I agree with most of the reasons for letting come out also i will add that letting him come out after the show is over doesn't really hurt his return being on No Way Out. I mean even if everyone at the show on Raw says "i'm not going to buy No Way Out now because I already saw Austin" it isn't going to hurt the buyrates all that much.
As for RVD, what is even more tragic is that Eddie doesn't have a match that I know of. And I don't think putting RVD on Smackdown is going to help him get a ppv shot since he's below Eddie. Actually i wouldn't put RVD over Lesnar, Angle, Benoit, Taker, Rock, Hogan, Eddie, Edge, Rey, Matt Hardy, Team Angle. So RVD wouldn't necessarily get more title matches for going to Smackdown.
I highly doubt it. I'd say a six-man with Edge/Benoit/Brock Vs. Team Angle as a whole is the more likely option.
"Here's the thing: I don't give a tupenny f*ck about your moral conundrum, you meatheaded shit-sack. That's pretty much the thing." Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill "The Butcher" Cutting, Gangs Of New York. You'd be surprised at how many statements this can be used as a response to.
Aside from all the reasons mentioned above, with attendance down (especially with the tv tapings not selling out), people might be more willing to pluck down the extra cash to go if there's a chance something legitimately unexpected may happen off camera. So something special has to happen after the show every so often to keep the buzz going. Its like a few months ago when the Rock returned for a house show. The WWE needs to do this more often to get people interested in going again.
I wouldn't mind seeing Crowbar again, pair him up with someone fitting and you could give the Tag division a nice shot in the arm... "Dollar, if you beer me."
