This used to be a pretty cool place. I enoyed slash wresling and this board. Lately there has been way to much emphasis on Political Correctness, and not enough on FREE Expression. I myself have had innocent statements perverted, read-into and misconstrued on this board in the passed few days. Even to the point of starting a thread expressing my dread over how Piper would use Hennig's death to shill his website - only to have it closed because someone felt that I was making fun of a man who died before his time. Folks, Folks, FOLKS! If ya disagree, skip to the next post. If ya have facts, argue with logic. Whatever you do, don't stoop to personal attacks, name calling or denying another person the right to an opinion even if you disagree. Voltaire said it best, "Though I may not agree with what you say, I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Off my soapbox now.

EAG,
I am well aware that this is private message board and not subject to the constitution(I did go to school). My question to you is simply this then, Who is to be the arbiter of "common sense" or "good taste" You? Me? The guy next door? CRZ? There are four different sets of rules right there. It's like defining pornography as something that offends community standards - there are as many different community standards as there are communities. I have always believed that everybody has a voice or no one has one. I am supremely offended that someone posts on this with the nom de plume Faggot. But hey - it's a free country. I am not gonna petition the Zim bros to ban the guy cuz his name is not pc. At least you argue with your head. I respect that

But the constitution doesn't guarantee common sense

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the Constitution doesn't apply here. Y'see, The Wienerboard is not a democracy, nor a monarchy, nor a nation-state - it is a dictatorship. Its policies, procedures and posts are shaped, molded, implemented and controlled by one man. While you are here, he controls everything you see, he controls everything you do, and even if you don't like it, there will not be a revolution to not televise.

That man's name is Christopher Robin Zimmerman. He is the World Wrestling Federation Champion. And he does not deserve to be treated like this. :)

OK, being over-PC about certain phrases, words, etc is one thing. I do like the "restrictive freedom" we have here on the board.

It's quite another thing to use a wrestler's death mere HOURS after the demise to make a grandiose and sweeping statement about another wrestler's reaction to the death, especially in the way that you did. Could you have waited, oh at least 24 hours, before talking about how other wrestlers will use the death of one of their own for their own purposes? I would be more than willing to debate this later, but certainly not now. We don't know the particulars of Curt's death yet. We don't know anything yet, so it was in poor taste (IMO) to write what you did. And it looks like others agreed.

Let it go please for now.

I don't know, I'd say the Wienerboard is more of an oligarchy. Yes, in the end, CRZ has supreme power, but He chooses to entrust some of it to trustworthy people, like Guru, or um, ... there are other people too. What about that infinitum guy? So really, they're like a board of directors, and he just happens to be the CEO.

This is the Zims board. They can and will decide on what we can say. I think they do a good job at letting anything in good taste go on here. Your banished thread was not in good taste in my opinion. You don't go on and start making sarcastic comments only a few hours after someone dies early in life.

I was actually more concerned with the silly-assed "Nuke Mecca" argument that started in the Ric Flair thread. Where I never posted, by the way. You can disagree with anything I say all ya want, I am a big boy. I can take it. Arguing is fine, saying shut the fuck up is another deal all together.

Well if you want to listen to the opinion of a newcomer, here it goes:

I like this board (and signed up after lurking around)because it is somewhat restrictive. I don't have to tell you about the amount of jackassery that goes on at most wrestling related boards. In this case erring on the side of being too restrictive is better than too much latitude because as that old cliche goes "you give them an inch they take a mile" ... or something like that.

Anyway, this is private property (consider it CRZ's other home or something), and when you're invited into someone else's home you're subject to their preferences.

Thanks for letting me in, I'll make sure I keep wiping my feet and bringing the rolls.

MagicDoc, do what I do: If you find you disagree with what people are saying on a particular topic in a relevent thread, just respond in the best way you can: politely, logically; basically, in a reasonably adult manner. If the moderators feel it is going too far or too off topic, they will let you know. But if you show you are trying to make quality responses to people (and part of this is knowing when to stop posting and let someone have the last word) then you will find the moderators will defend *you* when people unfairly attack you. Trust me, *many* people on this board disagree with my politics, my religious views, etc. Even CRZ hates much of what I talk about, I'm sure. But when I have been unfairly attacked (which is not that often), I've been defended.

Just try to do your best and you'll be fine. Good enough?

well, I shan't post any more replies in the thread itself, lest I be banished again. However, I will be willing to bash any and all who disagree via private message. I feel that this would be more in keeping with the rules, and less like to offend god, I mean Big Brother, no I mean that CRZ guy or his brother. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that's the ticket!

Wouldn't bashing people over private messenger a way to get yourself banished quicker.

Just use common sense, bro. This is a dictatorship, this is CRZ's board and you go around offending and trashing everyone you'll be gone. I was also offended that someone had the name Faggot BUT he has yet to offend anyone on this board therefore he stays. I don't think its the name its the way you act.

I have to agree and disagree with what you said, magicdoc. On one hand, I do think that was a tad insensitive to post that thing so soon after Curt Hennig's death was announced.

On the other hand, I do agree with your political correctness statement. I do not think that your thread should have been closed without letting you try and get your point across. I also agree that people do not try and understand where people are coming from and instead jump down their throats if there is something that they feel is "politically incorrect."

i.e.: A little while ago I mentioned that Triple H getting injured might be the best thing for the company and the only way to let the company evolve out of the stagnant mess it has been for years. Instead of people trying to look at it from all angles, they immediatley stated "He's wishing injury on someone! He's wishing death on Triple H! That is so wrong!". I feel they did the same to your thread.

So, I agree, and I disagree. Um... yeah.

You know, I tried to handle this privately with you.

You made a stupid post. Period. It was insensitive and lacked class. I saw no reason to leave the post open, and after talking with Chris later in the day I moved it to the banished folder.

You asked why your post was banished, and I explained it to you. I also told you that I wasn't about to apologize for my actions.

If you have a problem with any of this, I suggest you leave. If you don't have a problem with it, let it drop and continue posting here. If you post about this again, your account is banned.

I hope that's clear.

Let me guess:
The ZIM Bros are registered democrats, vegetarians, anti-death penalty, pro-choice members of PETA. At least that is what I have come to see is the profile of most pro-censorship folks. We conservatives get such an unfair rap!

I'm mostly conservative, and I don't have a bad rap.

(p.s. Liberals are more inclined to be pro-free speach)

Anywho, what you said was ill-concieved, and putting up such a fuss about it is only making that point stronger. At the very least, allow the people who really loved the guy's work and entertainment to have a day or two before you come in here and promote some cockeyed concpiracy theory about how Roddy Piper is going to use this in an angle.

Putting words in his mouth is just as bad is him actually saying it.
