Awful news to hear in the morning. I didn't catch the beginng of RAW so this is my 1st time hearing it. Hennig was also apart of the Hart Family, an unbelievable amount of tragedy for any family to go through.
How much is enough? Before there are some changes made in this business. These guys push themselves so hard and long mentally and physically. Sadly this is the only sport where several men die every year and and there is hardly any acknowledgement... If it were ring related, we wouldn't hear the end of it.
Some of my personal favorites that haven't been mentioned are:
The match with Midnight, it was disgusting and funny at the same time.
The 1st time he perfect-plexed Hulk Hogan and everytime he plexed the Big Show.
Really wasn't a "favorite" but very memorable when he swerved the Horsemen for the NWO. I was pretty pissed at him, but more-so at Sting for not saving Flair.
And my all-time favorite that probably noone else remembered is during an interview he was doing with Rick Rude. He said to Rude something to the effect of "I may have backstabbed alot of people, but you will never have to worry about me backstabbing you.." And they looked at the camara, then eachother, then at the camera, and back at each-other again. That was golden.
RIP Perfect One

**Hmm..I remember reading once he was family. In what way again?

** Oh, I remember that. That was a great moment. I loved how Hennig and Rude were true pals in WCW, you could tell they were close friends, not just for a story.
Damn..Hennig & Rude teaming against Owen & Bulldog. God is a ***** match hog!! :(

Steve Jackson! Games! Sluggy.com! Games! Phil Foglio! And err..Games!
I think Curt was married to one of the Hart sisters at one time (could still have been, I'm not sure). Is it time to say that the curse of the Hart Family has now surpassed the Von Erich curse? I mean, the similarities are now getting extremely noticeable.
Wow... I practically grew up on that man. From the three point shot to the golf game. To beating Bret Hart. To managing HHH. Wow. Well, the best thing I could remember about Curt, after all those promos and all those years, is at last year's Royal Rumble, when he was caught on the ropes by Austin and HHH, and he still managed to nail the gum swat (I put that on slo-mo to see that). I think that sums him up for me. Didn't have the AWA where I lived when he was there, but I know that his rep was on par with his run in the WWF, I think. Oh, and I still stand by my belief that he's one of the most underrated color commentators the WWF had. I have a couple PPV's with him on the mic and he was really cool. We'll miss you Curt, and hopefully all your old friends will be glad to see you up there.

I was thinking about it, and I think Mr. Perfect was the first heel I ever cheered for. I know I was a Demolition fan before their face turn, but so were most people and, hell, that's why they did the double-turn with the Powers of Pain. But Hennig was the first guy who was so awesome that I cheered him even though I wasn't supposed to.
I mean, nowadays, we all do that. Most of the more popular wrestlers online are heels, but when I was ten, that was unheard of. That's gotta count for something, don't you think?

So so sad. Mr. P was a god among men. He was my favorite wrestler in my teenage years. He was also the first heel I remember cheering for and I remember being genuinely pissed when he lost to Bret at Summerslam. He was one of the best in the history of IC champs and will be missed so much. His gum swat still is one of the coolest things there is. I remember at a house show he swatted the gum into the crowd and some kids got into a fight over it. Used chewing gum. Amazing. RIP Curt Hennig. Gone but certainly not forgotten.
Man, you could probably make a complete Wrestlemania lineup with all the people who've wrestled at Wrestlemania that are no longer with us. Just off the top of my head you've got two world champs (Andre the Giant, Yokozuna), four I-C champs (Rude, Hennig, Owen, Bulldog), two entire tag team champions (Owen/Yokozuna, Owen/Bulldog), and other stars like John Studd, Junkyard Dog, Adrian Adonis...okay, maybe that's not so much after all, but still beats the statistical average pretty handily.
The Mr. Perfect moments I'll always remember will be doing the Perfectplex in that Gameboy game and then doing it in real life to the Big Show last year. That was awesome. He was awesome.

And don't forget the other former IC champ, the Texas Tornado Kerry Von Erich. Also, the World's Strongest Man, Dino Bravo. They wrestled each other, actually at WM VII, I believe. I'd say Louie Spicoli, but I don't think he ever competed at a Mania.

The amount of young wrestler deaths is quite scary. You could go back and look at the card of WrestleMania V, and randomly pick five wrestlers from that card who are still living, and I bet that one of them will be dead within five years. Like I said, it just doesn't look like it's gonna' change anytime soon. And like I also said... You will be missed, Curt Hennig. This gum swat's for you.
You thought watching Thunder was bad? Raw is like watching Thunder in re-runs.
Damn. I've watched wrestling for years and very recently drifted away from it. I heard on the Don and Mike show this afternoon that Perfect was dead -- I still can't believe it.
My favorite Perfect match was Summerslam 1993. (the Wiener community gasps!) Mr. Perfect v Shawn Michaels (and Big Daddy Cool) for Michaels' IC Belt.
I was 20 years old and in love with Shawn Michaels. My brother was 13 years old and idolized Mr. Perfect (and replicated the gum spit and towel fling constantly -- much to his older sister's disgust at the time). We had been DYING to see this match.
Now, it had a cheap ending, and Perfect deserved to go over Shawn for the belt, and maybe you could argue that Perfect was headed down the ladder as Shawn ascended. And it wasn't even technically that great.
But that hot summer evening, we screamed and cheered and groaned and left the sofa and ended up watching the end of the match standing in front of the TV -- we were so nervous and hyper.
Hennig was a fantastic talent, with both an athletic flair and a knack for great promos. (LOVE the 300 bowling games!) Mr. Perfect came and went from the WWF with great frequency, but we always marked out when he returned and were disappointed when he left. My brother would tape Nitro JUST for Hennig.
I still head over Mom's house every month, and my brother (now 23) and I (now 30) watch the PPVs. And in my opinion, no match since has given me the same amount of rushing "Magic" that the Hennig/Michaels SS '93 match did.
Thank you, Curt, for the magic. ~Kim
**STILL mad that Steph McMahon is back on TV -- she was supposed to have been banned forever! **
I've just been really down about this subject since Monday. Its just sad that we keep losing such great stars at an early age. I know tons of casual fans that were shocked by the news of Mr. Perfect's passing.
He always was the highlight of the shows he appeared on. Even though he never was at the top of the card for long, he always put out for the crowd. A great heel... something that we've been lacking lately.
I'm really going to miss Curt dearly. I always loved his "Absolutely... Perfect" vignettes.
"Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig was one the best technically sound wrestlers ever. An awesome heel of the late 80's and 90's too. And most of all, one the best WWE InterContinental Champions of all time. He was truly PERFECT!!
REMEMBERING HENNIG(My personal memories)....
So of my foundest memories of Curt Hennig included the not looking free throw and the football throw.
The "throw the towel behind the back, then catch it" was priceless. But the best Curt Hennig thing was his "spit out his gum and swat it in mid-air" Yet again, priceless. The one he did at the Royal Rumble 2002 when he was in the ropes with Austin and HHH, was perfect.
My favorite Curt Hennig match was the classic Bret Hart/Mr. Perfect at SummerSlam. The cocky arrogant champion is beaten by the young hungry challenger. A true ***** classic.
I loved the Horseman turn, with the caged door slammed on Flair's head at War Games.
But my all time favorite memory of Curt Hennig. Happened during the RAP IS CRAP thing with the West Texas Rednecks. It was at GAB 1998, Curt Hennig walked up to Master P and asked him to autograph his CD for him. After Master P signed it, Hennig took it, broke it, and threw the pieces in Master P's face. PRICELESS, cause I HATE MASTER P!!
SO CURT HENNIG, REST IN PEACE!! You always will be PERFECT in mine and many other fans hearts. Thanks for the memories.
I've always been a Hennig mark ever since I first saw him as a WWF face-jobber in the early-80's. I'll never forget how close he and Eddie Gilbert came to upsetting Afa and Sika for the tag team straps. (I was about seven at the time.)
I was so pissed when he betrayed the Horsemen and War Games, that I pulled an "Austin" (quit following the business).
Thank you Curt for all the work you put in, and for all the memories you provided. RIP
