Yeah, there must have been a electrical type problem at the data centre, 'cause the box went down hard and didn't come back up until I logged in remotely to massage it a little.
(Tech version: it wanted a fsck and it warn't gonna budge 'til I did the single-user mode stuff yep)
This reminds me: sooner or later, I'll need to move the server from Santa Clara to San Jose - that'll be another hour or two of downtime. I'll try to schedule it well in advance so you'll all know that the server will be down instead of it being a big surprise.

Oh - come on. The random site crashes are so much fun. There is nothing like waking up at 5 am EST after a LONG weekend to visit your site for the first to discover that all you get is "HTTP 403.9 - Access Forbidden: Too many users are connected".
Because then you have that fun have to wait three hours because you are in VA and your hosting company is in CA and so you can just grumble a lot and answer the constant emails like "Why is the board not loading for me" and "Why did you ban my AOL account?"
OH! That reminds me, Phil - I couldn't get to DVDVR last night. ;-) (I was going to link to the joshi 100 but didn't get through. I'll do it in the next update, I guess.)
