I don't know that the Nation would mean racism.. but I can see the point that the WWF doesn't need that.. I also don't know if they'd be able to pull it off as well with Rocky on top.. the "Angry Black Power Gang" would lose a bit of steam that way.
Was the NOD (or any of those other "gangs") that great of an idea in the first place? Apparently someone thought so and hopefully now they've learned their lesson.
Damn this whole NWO return for spawning ideas about other possible stable returns. It's past time to forge ahead with somewhat new ideas and not with retooled old ones.
your always going to have stables..... because the storylines sometimes dictate them... example:... bigger face beats up smalled heel... heel turns to friends for help...
plus i think it's better with one or two stables around...
are you enjoying the dance of life?.... no?... change the music then.....
The Nation and the NOD were very different. Even before Owen joined, the Nation had really lost any and all sense of being a racial thing.
I would love a Nation Re-unification (say it out loud!).
My line-up would be Rock as the Leader & WWF champ conteder, D'Lo as the Sidekick and the IC Champ contender, Mark Henry as the enforcer, and Billy and Chuck as the tag-team. Hah! just making sure you're still reading. I'm actually not sure about the tag-team yet. Maybe Booker and Test, although both of them are too high up on the card for that kind of role really.
Actually, I think RVD would be a perfect fit for the Nation. He's got that cocky thing going on, and eventually him and Rock could have a great feud. So maybe RVD as the sidekick, and D'Lo and Mark Henry as the tag-team. Or D'Lo and RVD as the Tag-team, Mark Henry as the enforcer, and someone else as the sidekick/IC champ. Or RVD and D'Lo both as sidekicks, and Mark Henry and another big scary dude (Albert?) as the tag-team/enforcers.
That's it. Rock's the leader. D'Lo is the loyal sidekick. RVD is the brash young newcomer (sort of like Rocky's role in the old NOD). Mark Henry and Albert are the tag-team and the muscle.

Oh, I'm not saying I don't see the need for stables. I'm saying I dislike stables that've run their course only to be resurrected for whatever reasons....like the NWO or the Four Horsemen. There's no way a new lineup to these and other classic stables will capture that magic the originals had. New stables with new names and identities have to be created. Times have changed.
But the mystique that goes along with the name is what's important. I mean, a bunch of four guys in the "Joe Shmoe" group would suck. But if they'd call themselves, say "The four Horsemen" then they're claiming a part of the legacy for themselves.
I guess it's just a matter of what qualities people associate to a name. So, while the group could be totally different, if they use the name of a great stable, they're "borrowing" its greatness.
Pretty strange stuff, ne?

Did you actually read this over before you posted it? Holy cow.
Hey, I never said I had good taste in fantasy booking. Besides, that line-up fits my SSR (Successful Stable Rule) to a tee. Rock's the WWF Champ contender, RVD's the IC contender (and later the WWF contender sparking the feud), D'Lo's the Euro contender, Henry and Albert are the tag-team contenders.
Regardless, I think Henry and Albert would make kind of an entertaining power team. Don't ask why.
I'm warning you, further derisive comments will only compel me to elaborate on this theory And I might even have to start with my "Ministry of Darkness" re-unification theory. And you don't want to go there.

The MOD Re-Unification theory involves Kane (No Undertaker), the Acolytes, Edge, and maybe Raven. And maybe Chrisopher Daniels or Vampiro if I'm getting REALLY out there in terms of fantasy stable booking. Hey, at least in my NOD fantasy, all the members were under WWF contract.
