Random thoughts from this weeks episode:
Seeing pre-brain damaged Cyril talking to Cyril makes you wonder how great that character would have been in Oz. And no, I didn't really need to see the evidence of Cyril shitting himself. Taking him at his word would have been fine.
Psycho Nurse is now 2 for 2 on whacking the Barrio.
I think its time to start thinking Devlin will end the last scene of the show being welcomed as a prisoner to Oz.
My prediction that O'Reilly is half-black might have actually have been right. Bad decision.
Any sympathy for the Beecher character dies when he is dumb enough to violate parole. All the years of bitching about how all he wants to do is be there for his kids when they grow up flushed down the drain.
The Les Nesman character would have been better if it wasn't the last season.
Robson sure got forgiven a little to quickly by the brotherhood.
Now, slicing an inmates two achille tendons either gets a guard a month suspension or loss of 1 weeks vacation. Causing a prisoner to do excessive work with a bad back gets a guard fired. Something is wrong with that.

I'm pretty sure the Governor will get put in Oz at the end. I'm curious about Cutler leaving Alverez his money and estate. I doubt he'll give it all to Cutler's wife, though. And I'm wondering if Robson will be the one to turn on Schillinger and kill him at the end, and become king of the aryans. I doubt Ryan is half black, though. No way...

And why was there no follow-up at all after the supposed Morales killing? I'm not even sure he died now, as no one has talked about it.

Meanwhile, Beecher, how could you? Or should I say, Fontana how could you? It was awful to put Beecher back in Oz, even with the "clever" line Beecher got to say at the end.

I think the plan is to have all the regular characters die at the hands of crazy people. Said killed by psycho Jewish guy? Morales dying at the hands of psycho nurse woman? What now, will Cyril kill Ryan next week?

Prediction: Nathan returns the love gesture from Ryan, helping him to escape after Cyril gets killed.

The call is from heroism; will you accept the charges?

The Beecher character lost all sympathy, but I'm sure the hook was "I'm helping Keller", which considering the previews and the origination of the Keller/Beecher combo, leads to what CRZ called "Wheel of Fortune Booking".

I take a lot of what I said back. The last episode did a pretty good job of building to this one it turns out. This episode looks like the one before the storm really starts.

~ Beecher lands back in Oz and I'm not pissed. Keller's seduction tricks him once again and now it appears that Vern and Keller are going to team up one more time. It serves Beecher right for not staying far away from Oz. Keller taking away his freedom adds so much fuel to the fire.

~ We're one step closer to having the govenor convicted of murder.

~ How can you not like the fact that Rebado alomost got his clock cleaned.

~ Ryan's got the slow burn going again...and he's plotting. You're a crackhead if you think he's half black.

~ Schillinger and Robson back together again? Why, not Schillinger was hanging out with his own prag for awhile.

~ Is Timmy Kirk's mom setting our beloved priest up for a fall?

~ I liked the Alvarez/Cutler storyline. That was a damn fine idea that came out of nowhere. It's also a good way to bring Alvarez back into the mix.

~ The Shillinger Boys as narrator was a nice touch. Probably the best of the bunch thus far.

This is why I wouldn't be shocked if they teased O'Reilly as half black.
1) He was the one who was able to work closely with Adebisi and Company when he first arrived.
2) The Former Black Panther (his name slips my mind) talked about how he has fathered 16 children, and how all of them stay away from drugs. Coupling Ryan's mother with him in the past, could Ryan be mysterious child #17 who didn't stay away from drugs.
3) Remember the comment at the end to O'Reilly: Blame him for your mother's crime. Well, wouldn't Ryan's life be that crime?

What? Where are you coming from with this? He's shown no indication of even knowing about being half black let alone being half black. If I was half black and didn't know it would I have a better relationship with black people?

Oh, and I also want to predict that Timmmy Kirk's mother will turn out to be more evil than him, and Father Mukada will end up killing her in self-defense (or Jaz Hoyt will).

I'm adding Beecher to the Dead Pool. Probably by the hacks he wanted fired. Although I don't understand his quick turnaround back into Oz within the time frame.

(It had to take place within days, since Cyril's not dead yet)

I think they played a little fast and loose with the time frame this week. If Agemegnnon's fiance was pregnant one week, and the baby can stand the next, it means the Soprano method of telling time has taken hold of Oswald.

Remember, she was pregnant last season. And 6 months passed between the end of last season, and the beginning of this season.

Anyway of you guys think Cyril will get executed next week? Before I saw the preview, I was thinking they were, but after that cell pounding scene that they showed, I think the prisnors might protest.

Cyril's gone. If they can ice Said halfway through the season, they'll kill Cyril fwith 2 episodes to go.

I'm pretty sure the Governor will get put in Oz at the end. I'm curious about Cutler leaving Alverez his money and estate.

This is what pisses me off about Oz. People do such incredibely illogical stuff when it wouldn't be that hard to have it make sense. Why not have a throwaway scene with Cutler and Alvarez where Alvarez does him a favor or something? At least have a mildly plausible reason for this whole thing. It's the WWE booking, except I don't know how it comes off like that when they write and film the whole season before the first episode airs.

See Beecher/Keller for numerous examples of "people doing stupid, illogical stuff, but at least explainations and motives are given."

Did we ever get Carlo Martinez' flashback?

Good call on Kirk's mom. Ryan's mom's crime is going to something someone "down for something positive in the community" wouldn't want it to be known that he helped with. Dealing drugs or something.

I'll admit I'd do the librarian.

There's people out there that do this kind of stuff all of the time and get burned for it. Beecher's like the battered housewife that keeps giving one more chance.

Because that would take away the "why did he leave him his money" mystique?

OK, if they ever end up giving a reason for Cutler leaving Alvarez the money, you've got a point. Otherwise it's still stupid.

Also, here's an interesting call. I'm betting Goffrey Naima and Ryan's Mom have a kid together that ends up being in Oz (maybe White?), that they neglected or abandoned (maybe aborted even). Fits in with "Ryan's mom's crime" as well as Ryan's whole family/brother issues (especially with Cyril's death).

Come to think of it, we never got Arif's flashback either, although I read on the HBO website that his "A.K.A." is Jerome Van Dyke, which makes me think I just missed it. Usually the "A.K.A." for the Muslim's get announced during their flashback.

He took his kid from school. Kidnapping is what he's in for.

I can see that reasoning between Ryan's mom and him, but hopefully it's not White. I like White the way he is.

No, not Naima, current Muslim leader Zahir Arif.

I agree about White. While I would still (of course) slap this guy silly if I ever met him in real life, I think he's a great character that's also extrodinarily well-acted.

I was wondering about Arif's flashback. Are there any other characters who are missing theirs? My favorite would be a tie between Keller and O'Riely.

There's two types of flashbacks: the kind that come when you first meet a character, and the kind that you get after you've known the character for a while. A good flashback of the first kind helps establish and let you get to know the character quickly. A good flashback of the later kind doesn't screw up the character that you know and love.

My favorite was always Jefferson Keane's. I liked Morales' and Alvarez' also.

My least favorite was always Pancamo's. Drowning a live woman just didn't seem to fit in with his character at all.
