For the last two months, we heard something practically every day about the "negotiations" with Goldberg to bring him in, culminating in the meeting between Vince and Goldberg. Ever since then, there's been nothing at all. No news about anything. Seems strange to me. Perhaps a deal has already been made and Goldberg is on his way, but WWE has actually done a good job in keeping it a secret this time. So, I was thinking last night after the whole "Screw Austin!" thing with Bischoff about this scenerio. At the end of RAW next week, Vince comes to the ring to fire Bischoff for not delivering with Austin or for turning RAW around. Bischoff says he gave up on Austin, but has decided to bring in somebody else who's "bigger than Austin", and introduces Goldberg. Austin could then come back either on his own or by Vince himself to have an Austin/Goldberg match at WrestleMania rather than the supposed "lock" of a match between Rock/Goldberg. I think Austin/Goldberg is a bigger money match than Rock/Goldberg anyway. Thing is, if Rock doesn't face Goldberg at WM, who DOES he face?

Supposedly, the only reason they are even thinking about signing Goldberg in the first place is because The Rock wanted the match himself. Otherwise, he'd be without a "name brand" opponent for WM.

If it ever did end up Austin/Goldberg, Edge/Rock is an easy second place.

I really, really like that idea. A good clean win over someone the stature of Rocky would catapult Edge right up there in terms of main-eventing; it could even set up a face/face feud with Brocky over the belt. Fans would buy it.

That would be really cool. If they are going to have Goldberg/Austin or Goldberg/Rock they need to bring him in now and maximize the build up.

I hope Ohio State beats Miami.

I can't remember if I read this somewhere or not, but the other scenerio could be that Rocky beats Hogan at NWO showing no respect at all. Hogan realizes he's on his way out and can't beat Rocky himself, but wants to teach Rocky a lesson, so Hogan is the one who brings in Goldberg for the match at WM.

I was thinking at NWO Goldberg runs in and spears Rocky after a ref bump, giving Hogan the win. Setting up Rocky/Goldberg. Hogan says he beat Vince's puppet Rocky and now he wants Vince at WM, setting up Vince/Hogan.

Just about any WM match combination tends to leave somebody out....

a) Say Austin wrestles Goldberg. Who would Rock face, then? Edge isn't likely because of his alleged 'depush' over the past few weeks. Maybe Undertaker could 'retire' the Rock if Dwayne is indeed going Hollywood for a long while.

b) Say Rock wrestles Goldberg. Who does Austin face? Triple H would seem the natural choice, but then this burgeoning feud with Booker T would have to be dropped. It wouldn't be the first time that Booker gets screwed over, but....

I think the best scenario would be to have Triple H wrestle Booker T and Austin face the Rock. And Vince can save some money by keeping Goldberg at home.

Hmm... perhaps they could play Austin in a tweener-leaning-toward-face role, and program Stone Cold against Booker T after a WM victory over HHH?

Also, I thought I read elsewhere that Goldberg is actually interested in taking part in other programs after a potential match with The Rock. If that's the case, why not set up a brand extension-breaking feud between Goldberg and Austin after a while?

They could always have Benoit face The Rock at WM. I know we have theorized about Benoit facing Taker, but the whole "respect" issue could work with Rocky, too.

Color me confused because Edge has been getting somewhat of a depush on TV, yet Austin gave him a major rub in "his" RAW article by saying he's the only character that sprung up since he's been gone.
