I saw this interview over on Dave's site. Sting seems to have really changed his tune about going to the WWE. Here is an snippet:

"Sting said he has not closed the door on working for the WWE. He has talked to Vince McMahon over the last year and would entertain the idea. He said Wrestlemania last year was almost a done deal but it wasn't done in time. He wants to come in with a great storyline and give the fans true bang for their buck. Sting did say he will not go on the road full time. He would do TV once or twice a week and certainly a pay per view once a month."

So now his Religious reasons for not going the WWE are not an issue? I doubt he can get the Nash schedule he is looking for, but this is a total turnaround for him. Well, I guess he sees the Holy HBK on Raw, so he feels it's ok. I guess Ted Dibiase will be back as well.

If Sting and 'Your Next' come in with don't have to work house show contracts, will the point be reached where its better off to cut losses and not even run house shows? If those two are included, you'd have them, Hogan, Austin, Kavana, HBK, Nash and Steiner as working none to very few house shows.
Had to laugh about the 'well written storyline' comment. Why does Sting think he is so special that he'll get something no one else in the WWF/E has had for the past few years?

Did Sting and Lex's gym burn down or something? First Flexy wants back in to Vince's bemusement park, now Stinger?

Scoff all day long, I'd love to see Sting in one last run, especially if given the 'storyline' he'd be looking for. Unlikely, sure, but it's Sting! Think about the production values behind HIS run! I'd love to see if. Hope it happens.

Also remember, its been almost 7 years since Sting had a really good match, a decade since he had a great match. All you'll be getting now is another guy who is a shell of his former self, and right now Vince should be concentrating on guys with long term upside rather than a possible short term impact.

A shadow Sting, in my book, is a million times better than a shadow Steiner, and that guy gets a 'main event' match at the Royal Rumble.

I agree Sting hasn't had his best matches in some time, but he's a guy who some, myself included, always wanted to see make a run in the WWE. Put him in a feud with 'Taker, and I'd buy it.

i personally don't like the idea of sting coming to the wwe. he's one of the only major professional wrestling stars in the u.s. to have never wrestled for vince mcmahon (or at least, not to my knowledge), and i think him coming over to the wwe would just make the wwe look more and more like the last refuge for has-beens, much like the wcw of the mid 90s.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sting in the WWE. There are a couple of people I'd like to see him get in the ring with. If motivated, I think he'll pull out a good match. I'd also like to see him because, as others have said, he's never been in the WWE before.

He should, but he's not. So, while he's at signing guys with "brand name value" and pushing big muscleheads like Batista, he might as well go ahead and sign someone with some character and charisma who can - at the very least - act and get feuds over. I think Sting is at least capable of that.

I don't think Sting's arrival would make WWE seem like the "last refuge for has-beens." In fact, his arrival would be a surefire ratings booster, since, as others have pointed out, fans would be attracted by the novelty of seeing Sting in a company where he's never worked before.

Of course, I'm biased because I'm a big-time Sting fan. But hey.

I would love to see Sting show the Rock the hard way to apply a sharpshooter/deathlock.
If it were to happen I see it as nothing but a good thing. I know plenty of WCW fans who don't watch wrestling anymore and would certainly flip it over to see Sting. Or Doug Dillinger.

I am disappointed. Zenk always said Sting had no integrity and him talking to Vince about coming in while at the same time talking about how heinous the WWE is, shows he has NO integrity. None at all. I would think he still has $$$$ from the WCW days, so he isn't broke, but he will betray his beliefs to work for Vince? Sad.

I'd love to see Sting in WWE. He has something that the most recent WCW guy (Steiner) doesn't have....more than one dimension to him. I agree that Sting hasn't had his best matches in a long while. However, I think that the downfall of WCW had a lot to do with it. There was no direction or leadership within the company for years, along with no decent stories or wrestling matches. Sticking there through the thick and thin, Sting probably got fed up with it and had no ambition to put on a good show, and just stayed there to fulfill his contractual obligations. They even went so far as to put it into an angle with the "Sting lost his heart" stuff with Vampiro.

If he has a story, and works for a company with some organization (leadership) to it, he would most likely be "into it" again. The fans would be into him as well. It wouldn't even take long for him on the physical side since he's been working for WWA for a while now.

I would really dig Sting vs. Undertaker.

That's total bullshit redsoxnation, Sting has been in plenty of great matches in the last decade and the past 7 years. He wrestled Goldberg to one of his first decent matches in 1998. He had a one of the best televised matches of all time with DDP in April 1999 and another good one with Page in the spring of 1998. He was in the four way dance at Spring Stampede 1999 and had another good match with Flair the night after. He had great matches defending the world title against Bret Hart and Chris Benoit in his last world title run in 1999. And he he had a great best 2 out of three falls match with Jeff Jarrett on Thunder in 2000. If you want to say all those matches sucked, go right ahead.

I thought his last match on Nitro was rather entertaining against Ric Flair. It was defineatly good TV at the very least and it seemed to close the book on the long lasting Flair/Sting feud. If he does come in, I'd like for him to NOT go to RAW cause that would just ruin it for me with Flair already on there.

Not as long as NWA-TNA keeps bringing in the likes of Dusty Rhodes and The Rock and Roll Express.

it bothers me how everyone always bitched about wcw not bringing in any new guys, and instead just taking the old wwf guys. and now they bitch about the wwe not making new stars. while at the same time, salivate about the arrival of an ex-wcw star who, frankly, is old.

i like a lot of guys who aren't around anymore, but i don't want them on my tv. i want to see tomorrow's stars being created, not the twilight years of yesterday's product.

You'll get zero argument from me about the need for new stars; Edge has been waiting in the on-deck circle for wayyyyyy too long now without them pulling the trigger.

HOWEVER -- if recent history has shown us, and yes, it has (read: Hogan, Nash, Hall, HBK, Steiner, and possibly Austin and Goldberg), that the WWE is in a current "bring back the old guys for one last hurrah" mode, then Sting is one guy, no matter how old, I'd love to see back for his last hurrah. Might be selfish of me, but it's Sting.

And Sting could always feud with Edge too, completely rocking that house.

I love Sting, but I'd rather not see him come to the WWE. I feel that way for some of the above-mentioned reasons, including not wanting to see him deteriorated and old, but I also feel he is so synonymous with WCW, it would almost be wrong to see him on WWE TV.

I believe the payoff was supposed to be Starcade '97 with elevating Sting to be the major attraction into the next decade and make the so-called "WWE Invasion" fail due to WCW being the superior brand.
