-- Is Shania auditioning to be a villain in one of the Matrix movies? Good grief.
-- Do we really need all those "moshers" standing on a field that will be needed in about 10 minutes?
-- Will Hogan keep that Pepsi monkey down, since he used Flair's theme?
-- Or was the monkey trying to be Bob Sapp?
-- The Hulk CGI did not look good. But Jennifer Connelly did.

I would have been impressed with the Jordan commercial, if I hadn't seen it already leading up to the game.
It does seem to be a lackluster group. Beer, beer, beer. Blah, blah, blah.

No one mentioned the very first commerical with the football horses...I thought that was very funny, but nothing like the good old days of budweiser lizards and frogs...and where is the mountain dew this year?
Hall: "Hey maybe we could have a few beers with the boys..." Nash: "I don't think thats such a good idea..."
When did the Matrix commercial come on? was it during half-time? That was the only one i wanted to see. Dammit...
I wanted to share this also. I was working tonight and we set it up to transmit the game to some of the ships in the Persian Gulf. Made a lot of guys happy, to be able to see the game AND the commercials...lol.
Ya know how we do it, big balling and big blingin'....
The pre-show was better than the halftime show, though I enjoyed No Doubt's performance (but "Just a Girl"? Come on...)
Not much else in the way of good commercials.
I'll just edit to say that I love love loved the Office Linebacker commercial. That is all.
(edited by Excalibur05 on 27.1.03 0313) RAW Satire 1/20 Buffy 7.12 gets a 7.0 There was a lot of good stuff mixed in with some of that mediocre dialog.
After the "Our daughter smoked pot and now we're going to be grandparents" commercial, the entire bar erupted in boos. I think that was the biggest reaction during any commercial or game segment of the night, except for the zebra/offical and the FedEx commercial. Seemed like the commercials weren't even trying. I've got to call my favorite as the "zebra" spot - so I'm a bitter Penn State fan, sue me.
We were disappointed by the number of coming-attraction type ads during the show. Most of the commecial breaks for awhile started with a movie ad. It just seems like a bad omen for a movie when Ben Affleck + spandex doesn't even get a huge 'pop'.
Anyone else notice that Shania was lip syncing? There was a part where she went into the crowd, and just as the words started up again, she was smiling and the singing started again, without her mouth ever changing position.
The spot of the night was the Budweiser "Ref Review" commercial.
"That ref is a jackass. No, actually a zebra."
And I was pleased with the Hulk commercial. I know a lot of people won't like it but at least we don't have a "Godzilla '98" situation where they totally fuck him up. At least he's green and has a bowl haircut.

Everyone was lip synching tonight until No Doubt came on. The Santana-Michele Branch song(whatever the hell it's called) was right from the CD...Including the fade out at the end.
I've always been fond of the Clydesdale commercials -- glad to hear that it wasn't just me who liked it. Besides the ones already mentioned, I also rather liked the baboons on a hot day at the zoo conspiring to catapult themselves over into the polar bear pond (Sierra Mist).
And am I the only one that isn't the least bit interested in seeing promos for movies that aren't going to be out for 6 months or more? (Drives me crazy in the theatres too.)
edit: Baboons are not orangoutangs. Orangoutangs are not baboons. I knew that!
The Hulk is gonna be bigger then Spider-Man, mark my words.
Best commercial, though, has to go to the Nike one with Terry Tate: Office Linebacker sacking all the office workers. We were 'ROFL' for the entire game segment after that break.
The Sierra Mist monkey commercial also got a lengthy reaction from us, but I attribute this to the mass quantity of alcohol we'd consummed since 3pm.
Also, the Bud Light dredlocks ad was just stupid. I couldn't stop laughing.
Well, it's 3:30 here and there are STILL people driving around honking the horns and setting off firecrackers, if this goes on much longer, I might have to dig out the shotgun and scare the shit out of the neighborhood again.

It must not have worked too well, as it was a Reebok spot. :>

1. Budweiser(Clydesdales) 2. FedEx(Cast Away) 3. Sierra MistMoney) 4. The Matrix
The first thing I thought of when I saw the Hulk commercical was how awful the animaiton actually looked like. That's not a good sign. Of course, I will immediately go see it when it comes out, along with the othe 25 sequels we got spots for last night.
"Present day writers, especially of the Socilaist school of thought- base their various theories upon one common hypothesis: They divide mankind into two parts. People in general- with the exception of the writer himself- from the first group. The writer, all alone, forms the second and most impportant group. Surely ths is the weirderst and most conceited notion that ever entered a human brain!" - Frederic Bastiat, The Law, 1850
Terry Tate - Office Linebacker - Click Here - gets my vote - damn I wish he worked here.......the clown drinking the beer was a little disconcerting.........Michele Branch's mic wasn't live until the final Santana song - "Foo Foo" - but who really noticed with the way the cameraman was focused on Beyonce........and as long as Jared continues to appear on Subway ads - I will continue to boycott Subway

Bruce Almighty -- I'm sorry... but a dog going to the bathroom is *much* better animation than the Hulk.
Matrix -- Nuff said.
Budweiser and: Clown drinking through Ass -- "Can I get a hot dog?"
Horse/Zebra -- didn't get the replay part until you see the Clydes all lined up and the replay booth. The jackass/zebra line was cute.
Sierra Mist and the Baboons -- Monkeys in commercials rule. I don't care if they're selling beer, pop, cars... they rule.
Terry Tate: "If it's game time -- it's PAIN TIME~!"
More comments:
*Was it me, or did Madden mention Monster.com during the first half. If so, was it me, or didja think that was an ad? Madden isn't that smart just to think of the company.
*Bon Jovi seemed like they lip-sync'ed as well during the post-game, but when your mosh pit is Bucaneers cheerleaders, I am *not* complaining.
*SNL's halftime was pretty good; Tom Vejada was right... the Hardball sketched killed, and until the primaries end, Tracy Morgan is money as Al Sharpton. Jimmy Fallon, however, is starting to near overkill with his musical performance. Will never had to go to a band to help him out.
