Vince plans on bringing in the nWo as heels. I spotted just as many nWo signs on Monday night as I did Rock, Austin, or HHH signs.
How in the hell are the nWo supposed to get over as heels?
So, WWF, if there was say, God forbid, a comet hitting the earth, or a nuclear holocaust, or chemical or biological attack, or a bomb, or the four horsemen of the Apolycolaspe come. All I have to do to survive is watch the WWF?
team them up with vince and/or stephanie... then have them kick the crap out of all the faces for a little while.... say rt before a win causing a DQ... that'll get them over...
Dont you wish that you were me??? no?.... i've got two words for ya!
Show highlights from nWo Souled Out '97 on Raw. That's embrassing, y'know. Embrassing like yer dad dancing at Christmas to the novelty hit song. THAT embrassing. That would stop any sane person wearing nWo T-shirts.
I think the best way to get the NWO over as heels is to have them actually do heel things. No surveys. No "2 sweet". Just some good old fashion heel actions like running down the crowd, cheating to win, and massive beatdowns on popular babyfaces.
"Wanna see how far I can go. Test my patience, see what I know. Just not happy with nothing to do. Getting bold when there's more than two." - Cro-mags.
The reason the nWo was cheered in WCW, even though they were supposed to be heels, is that they were simply considered too cool. They'd play to the crowd and stuff with the survey, 2-sweet, all their pretty little hand motions and the whole bit. If they ceased doing that, trashed the fans at every opportunity, and beat the hell out of popular babyfaces, they could be universally reviled...
Perhaps. Then again, the fans have been known to cheer heels simply because it's considered cool to do so. Therein lies the problem-- a lot of heels are as over as the babyfaces.
“I didn't say it would be easy, Neo. I just said it would be the truth.”
I think that the nWo could get over as heels, even with the cutesy hand signs, if their actual actions are mostly heel. If they powerbomb stone cold through tables then spraypaint his back.. if they tear off the People's Eyebrow.. if they pose for pictures while standing on the crotch of HHH.. I want them to be hideously evil heels on their return, not just 'bad guyz' or tweeners.. but that may just be my take.
If they come out as bad-asses, then this angle has a chance to run for a while. But you can't tell me for ONE SECOND that Nash or Hogan wants to come back to be a heel. They are egotists of the highest order.
Without a doubt, the crowd will pop the roof off the first second one of them shows up. If they (and I mean Vince, too) have the best interests of sports entertainment in mind, the nWo comes back as true heels, doesn't give a damn about the crowd, and they squash some fan favorites and get a big name to defect to their side. The way the angle reads now is that they are coming back to -KILL- the WWF. If they mug for the crowd for an INSTANT, then Vince has just written off Stephanie's and Shane's inheritance. This'll run for six weeks and die again, just like the WCW Invasion, the Alliance, and now Flair's return.
For the nWo to get over as monster heels, all they have to do is pull a really nasty beatdown on Ric Flair. Right now, he's loved AND he's old -- if nWo beat him up really bad, maybe slap his wife or daughter in the process, they're over. Forget aligning with Vince or random babyface beatdowns; that's not enough to pull this off.
Who says the NWO are going to be the heels? There are a million ways to make them the faces. Look at the Invasion restructuring. #1 rule of wrestling: You can always turn anyone face or heel. It's KEEPING them a face or heel that's the trick in my book.
My guess is that the WWF is looking for a shot in the arm. They'll throw the NWO out there for a little while, see how they're received, and structure the story accordingly.
Also I think Ric Flair is going to turn heel pretty soon. Flair in his comebacks has always played the "living legend" babyface for a little while because he had to, and then turned heel. Remember him and "R.P.V.P.?"

I looked at Bash at the Beach '96 last night and when Nash and Hall came in for the match, they got cheered even after all the dastardly deeds they did building up to the match. People are going to cheer a happening. Especially a big happening. When HHH turned on X-Pac and the rest of DX at WM15, people were cheering. So it is about what you do after the initial debut to make them boo or cheer is what counts. But if the cheers keep up, then they become faces in the battle against Mr. VKM.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.

They're aligned with Vince. Hello!

No, as I recall Flair hasn't been able to get a single fan to boo him in about a decade
Remember him and "R.P.V.P.?"
No, actually. Refresh my memory?
Ambition is just an excuse for people who are too stupid to be lazy.
That terrible headache that suddenly came up and the notion that I wanna talk about local sports teams make me think it has something to do with Hot Rod Wasn't RPVP Roddy Piper Vice President? Where he and Flair feuded over control kinda? I forgot the details though..
"...And I use that to f*ck them some place fairly uncomfortable." "What, like the back of a volkswagen ?" -Mallrats
Flair was the heel commish and Piper was the face commish (or whatever, I think Flair's title was president). They feuded for control and Piper swerved EYERYONE!!!, aligned himself with Flair and became the Vice-President.
Flair has certainly got people to boo him in the last decade. Maybe not on the Internet, but in the ring.
But regardless, he's certainly played the heel a lot more than the face. Heck, the second to last WCW show he was still a heel.
As for the N.W.O. being aligned with Vince
a) Vince has played the face before. Invasion? Steph Kidnapping? He hasn't played it very well maybe, but that's another issue...
b) First show with the NWO. Scott Hall "thanks for those guarenteed contracts...Sucker!" Nash: Powerbombs Vinnie Mac through a table. Hogan "Now that we got ourselves in, we're taking over from Ric Flair, VInce McMahon, whoever! We aren't aligned with anyone but the NWO!"
That's just one (very bad) scenario. I'm sure the writers can come up with a lot more.

The NWO are going to be cheered by some fans no matter what they do. They can keep the sing a longs, the hand gestures, everything as long as they do one thing. Beat the hell out of everyone. The moment the Rock gets pounded down, the cheers will die out and in comes the boos. I also say that the best way to ensure the NWO gets boos is to bring in Bischoff. Eric Bischof knows how to piss off a crowd. Every WWF fan hates him so keeping the NWO heels wouldn't be a problem. The only question is would Eric's ego allow him to be brought in, only to be eventually humiliated by Vince?
how about this: Flair signs over his 50% to Vince. Vince then gives Hogan, Nash & Hall a suitcase full of cash and tells them, "Well, boys, I won't be needing you after all. Here's some money, get lost, have a nice day." But Hogan tells Vince,"You think we give a shit about your money? We're gonna destroy the WWF anyway -- for fun!" And then Vince has to crawl back to Flair and beg for his help to get rid of the nWo.
