Am I the only one who thinks Vince missed the memo stating that the Soviet Union and its method of suppressing all information failed? All of this happens, and Flair mysteriously is not on the Horsemen Confidential. At some point, it no longer becomes coincidence and rumors and starts to turn into facts. Of course, it is funny that a member of the Clique who helped destroy the fabric of kayfabe with the MSG incident is now bitching about the lack of kayfabe.

The feeling is that between Tough Enough, Confidential and now the Ross Report, WWE fans have access to too much inside information from the company and that is hurting their interest in the product."

"HHH in particular".

Fuck that - they throw those into almost every news item. Even if they ain't true. There just as well may have been 10 guys not liking the idea of giving too much away. And they could have been people like Benoit and Angle too, we don't know. It just sounds good to say 'particularly that HHH guy'. Fuck that report.

I agree with them. Look at how many times we bitch about something that hasn't happened yet. We go into something expecting it to fail and it hurts the enjoyment of the product.
I also believe that Vince is purposely leaking vague or incorrect "news" to the net writers. Like this whole deal with the Raw anniverary not being written yet and how no one has been contacted to appear. Hook, line, sinker... It's called the element of surprise and it's something that's been missed greatly since Bischoff walked onto Raw last summer. Remember folks, these are carnies. They're in the business of "working" the fans.

The WWE could put on 2 hours of Kevin Kelly sitting on the toilet reading a phone book, and I'd still watch next week.

So that is the latest excuse. Economy, Brand Extension, and now add the Ross Report to reasons the WWE is having a hard time. No one will just admit that the shows have not been good and therefore, people don't want to watch or buy a ticket to see it. Until they stop blaming everything else and fix the shows, business will not get any better.

I don't know there might be something in it. We all no wrestlings a work, just as we know David Copperfield didnt walk through the Great Wall of China, but once you know exactly how somethings faked, you start to become increasingly critical of it. You notice all the little faults rather than being captivated by the overall product.

Granted the quality of the programs has deteriorated (though RAW has improved lately IMO) but there is a certain logic to this argument. Pool-boy posted a thread on a similar subject in the Guest columns board which basically said the more he became a smark the less he enjoyed wrestling.

The element of surprise ... Like when an indy promotion doesn't announce they have a wrestler like say Curt Hennig on the show and then bring him out as a surprise to "surprise" the 30 people that showed up?

The element of surprise was only marginally effective during the Monday Night Wars. Now it's just plain dumb not to hype up that a major name is returning or appearing. Especially when people aren't casually tuning in every week.

The Bischoff surprise was so effective wasn't it? I mean wow they sure shocked the small hardcore net audience that watches anyways. Haha, dang, they got us, they must be raking in the cash now...

Or maybe the news item is a buncha bullshit because SOME people have a problem letting go of all things HHH. I mean, OBVIOUSLY he HAD to be involved...he's banging Vince's daughter! He probably decides what breakfast cereal Vince eats in the morning, and which brand of tooth paste will keep his breath the most minty fresh!

Pfft.

Hey, I've been responsible for some shameless HHH defending ( if such a heinous crime can ever be called shameless) on these boards, but I'm pretty sure when I first read this story there were actual quotes attributed to this rather than the usual "Random RAW wrestler X was seen not looking ecstatic with life the universe and everything. It is believed HHH may have been more than partly responsible for this" crap we get.

To quote my good friend, "Since when is Oklahoma football important backstage news?"

Man, now we won't get those great "insider" tidbits, like they're expecting a Royal Rumble return for Rhyno after he recovers from neck surgery. Or how Ross knows the market's soft right now, but we can rest assured that everyone backstage is striving to give us the best possible product.

And if they're worried about "exposing" the business through the Ross Report and Tough Enough, they should understand that to most of us, wrestling is like Santa Claus. We all may have thought it was real at four years old, but we wised up pretty quick.

Is there any more evidence NOT pointing to HHH possibly being something of a backstage politician than there is evidence that does point to this? Because a lot of people sure seem willing to dismiss reports based on just as little or less evidence than the reports themselves have.

1Bob is rather notorious for slipping the HHH into negative stories, so the grain of salt count goes way up, yes.

Also, consider...no, wait, I'll start another thread on that...

I know this is awhile back, but I couldn't agree with this more. I realized it again last night on Raw, when Vince's 'announcement' had nothing to do with Austin being in the Rumble. Therefore, he WON'T be in the Rumble. Why bring Austin back for the Rumble and not announce it? What benefit does that have to the low buyrate suckers who buy it vs. the casual fan? And that's just one point.

The element of shocking swerves and surprises is currently MIA. And it will be some time before it comes back. It would take a HUGE surprise to sway casual fans to come back (i.e. calling their friends and saying, "you won't believe what happened! You have to watch Raw next week!"), and I don't think those surprises exist anymore. Maybe Sting. Maybe Goldberg. And even then, those are temporary.

First, surprise does not automatically mean "return of Wrestler X on TV".
Second, my post was about the WWE keeping future plans from leaking out and hurting our enjoyment of the product. Bischoff's return was used as just an example, since we were all totally shocked.
Next time, at least have the courtesy to stay on topic when you nitpick me.

Ah yes, good ole Santa, i used to be so excited about the idea of Santa coming to my house and bringing me presents, and then it was ruined when I found out he wasn't real, I was crushed.

As a matter of fact, it was all Triple H's fault, he went around my neighborhood telling all the kids Santa isn't real because Santa was getting a bigger crowd reaction than him.
