We saw the TV guilty pleasures on the random forum. Time to own up. I'll go first.
*deep breath*
Although I am an obnoxiously huge snob when it comes to artistic devils like corporate rock and singer-songwriters of the 70s and 80s (aka "wuss music"), I own "The Essential Journey" double CD and altogether way too many Gordon Lightfoot mp3s.
Hm. I feel a little better now. Anyone else want to get something off their chests? Bonus points to the first non-drummer who admits to liking Rush.
Actually, my first concert ever was Rush at the Worcester Centrum. I believe the opening band was Mr. Big.
Holy crap, that was the Presto tour in 1989 or '90 -- that was my first real concert too (not at Worcester though).
Guilty pleasures? I have to have a weekly Barry Manilow fix, I've watched the video for Oops I Did It Again waaay too many times, and I've just discovered that I can still sing along to pretty much the whole of Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss.
I feel guilty about it all ... except for the Rush luv.
I hate the army and I hate the RAF I don't wanna go fighting in the tropical heat. I hate the civil service rules And I won't open a letter bomb for you. ------------------------------------------------ Joe Strummer Lives!

nobody ever got laid, cause they were wearin a Rush t shirt.
My guilty pleasures:All things Avril, Kylie M., and for some damn reason Ray Steven's "Help me make it through the night" is one of my favourite songs ever. Am I alone here?

Surely you needn't feel guilty for THAT. Hell, I can probably sing along to all the Slayer albums up through Divine Intervention with relatively little difficulty - except for Hell Awaits. Now that song takes skill.
As for my guilty pleasures, I'd have to go with Deborah (Debbie) Gibson and Stacey Q. When other people are home, those are the only CDs I put headphones on for.
Ha I'm a Kylie and Avril fan as well AngryJohnny, recently that damn Daniel Bedingfield song is stuck in my head.
I also like a lot of non metal 80s music like Dead or Alive and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I find myself enjoying Elton John a bit more then I think my demo should
DJ Ran: What's wrong with Gordon Lightfoot? Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald is one of the coolest 'depressing' songs ever written. Journey DOES suck though. Also, I used to listen to Rush AND I got laid back in high school because of it.
Gavintzu: My roomate bought the Copacabana DVD and I got busted watching it one night when he came home.
ManiacalClown: Meat Loaf can do no wrong.
My embarassing music tastes consist of...
the Time-Life Classic Country collection which I sat through that fucking infomercial 6 times before finally ordering it.
Pizzicato Five which I don't know ANYBODY who likes them other then me. I've tried turning others on to them, but so far, none of my friends can take more then one or two songs by them at one sitting.
and lastly, just about EVERY musical I've seen or heard stuff from, I end up getting the soundtracks. Most recently, I got dragged to Chicage with my friend Chris and I hopped out the next day and got the CD. I ALSO finally found the soundtrack for NEWSIES which I was quite ecstatic over.
Michael Jackson, Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Britney, Avril, some Kylie, and as much of an anti-boy-band guy I am....I like Justin Timberlake's solo stuff so far. I also have a fondness for some "nu-metal."
I have also seen Jackson, Manilow, and Diamond in concert :::::hanging my head:::::
(edited by gargs on 13.1.03 1609) "I used to date a homeless girl. That was pretty cool. You could drop her off ANYwhere. 'Date's over...get out.'"
(edited by Guru Zim on 13.1.03 1534) Your analogy is similar to:
"They already have cars that you can drive, why not blenders?" "I can already write with my hands, why not my pancreas?" "They already have beef that I can eat, why not granite?"
Non-drummer who LOVES Rush, and it ain't a guilty pleasure, you Gordon Lightfoot-listening bastard! :-) By the way, it's true about listening to Rush preventing you from getting laid (yeah, THAT'S my problem).
As for guilty pleasures, let's see, I used to be a big Korn freak back in the day, and I may have even liked Limp Bizkit. I used to also like Marilyn Manson.
A more current one would probably be the two Nickelback songs I've heard and that "Hero" song on the Spider-Man soundtrack. Also, that "I'm on the outside" song by Staind. Maybe because a buddy of mine makes me feel guilty about that stuff constantly.
As for what I feel the guiltiest about: I acknowledged that some Creed song actually had an almost decent guiter riff!! AHHH!!! Don't worry, that singer still sucks (Phew! Had to get out of there with some dignity!).

And I find myself tolerating N*Sync more and more...
I seem to be too... what the hell is going on here? Sure Backstreet still makes me sick and Timberlake's solo album works best as a coaster but things like that song talking about dirty pop... I think I know the lyrics to that! WTF? Why is legal drinking so far away?

Well actually this week I was over in scenic Lansing, MI but whoever heard of Lansing Rock City? Not this guy! I arrived in Lansing from Detroit at around 6:00pm, just in time for happy hour at Mac's Bar (macsbar.com)
