I do think it's dumb that he wasn't. But I also think the entire thing is being overrated by everyone - I mean, it's JUST a bunch of clips to a Kid Rawk song. It was good, but it didn't strike me as being horribly great. Maybe I should watch it a second time and it'll grow on me, but I've seen clip packages that I thought were done much better, like the ones ECW did before November to Remembers in 1995 and 96.
Now, I never saw the clip package(s) in question here, but I find it hard to believe ECW's production crew could have put together one anything close to the WWF's normal work, much less one that provoked the nostalgia this one did.
I've only saw the clip once, but I was trying to name as many guys as I could as they popped up, and I think one of the guys was Ivan Putski...I could be wrong though.
Bah, how dare they not include the greatest jobber in the history of our great sport, the one, the only, the legendary... SD "Special Delivery" Jones, who was on TV a hell of a lot more often than Hulk was during the 1980's, that's for sure!
"Come to the Dark Side... You Know You Want To!" The Evil Buddha, spreading Alcoholism, Bad Humor and Chaos since 1971
I admit, I wasn't paying THAT close attention to the clip (I hate that trashy bastard Kid Rock and tend to take a piss break everytime he -or his music- appears on tv), but I didn't see the REAL Rock, Don Muraco and Tony Garea, two great title holders from the old school.
A friend in need is a friend indeed, but a friend with weed is MUCH better!
---=---:---=--- [Look up a line] Wow, that belt looks like crap... I'll take it and carry it around for years and see if people can take it away from me... What? What was that? You mean even THIS belt doesn't matter! What? I'm insulted! Get away from me you... you... defiler!

Bret was featured a number of times: As the "leader" of the new WWF Generation (coming down the aisle), winning the WWF championship at WM X, spitting in Vince's face at Survivor Series 97 and spelling out WCW in the air at SS97 also.
Now, if he could just combe back live, my life would be complete

I wish I knew a place on the net that has them to download or something, but I don't. ECW always had great video packages back in the day, showing that all you really needed to do was throw all the right clips together to a nice song and acceptable graphics and you could make magic. The N2R packages were set to the Guns n Roses song 'November Rain', and that song (which added about another 5 levels of emotion to it, and I'm not even a GnR fan) and the way the clips were played out in order, showing everything important that lead up to the N2R matches, made the entire thing (the card that was about to be held, the storylines in general, and all of the ECW product) seem special. Even the crappy matches were made to seem like something you'd want to give your attention to - I mean, I remember in 96 the package actually made me want to see Bubba Ray Dudley vs. D-Von Dudley, and at the time neither guy had been wrestling an entire year and they were both about 1/10th as talented as they are now (and I do NOT think they are particularly talented). To reference it to the Limp Bizkit video done after WM last year, I think the ECW ones were at least twice as good.
Not to make this a pissing contest between old ECW and today's WWF or anything, though. With all the money the WWF must be pouring into production and how far production value potential has come since then, I honestly think it could've been better - if they really were wanting to blow us away with nostalgia. If they did, show me Hulk slamming Andre, Backlund losing his title followed by a clip of Bret losing his the same way, Razor grabbing the belt, Steamboat rolling Savage's slam into a small package, Flair dumping Sid, etc etc etc. THAT would have ruled, a collection of particular stand-out moments, along with some cameos (i.e. one of Koko since he never really did anything other than dance and get his ass handed to him, etc).
Please credit myself and Slashwrestling when posting this news elsewhere.

But money poured into it has nothing to do with the actual decision what to show. The ECW promos could have sucked from an artistic pov but were so awesome because you actually were 100% into it, both the feuds and the ppv..that is what probably makes the difference for you.

LeLani Kai Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake Lawrence Taylor Sal Sincere Rockin' Robin The Red Rooster
I hope that you were kidding, but I don't think that that's the case. Getting a little trivial with the term *superstars* no?
Actually I was serious about Lelani but the rest dissolved into a joke like several other posts in this thread. I did think it was cool that towards the end of the middle, they showed in succestion; High Chief Peter Maivia, Rocky Johnson, and The Rock. But where were Afa and Sika??

The British Bulldog and his British flag/cape thing got in with a nice close-up during the "New generation" portion of the video, but who is "Billington"?

Dynamite Kid. AKA Chris Benoit's daddy *grin* You know what I still remember best of the Bulldogs. When they got their first title win (think it was the first one) they won after Davey knocked the other guys head into Dynamite's who fell off the apron and was a bloody mess. they pretty much had to drag him out with the title around his neck.

The Bulldogs only had one title reign. Davey smashed Valentine's head into Dynamite at WM 2 causing the pin and a whole lot of blood.
We did see the Somoans, when Albano crashed the chair over Afa's head giving Rocky and Tony Atlas the belts. Nikolai Volkoff was in there too, singing the Russian National Anthem with Sheik and Blassie. I thought I saw Polish Power in the beginning as well. Oh yeah, I might be dating myself but no Grand Wizard??? I wish they also showed Owen begging his mom to throw in the towel, causing Backlund to win the belt at Survivor Series 95, the FIRST SCREWJOB!
It seems like some people missed the point of including the WCW footage in the video. Since the video was about the history of the WWF, they had to show the lowest point, when WCW dominated the ratings. The most humiliating points from that era was what they showed, Hall and Nash defecting, Medusa throwing the title in the trash with that asshole Mongo laughing, and of course Montreal with Hart spelling out WCW. Then the video changes to Vince and Shane waving goodbye to Hart and the competition as Attitude comes on and takes back the title of #1 promotion. The video ends with Vince celebrating the Survivor Series victory because Vince finally put everyone out of business and won the war.
I think the description of a "neck massage" is funny as well. Tenzan's back is legit badly injured, so after wrestling sixty minutes, he may have aggravated it. Or...
