So let me get this straight...

I'm supposed to pay another $99 for a GBA that (a) looks like a teeny-tiny ergonomic nightmare (three-inch square base with shoulder buttons == cramped hands aplenty), (b) has a flip-up screen that kids will be sitting on and snapping off, (c) may have a proprietary battery pack, (d) doesn't sound like an advance over a GBA with a fluorescent Floodlight hooked on (which lights up the screen beautifully), and (e) plays the same exact games as my current model?

I'll pass, thanks.

DAMMIT!
I just bought a GBA LAST FREAKIN' WEEKEND! I hate upgrades!

Vsp - where can I get one of these lights for my GBA? How does it work?
I would enjoy my GBA much more with a lighted screen.

I bought one for my wife's GBA at Best Buy in September, and one for my niece's GBA at Electronics Boutique last month. I'll assume that GameStop (nee FuncoLand) carries them by now.

It looks like this. You snap it on over the face of the GBA; it's easily removable, but sturdy enough that it won't be easy to knock off accidentally. When folded up, it serves as a nifty dust/scratch cover for the GBA's screen.

The housing flips up, and has several set positions. At the top of the housing is the light fixture itself, which contains a BRIGHT fluorescent bulb. This piece rotates smoothly, so that you can adjust the angle of both the housing and the light fixture to get just the right screen coverage.

The light is pure white and has zero glare when adjusted properly; in fact, it's almost too good, as you'll see every bit of dust on your screen. It can be switched on and off, so playing in bright rooms, dim light or complete darkness are all possible. It beats the hell out of every "Worm Light" alternative I've ever seen, and I wish they'd make one of these for my NeoGeo Pocket Color.

Its only drawbacks are that it uses 3 AA batteries (though they last a while), and that it is bulkier than some competitors (which I don't care about, but some do). Accept no substitutes.

I'm looking at it more like this...

It looks like Nintendo took everything wrong with the GameBoy Advance and corrected it.
*There is now a backlight with great battery life
*There are rechargable batteries
*The shoulder buttons are better
*The clam shell design protects the screen against scratches
*It will actually fit in your pocket

Works for me. =) Nintendo's actually releasing this alongside the regular GBA, it's not a replacement, just a higher end model for those who want to spend an extra $30.

Hey, I might actually have to get that. The GBA didn't really impress me at first, but now that I've seen its lineup and where it's going...

I know the guys who used to post the PSN stuff left, so I'm thinking maybe something just got lost in the shuffle.
