I know, goofy title, but this thread has to be started. How good is Kurt Angle? He's been the goofy entertaining sidekick(with Austin during the Invasion), the underdog(vs. Austin during the Invasion), the crybaby heel(most of 2000)...the list goes on and on. Now he's turned the corner and become the true dick heel that we've always known he could be. Kurt directing traffic last night was gorgeous, esp. his berrating Tony Chimel after the match and forcing him to announce Team Angle as the winners. Beeeyoutiful. Even after he eventually hangs the boots up, he'll be the best damn manager ever. Imagine years from now, when both he and Benoit are retired, but managing young wrestlers. Yeah, I know, Benoit can't talk, but I'm sure given 20 years he can work on it. Then their young charges meet, and it's the second coming of Benoit/Angle. Their feud will never die. And I'm loving it.

I hope Benoit settles into the masochist Stu Hart role of torturing young wrestlers and churning out the next great generation of workers. Why didn't they have him chop some of those kids on Tough Enough? That'd show the trainers who's really tough when Benoit turns their chest into hamburger meat.

Kurt Angle is gonna be like Ric Flair. When Flair really hit his stride, he was around the same age as Angle is now, maybe older. I don't know how old Angle is, early 30's? Angle will be around out wrestling everyone when he's in his 40's and everyone will say he's too old but he'll still be better then 90% of the roster.

Why wouldn't I be surprised that if Angle is managing in 20 years, Flair somehow will still be near the main event picture?

I once put together an 800 piece jigsaw puzzle and only had to use 500 pieces.

And Flair will still be better in the ring than half the roster. WHOO!

Boy, I've found myself HATING Angle over the last few weeks, and that's a good thing. I swear, I was marking oout for him like a chump. I thought he became a true blue face. Boy was I wrong. Angle rules!

In terms of carrying WWE, I think Kurt Angle is more than capable. In the short time that Angle's been in the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, he just shines above most everybody. He can work. He's obviously got the mic skills. Angle is the future of WWE without question.

It's amazing, because I think that the perception most of us have of Kurt Angle has been cultivated in only a little over three years. He truly is one of the rare talents any of us fans have ever seen. Wrestlers like Flair, Michaels, Bret Hart, and Austin were around for around a decade, give or take a few years before they really got BIG TIME recognition from fans. In my opinion, with a few exceptions, Angle's achieved that type of fan respect and admiration in half the time that many of the other greats did.

That respect is well deserved. Angle is the man. To become the performer he has in such a short time is incredible. His promos are spot on, and his in ring performace is second to none. Thank God he isn't on RAW.

It's kind of sad though to think - Flair is so old RIGHT NOW, that he just may not be alive in 20 years.

"In the short time that Angle's been in the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, he just shines above most everybody."

Sorry, just gotta say this. Angle is the absolute MAN and the best in the biz right now, but he's not been in the fed for "a short time" any more. It's over three years. In fact, the sooner people stop saying this, the sooner Angle can move on to being the true carrier of the fed, without being burdened with "Well I WANNA accept him, but he's not quite in that veteran/legend area yet".

Angle was the man, on the night of his in ring debut.

From the moment he spoke on the mic, and berated the crowd "You dont boo an olympic gold medalist" i knew he was a true main eventer, and would be champion, soon, and often.

He is That Damn Good.

Okay. Wait. Maybe I ought to clarify my thought. It's a testament to his greatness that Angle has done what he has done in a short time, relative to how long it took for stars like Flair, Austin, Hart and Michaels, amongst others to become the marvels of the mat game that they are. And, compared to Michaels, for example, Angle has been in WWE for about a fifth of the time Michaels has been in.

Now, in my opinion, does Angle carry WWE right now? Hell yes, because despite what's going on with the RAW side, not only has Angle held it down on SD!, he's helped to make SmackDown! the superior brand. And everyone I know who's a casual fan either loves the guy or loves to hate the guy on a kayfabe level.

Speaking for myself (and maybe defending myself a bit) I look at Angle as being THE star of WWE. Even if/when Austin returns, and even when The Rock comes back, those two don't hold the destiny of WWE in their hands anymore. It slipped out of Michaels' hands a while ago. It's out of HHH's and Taker's now. Angle BUSTS HIS ASS all the time. He entertains like few who have ever stepped into the ring. The fans love and respect Kurt Angle because of that. Once wrestling steps out of its lull, just watch how Angle will bring in the buyrates. I know the guy draws fans as it is right now.

"Well I WANNA accept him, but he's not quite in that veteran/legend area yet".

Angle is the franchise of WWE NOW. The future of WWE is now in Angle's hands. Period. And I DO accept it (c'mon, I've taken up lots of space to try to articulate that Angle, like soda, rulz! ) He now belongs in the same echelon of those who have carried (the) WWF/E-- Hogan, Hart, Michaels, Austin, Rock. And when wrestling booms again, Angle will lead the charge, and he may very well take the business farther than any before him.

That'd be my guess. It could be a red herring, per ekedolphin's post, but 205 Live is going to be coming from the same location as Smackdown Live, so it would make sense to realign the brands.
