Man, what an awful show. It really exemplified everything wrong with both products. Who the hell wants to see Bill Demott vs. Chuck Palumbo? Or Rikishi vs. John Cena? If you're going to waste everyone's time with C level talent, at least bring in some of the old ECW guys that can get over, because these guys are hopeless. The rap gimmick is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen, but hey, the lyrics were at least semi-entertaining. I guess we can look forward to Los Guerreros vs. Cena/B-2....whoopee. The wedding was atrocious, and the "wedding in the nude" thing was a perfect example of booked disappointment. Who writes this shit? Brock-Matt Hardy in the main event of the first show of the New Year? Jesus christ, give me a fucking break.

The "one good match" thing isn't cutting it for me anymore. It really didn't cut it tonight, because Eddy-Kidman was ruined by Sportz Entertainment nonsense.

Royal Rumble probable card and probable ratings:
Scott Steiner vs. HHH (1/2*)
Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show (DUD)
Dudleys vs. Storm/Regal (*)
Angle vs. Benoit (****ish)
Rumble

uh....

This ppv is going to suck nuts, and while Steiner-Hunter and the return of taker may pop a slightly larger rating, it means nothing for the long term. And how many times have we seen Benoit-Angle? Sure it's great, but it gets old.

Steiner carried Goldberg and he usually rises to the occassion in big matches so I don't think the match will suck as badly as one might expect.

Lesnar-Show is a little suprising but needed. Lesnar will get his big win over Show in probably 5 minutes or less. Lesnar throwing Show's fatness around just because he can is quality entertainment, at least for me.

I suspect that Booker/Dust-someone or HBK-Jericho will get that other spot.

Guido was never over in ECW, his heat was purely a result of who he was associated with.

Whatever..Team Angle made my night. Well, actually Haas did, Benjamin seemed kind of sloppy. But the whole thing is just so Horsemenesque in the REALLY good way.

Am I the only one who thought Smackdown! was good? That freak Lesnar was just awesome tonight. And Team Angle really impressed me. Not to mention Dawn Marie in her undergarments, and Al in his tighty whities.

Tell me I didn't just say that.

I can't believe you guys refuse to recognize the brilliance that is John Cena. I give it 4 months before the fans turn him face. You heard it here first.

The "sloppiness of the night" award has to go to Edge, not Benjamin. He had no business busting out the Triple German. He looked like he just about broke Chavo's (or was it Eddy's?) neck on the second one.

EDIT: Sorry, did I say Chavo or Eddy? I meant Hass or Benjamin.

Agreed. Cena is gonna win a lot of fans with this gimmick. I'm already chock full o' Cena-cysm.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the near-death of Charlie Haas. On the rolling Germans, he crumpled up twice in ways that had me cringing.

On the flip side, Al Wilson shakin' his groove thang was priceless.

Wouldn't it have made more sense then to turn The Rapping White Guys faces for the match against Los Guerreros at Rumble since it will be in Cena's hometown? I know they are trying to pull the NAO of '97 gimmick again, but you are sacraficing the second best heel in terms of heat (Eddie) on your roster while attempting this. And, with the track record of the past year, the Rapping White Guys won't really get over, and the heel heat Los Guerreros had will disappear, as the fans won't know whether to cheer or boo them.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

I think Eddie won't have much trouble finding heel heat again for himself if they don't actually turn face.

You're scaring me. This is not only white rap, but BAD white rap. This is Dr. Evil-and-Mini-Me-in-Goldmember kinds of bad.

Okay, if I get a "YO BABY YO BABY YO" from Cena, I'll crack up, but that's a separate issue.

Come on, name a rapper in the entire history of the WWE who's better than Cena.

If you want to talk about bad rap, Rikishi is where to look. His rhyming was just horrid in the Rikishi/Cena battle. And what's with the "Rikishi survived a drive-by" bullshit they pulled. First of all, that's just ridiculous. Second of all, revisionist WWE history is always annoying. Third of all, being the victim of a drive-by (or other indications of having a gang-related past) hasn't been a prerequisite for "street cred" in rap since, like, 1994.

    John Cena being the best rapper in the history of the WWF/E is the equivalent of stating someone is the best igloo builder in the Sahara Desert.

How many rappers has the WWF/E had?

* John Cena w/B-Squared
* Road Dogg
* K-Kwik
* Oscar (Men on a Mission)
* Fatu (makin' a difference), now as Rikishi
* PG-13 (a brief stint with the NOD)
* Kurt Angle (crisp and clean with no caffeine, yo)

Am I missing anyone? (I'm assuming that even with the WWF's absorption of WCW, they still can't retroactively claim PN News or the No Limit Soldiers.)

I thought it was a solid show. I didn't watch any of the wedding angle which made the show more enjoyable for me.

I thought Smackdown was still pretty decent, but maybe a little lower than recent shows. First and foremost, where the hell did the ramp go?!? And Eddy's hair?!?! For fuck's sake! Put me in the "Eddy can get his heat back anytime he wants to" camp. Brock vs. Show needs to be done to blow off that feud. Speaking of Da Monster, that was a *nasty* chairshot. All that blood. It was like No Mercy again. The wedding blew, and everyone was waiting for a Torrie run-in that never happened. I would have taken Brock/Benoit over Benoit/Edge, but Brock was already booked. Agreed, Chuck/DeMott didn't really do much, and Crash/Nunzio should have been at the beginning of the show. Also, Benoit/Edge vs. Team Angle should have been the main and not the Brock vs. Hardy match. Edge needs to leave the Germans to the pros. Btw, RIP A-Train.

I've been a Cena fan for a long time, but I'm calling bullshit on his interviews. He is saying that he hasn't changed to make the fans like him, that he won't change for anyone. Somewhere along the line, he stopped making fun of the fans.
