Rich Gannon was announced as the NFL MVP today, edging out Brett Favre. Steve McNair was third, and tied at fourth were Priest Holmes, Mike Vick and Derrick Brooks.

Can't argue with the result.

Yeah I can't really argue with it either. I might make an argument for Holmes if the Cheifs made the playoffs.

If Holmes wasn't injured most of December, then the Chiefs probably would've made the playoffs. That being said, he was, and they didn't. Can't think of anyone else who's managed to do as much for his team as Gannon has, so I can't argue with it, either.

Tough to argue with the result, but the fact that Ricky Williams and Jason Taylor, rushing and sack leaders, aren't even in the top five is disturbing...regardless of the "they didn't make the playoffs" arguement.

I can't argue too much either...I thought Favre had it, but that last game didn't do him any favors.

...guess I gotta edit the sig now...

The 6 listed are the only ones receiving votes. The breakdown was:
Gannon 19
Favre 15
McNair 11
Brooks, Holmes, Vick 1 each

Regarding Gannon over Favre, I agree with it also. He had much better Yards Per Pass numbers 7.6 vs. 6.6. SI picked Favre because he had less to work with. But, I go with Gannon because of the numbers. He shouldn't be penalized for having a better offense.

I was a big Holmes backer until he got hurt and Trent Green decided to show that he could be a decent quarterback (I had him on one of my fantasy teams and traded straight up for Garcia, ugh.)

No complaints on Gannon winning. He deserved it. I do wonder about Farve coming in second. I think Ricky Williams should have garnered some votes.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

I have a hard time voting for someone that his team won 2 less games than the year before as the MVP. Of course if I owned the fish I would have a hard time keeping a head coach that does not give the ball to Ricky Willaims in the last 3 minutes of the game.
