What is the WWE hoping to accomplish with the "Rock & Wrestling" era push for Bill DeMott? The "Midcarder squashes jobbers" push hasn't gone anywhere for at least 10 years. This push was a staple of WCW (Van Hammer & Wrath come to mind of the top of my head), and always ended with "midcarder loses to upper-midcarder, push ends, midcarder is never heard from again." And I don't really see any other way for this one to go.
So, Bill DeMott squashes a couple of more cruiserweights the next couple weeks. What do they do with him at Royal Rumble? How is this guy going to be on TV in a month?
(edited by MoeGates on 27.12.02 1037) It seems that I am - in no particular order - Zack Morris, John Adams, a Siren, Aphrodite, Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel, Amy-Wynn Pastor, Hydrogen, Spider-Man, and Boston.
Unless they give him the Diesel push at Rumble (doubtful, but who knows). Title confused me, as I thought it might be trying to compare Angle entering his prime and Flair entering his prime.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
Its not working because people either know he was a joke in WCW and a glorified jobber until the end. Or they just know him as one of those guys who came in from WCW but didn't do anything forever.
If they're counting on Tough Enough to get him over then they shouldn't have shown him getting all soft on Jonah last week.

These days, the Diesel push feels a little more forced, than anything. It's as if they're saying that by giving a wrestler the Diesel push in the Rumble is going to equate with a bigger push in the months following. We expect the same from King of the Ring, and that starts to feel forced, too.
What I'd LOVE to see, is a wrestler who shouldn't be receiving the Diesel push(big tough guy eliminating everyone... and I know that's not an EXACT definition of the Diesel push) get it, ala Matt Hardy.

I have Batista pegged for this.
Batista's a good candidate, but I'm somehow thinking Vince gets STUBBORN~! and gives the Diesel push to A-Train in a last ditch attempt to get him over. As usual, it probably won't work.
Whether the Diesel push goes to Batista, Bill DeMott, or A-Train, the real losers...are the FANS!
I'll see YOU at Wrestlemania X-9! Hey, Rocky! You're Next!
Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin, TLC Match: Hopefully Reigns to put this feud to bed. Rusev vs. Bobby Lashley, Tables Match: I have a strange feeling Lashley wins this. Bray Wyatt vs. The Miz: So I guess this is Bray instead of The Fiend? Or not?
