No... Flair had me recruit people...
I honestly think it has something to do with the number of SUperstar points you have, and if you are in contention for the title. The first time through, I had the belt at this point, and no option to recruit... this time, I did not have the belt, and he wanted me to recruit (Damned Farooq attacked me! Just because I did not want to make him "The Leader!")

For me, Matt Hardy (not the champion jumped from SD to Raw) didn't get to recruit, but Booker T (champion who stayed on SD and punked Flair out first chance he got) did get to recruit. Maybe it has to do with if/when you punk out the opposing manager, as opposed to the belt or loyalty. Or maybe its random.

Welp, because of all YOU wieners, I finally went out and got this game (as an Xmas present to meself hehe)...marked improvement over last year, I'll say.

I've taken Benoit about a year +1/2 through season mode, just trying to win all my matches and unlock stuff for CAW. I've noticed I get very bored walking around the arena looking for other superstars (can never find anything worth it), so I pretty much just circle the rotunda then get on with the show. Also, I can't tell what good interfering does so I don't bother anymore.

Coolest thing that's happened to me so far:

After winning the Undisputed title I jump to RAW and kiss Flair's ass for a few months. Flair continually books me against jobbers, all of whom I proceed to *SQUASH*. Vince has an apoplexy and somehow gets me booked into a title match with Smackdown's Kurt for the PPV. Flair counters by appointing himself the special guest ref. Match begins...clothesline, armbar, german suplex with bridge...Flair counts the fastest_pinfall_ever!! Angle pinned in less than 20 secs, champ retains *lol*.

Ahh, it pays to be a suckup...

Here's one for you...

I'm still playing as Triple H. One day, J.R. tells me that they want me for a lead role in a movie, so I accept. J.R. tells me that this will be my last match, so I go, squash my opponent. After the match RVD "jumps" me, I'm "beaten down" and I have to be "carried off" in an ambulance. J.R. and the King tell the viewers that I have an "injury", and I won't be able to wrestle for a few months. The perfect cover for my movie shoot... he he.

I bet the marks playing this have learned something new about the industry...

Really, really freaking cool, Great Thomas.

So you just skip ahead a few months, or do you watch the storylines from “home”?

A word about the recruiting... in my first season as Matt Hardy, I made an unsuccesful attempt to recruit Diamond Dallas Page. In my second season, I successfully recruited Brock Lesnar, so I think I made up for it, LOL.

The trick is to say that every match is important to you, the guy you're recruiting can be your tag-team partner, and that wrestling is your life. When your conversation is interrupted, say that it's none of the other guy's business. Then beat that dude's ass. Introduce the recruit by saying “I introduce to you a great leader, Brock Lesnar!” or whatever his name is.

You skip ahead a few months. Afterwards, Triple H has an interview with J.R. concerning his movie shoot and his return to the ring. The best part is, you get to choose all the answers to J.R.'s questions, not that it makes much of a difference.

Oh, and this game has the greatest credits in the history of video games. I watch it again and again and again and again and again...

Yay...was at a friend of mine, who actually own the PS2..
And the show after I dropped in he got to recruit some guys.
GREAT choices..Albert, Stasiak and Taker *bogle*
So we went for Taker (and watched the work rate on SD! plummeth, teehee)
Right after that Lita threw herself at his feet, but heh..what can you expect when you play Latino Heat
So only now do I believe all of you *grin*
Amazing game..his storyline is so different from mine.
With me Steph showed up only when Flair and Vince work together. With his season she appeared at Armageddon already.

I had a match as Eddie where, if I lost, I was suspended indefinitely. Unfortunately, it was against Brock, who kicked the crap out of me during and after the match. The next RAW, Flair comes out and suspends me indefinitely, and the game skipped ahead 3 months. JR tried to interview me when I got back, but it told him, "I'm back for the Rumble. Get out of my face."

This game rules. Climbing the Smackdown fist is hilarious, especially with the ref following and then with everybody falling down. Is there a way to control a frog splash or swanton bomb so that you actually land on your opponent and not flop around like a fish?

On a side note, slobberknocker is easy with Hogan where you just clothesline the wrestlers and then drop the leg for either the pin or the KO.

this game rules i did the season mode the first time on easy, found it too easy and decided to play it on Smackdown! level with my CAW and found it more of a challenge. I won the title at Vengeance 2002 and dropped it at Armageddon 2002 after Brock pinned Kane. Whooped Brock's ass at Rumble won it back and embarked on a 14 month reign where i lost it to The Big Show At Wrestlemania 2004. I had scares in some title defences, Edge, Austin, RVD and Brock all gave me good matches. My hint is, if u are getting yer ass kicked, go outside the ring and u can't get pinned if they hit their Smackdown! move. Will probably do another Season but im stuck on who to go.

When I first started during my stint as Matt Hardy, the "go outside the ring to not get pinned trick" and removing the turnbuckle were the two main ways that I was able to win as often as I could. As I actually got the moves and timing down, I was able to stop relying on those tactics, and able to wrestle full matches *legitimately*. It was fun to watch though, because I won the title with my cheap tactics, but still got beat in hardcore and last man standing matches (where there is no *outside the ring*). Then, once I lost the title, I had to learn how to legitimate wrestle so that for my second title reign I kept it till the end. I was unstoppable. (I still am. It never occurred to me to change the difficulty...)

I was just asked by Vince to join him on the owners' side of a feud against the wrestlers. I joined him and did his bidding, getting Billy Gunn and Randy Orton fired. Then, Vince and Flair took the tag titles as their own after firing Billy. He entered me (Eddie) with Rhyno in the tournament to determine the #1 contender. We won the title shot at Summer Slam. Rhyno came up to me before the PPV and said, "Whatever you want to do Eddie. I'm with you." So we went out and beat them for the tag titles!!! Vince was pissed and fired me and Rhyno for treason. All of a sudden, the horrid Linda McMahon music starts. She comes out and reinstates all of us and tells Vince and Flair to grow up. It was an awesome sequence. This game kicks ass!!!

That's nothing, playing as my friend's CAW "Hurricane Andrew"...Undisputed Title match with The Rock, Flair as the ref...match starts, run at Rocky, duck behind him...hurricane Neckbraker...pin...match over, 10 seconds of action.

Wooo I used my Mankind CAW and did a shooting star press off the Smackdown fist and killed RVD it was so sweet. The trick is to have them on the ramp right where the ramp meets the stage. One question in the boiler room (where I must finish all my hardcore matches) can anyone get that big tank on the bottom floor to explode?

I posted this in another thread, but I figured I post it here.

The weirdest thing happened today in season mode, I was Eddie as the Undisputed champ, and our RAW team beat the SmackDown team in a elimination 6 man tables match and we won, giving Flair total control. But afterwards HBK came up and talked to me about how it was his last night and crap like that. He had actually been talking to me the past few weeks like he was on the team, but he wasn't. Then he said he wanted to "punch me once before he left". I told him he was crazy and he walked off.

I got this game for Christmas and I've been playing it almost nonstop. It's just amazing. There are three things that I don't like about it though.

1. No women in season mode, and not even a women's title in the whole game.

2. No title matches in exhibition.

3. For two games in a row now, STILL no create a PPV mode. That's my favorite mode and the reason why I still play Smackdown 2: Know Your Role.

This game is so awesome it made me go out and finally buy a PS2. I haven't had a game console since the Nintendo 8-bit so it's taking some getting used to
Got the game for X-Mas as well and I can tell you I'm now in some definite need of sleep...

Started a season as Benoit on Smackdown! and immediately kicked the 'Taker's ass in the second week after meeting him backstage. Took me two months to get a title shot but I beat him again only to lose the belt to The Rock at the next PPV in a steel cage. Totally lame, it took him about a minute and I got ZERO offense in. Then I had a 3 month feud with Jeff Hardy and Val Venis (sorry... Big Valbowski) while trying to get another title shot. I've never gotten offered a show at any other title, seems wierd. Failed at recruiting 'Taker and lost in the Survvor Series match for WWE control. Won a bunch of matches against Lesnar/Austin but still got screwed out of the 6-man Hell in The Cell match at Armageddon which Brock won(must be 'cause I'm a Canadian). Promptly got put in a #1 contender match with Bubba and won it, won the belt from Brock at the Rumble in a street fight and fought off the nWo until WrestleMania. The main event was a tag match with Brock against Nash/Hogan. I won the match but then the game just continues... i thought the season ended and you got a special video??? WTF!! Anyway, still the champ.

Too bad about the create a PPV not being in it, other than that nothing but KUDDOS!!!

That's it... and that's ALL.

After creating myself as a wrestler and playing through season mode (kicking ass the whole way), I started a new season as the Undertaker, and during the draft, the number one draft pick for Smackdown (controlled by the PS2), was *ME!* (the CAW!!!) Apparently my 99 rating carried over (I thought all the ratings reset at the end of season mode), so I'm looking forward to being a big player this coming season...

You have the option of keeping or resetting the point values. If this keeps going the way it has been, Snazzy Jeans Man could be the number one pick from here to all eternity.
