I just got a tape in the mail of a recent Zero-One card from Japan. Two of the guys wrestling were Low-Ki and Spanky, who represented an organization called Ring of Honor. Now the Question: What is Ring of Honor? I've never heard of it, but from the looks of these two, it should be pretty kickass. What's Low-Ki's deal anyway? He was putting out a kind of Great Muta without the facepaint vibe. Spanky was pretty killer too with his "I'm King of the WORLD!"/ Leo DiCaprio(TItanic)/Shawn Cassidy vibe.

Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner
Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee
I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat
By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set
It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray
One of them said "what do you want more than anything
in this whole wide world
Do you want money, do you want sex, or do you want all that success?"
I thought about that one myself
(Then they came upon the thing)

Ring Of Honor

It's generally considered to be the best American independent promotion, and from the stuff I've seen it's putting out the best wrestling on North America on a regular basis.

Ring of Honor (ROH) is owned by Rob Fienstein, who also owns RF Video, distributor of wrestling tapes and such. ROH is basically a Northeast indy fed, running shows in the Philly, Boston, New York City areas. It's generally regared as one of the top indy feds in America. The wrestling is supposed to be governed by the "Code of Honor", which states that you respect your opponent, no cheap shots, shake hands after the match, etc. Big emphasis on wrestling and competition.

That's basically as much as I know. I've seen a little bit of ROH, as it's aired at midnight on Wed. (or is it Tuesday?) on a local station. Somebody else could probably give you more info, or you may want to try RFVideo.com, and chose the Ring of Honor link.

Matthew: You would've loved it, David. A week in a foreign country, strange people, strange customs...
Dave: Oh, I know what you mean. I've been to Canada.

I've been to a few of their Philly shows. Good quality stuff (if you like Low-Ki/Spanky kinds of stuff). The emphasis is on the in ring wrestling, although there are stories and interviews and such as we're used to. I can't say I'm all that familiar with the stories as I've only seen them live a handful of times, and w/o weekly tv it gets hard to follow. That said, I've heard that the tapes/DVD's are awesome. The live shows are good, except that they tend to run longish (4 + hours), and the third hour is usually where they put the hardcore/garbage, women, and "less talented" wrestlers. Apparently they do a good job editing, so it isn't as exhausting to watch on tape as it is live. (Exhausting in a good way...)

Low-Ki vs. Samoa Joe from their October show (I think) was probably the stiffest match I've seen since Regal-Finlay.

Animal Crossing and SD:SYM have taken all my time. When am I supposed to go to work???

I got a chance to see the first Boston (actually Wakefield) show, and it blew my effin mind.Prob'ly four hours of work, only one real stinker of a match outside the garbage wrestling that I've never gone for.

And the Christopher Street Connection is the best gay gimmick tag team ever. Without a doubt.

A lot of those guys show up on TNA X division too, guys like Amazing Red and the SATs.

The first Boston (area) show, 'Ring of Honor Invades Boston' would be a good first tape of theirs to acquire IMODO, as it has the awesome Briscoes match and Low Ki just stiffarming the shit out of Chris Devine and AJ Styles. Also, Scoot Andrews (the black nature boy) wrestles twice and you get a slice of the Boston indie scene with Alex Arion and Maverick Wild (both of Sheldon Goldberg's New England Championship Wrestling -- Home of "Blind" Scott Dickinson!)

It was such a sweet show.

Having seen Red on NWA-TNA last night, it's official that everything they say about him is 100% true.

Thanks for all the help guys (and dolls!), I also happened to find a review on 411 of a match I MUST own on tape from ROH... Red vs. Low Ki. Something about a "Matrix Minute" where the two kicked that shiznit John Woo style and blew the roof off the place. Thanks for the info again, soon I'll own some of these tapes (although it can only be #2 to my first rasslin' love - Toryumon/T2P/Toryumon X!)

To clear up any confusion, the "cousins" question was asked earlier in the thread but I deleted it. The storyline that they WERE cousins (brothers, actually)
