Random ramblings...

Intro, with bombs dropping and urban destruction everywhere, might JUST have been in questionable taste. Eh.

The tag teams are jerking the curtain? Huh? But at least they got rid of the Flag-Wavers and the Duds quickly. After that, it ruled, and the right team won. God, I love the Booker-Dust connection. ;-) How many angles right now actually give me the warm fuzzies and make me root for friendship among freaks everywhere? That's right...this one. Please, no stupid and predictable screwjob turns for either one of them. Keep this going. Thank you.

Edge vs A-Train: I don't hate Albert. I do hate his back hair and his piercings, but he's a heel and he can be ugly and disgusting if he wants to be, IMO. Hubby *loved* the Hip Hop Hippo thing with Scotty, if you want to know. Still, I don't yet know why he's been talked up by the likes of the Undertaker. Whatever it is, it ain't quite showing at this point. Interesting, entertaining match, however. The opponents seemed very evenly matched, and I had no idea who was going to go over. In that context, and in service to Big A's character, the DQ made perfect sense.

Kane vs Batista: So it's not "Dave Batista" any more? Thank goodness. That name sounded like some guy who bags groceries for a living. The two of them looked just fine together as the designated big-man match, but MAN, that botched powerbomb had me scared! Not a very good match, though not utterly unwatchable. This angle might improve. For Kane's sake, I certainly hope it does, and I wouldn't mind seeing Batista do more, once he has seasoned a bit.

Torrie and Dawn, HLA v. 2: What for, other than to provide fuel for Vinnie Mac's wet dreams? Interminable. I went upstairs to get a printer manual to read, took a potty break, and it was STILL on. We turned the sound off. Hubby quoth: "Even *I* am not interested in this."

Eddie vs Benoit: Very, very fine. I cannot have a bad time watching these two tear up the mat. Big smile on face throughout, though the moment JR mentioned that the winner would be a contenda, I knew Benoit would win. Oh, THERE'S Chavo--I was hoping he would get to do something during the PPV! No cruiserweight match? Waah. Take the belt off Kidman so I don't have to fall asleep watching him, please...

Angle vs Show: Not bad, thanks to Angle. Show blew up fast--I knew full well this would not go long! But a watchable match, with a GREAT ending. Angle is champ! Please let him keep it until Wrestlemania and go up against Brock then! An entirely new main event with some genuine wrestling potential! Thank you.

Women's match: Ugh. Loose, sloppy, unfocused. Unfortunately, this match demonstrated that a good triple-threat takes performers with mucho experience. If Trish never did that handstand-to-throw-opponent-off-the-turnbuckle move again, it would be too soon for me. What the hell was Victoria wearing? Hubby quoth: "That looks like something she would have on UNDER the ring gear." They do not seem to have her character figured out yet. Calling her "psycho" every ten seconds just makes us roll our eyes--SHOW, don't TELL. I think she could really be something in a while, if they book her correctly. Jobbing her to freakin' Jacqueline a week ago was NOT correct booking. And drop the weird outfits. No hot pink, mint green or blah beige, sweetheart, and no shorts; stick to full-length black, and maybe steal Trish's garnet red number. Think Vampira, goth, Spider Woman. She likes to bite people, y'know?

Two out of Three: A lot of wandering around punctuated with sick bumps. They sure did take their time setting up that match-ending table spot, didn't they? Three separate people built the tower, like kids playing with a set of blocks. Shawn wore his cute old red HBK tights, and I had flashbacks to 1998...until he started to move. That had its painful moments, and I am not talking about the off-the-cage spots. Trip seemed significantly disabled by the thigh injury. I think each man reached deep down and did his best...unfortunately. Why would anyone think a Cactus Jack ripoff flaming barbwire 2x4 merits a "Holy Shit"? Sheesh. I respect the physical effort and pain that went into this match, but ultimately it failed for me.

Average PPV, IMO. The undercard worked better than the main event by a long shot. I would not have bought it on my own--I completely forgot it was on until hubby walked into the family room and turned on Heat--but I sat down and watched it anyway. Might as well comment on it!

Well, I loved Armageddon. But then again, I *was* there, so that probably had something to do with it.

The HLA segment was pretty damn popular with the masses of drunken perverts. For me, the best part was watching Al Wilson ham up the embarassment/disgust during the naughtiest parts. He'd bury his face in his hands and pout on the turnbuckle.

After that, the Batista/Kane match really was *not* getting the crowd interested. We really got on Batista's case when he botched the powerbomb, and there were some scattered "Boring" chants. Of course, there were boring chants during the Benoit/Guerrerro match, which pissed me off to high hell. Wrestling fans never cease to disgust me. I felt like the crowd was for the most part pretty uninterested in the matches all night, though. They'd pop for the entrances and whatnot, but then they'd get bored with the actual wrestling. I tried not to let it bother me, though, and I was into it the whole night.

The first chairshot Edge gave Albert was AWESOME. It was sick. I was looking at it from an angle that would have given away any weakness of the shot, and I'm telling you it was just a really stiff chairshot. Now, later on in the 2 out of 3 falls match, HBK gave Triple H a chairshot worthy of Lance Storm.

Another interesting note: before the show started, they showed the Confidential clip about the Rock making his movie. It drew a chorus of boos and people were yelling "YOU SUCK!" and "SELLOUT!" to the Rock's image. It was kinda funny that they were heckling the Titantron.

Brock by far got the biggest pop of the night, and I was right there poppin'. That title match was exciting and interesting, and after that, the 2 out of 3 falls match seemed slow and it was SOOO LONG.

Of course, for me, the highlight of the night was meeting Benoit and Guerrerro at the gas station on the way home. I've still got a smile on my face from that one. They were both super nice guys, and I hope I didn't come across as too much of a loser. I told Eddie I wanted them to make a Los Guerrerros shirt. It was a totally surreal moment, let me tell you. I've met wrestlers before, but this time I had to wait for them to finish shopping, and I had time to stand there and absorb what was actually happening. My knees were jelly! We told Eddie that we really enjoyed their match, and how much we loved the cool finish, and how we appreciated innovative stuff like that. When I asked for an autograph, he said "I'd love to give you guys an autograph," and shook our hands and said "God bless". It was weird how soft-spoken he was in person, considering his onscreen persona. We apologized for taking up his time, and he said it was no problem at all. Benoit was really cool, too. He asked us how we liked the show, and we told him we loved it, and that we'd been big fans of his for years, echoing the sentiments we'd told Eddie. He said "Thanks for appreciating me", and we apologized to him as well for bothering him, and he said it wasn't a bother at all, and thanked us for our support.

Now me and my boyfriend have joked that we can never break up, because there would be BATTLE over who got custody of the Benoit and Guerrerro autographs. *g* (Of course, I think it would have to be me, since he didn't have the guts to actually ask for an autograph! heh)

All in all it was a very cool night. My last WWF show was a Smackdown a year and a half ago, and it was a horrible experience. I had been getting over surgery and security had carted my boyfriend off because he was standing in the aisle just before there was a run-in through the crowd, and they were skittish about it. THEN they wouldn't help me at all when I asked where they had taken my boyfriend, and I was feeling weakened from the surgery, and wandering around the arena in tears for an hour. But this Armageddon show more than makes up for it.

That's so awesome, Ana... I'm having a battle of emotions right now. I'm so happy that you got to meet two of my most favorite wrestlers, who I simply adore, somewhat worship, and partly obsess about...

And then there's the side of me that's soooooooooo jealous! :)

I love dropped storylines, like:

Well, does it help to know that those who you admire are super-nice guys? I was impressed by this. I can't imagine being famous at all, I don't know if I could be polite after being asked for autographs like a million times.

And if you think you're jealous, imagine my friend who was supposed to go with us, but cancelled at the last minute. He nearly had a fit when he found out what he missed out on.

First of all, Emma, I want to thank you for catching onto something that even I didn't want to admit. Yes, it's been one of those really screwed up years for me. Somebody's jinxing me all right.
