It was silly to declare the Death Penalty unconstituional anyway. The real surprise about this decision when it came down was that it did not come from the 9th Circuit(the court most infamous for its Pledge of Allegiance decision).
Well, then again, it seems like the whole argument against it was that it was inherently wrong, without looking at the big issue with the penalty--its application. Why do you think there are those moratoriums in Indiana and Maryland?
The death penalty in and of its self certainly isn't unconstitutional. The death penalty as it's currently applied in America certainly is though. My position is that it's not worth the price to try and make it perfectly applied, and a perfectly applied death penelty is the only one that would be constitutional, or at least moral.

There is a moratorium in Maryland because Glendening is a tool. There has be no wrongful or even questionable application of the penalty in Maryland. Glendening was just pandering to his far-left constiuency. Look for a lot of executions start to line up on January 15, 2003 when Governor Ehrlich takes office and Maryland is finally liberated...

And this is a good thing? From Grimis' real life experience of Liberals: "... unrealisitc, unenlightened, discriminatory, totalitarian, partial, strict ..." Sounds like you are a real Liberal Grim.
Wake up the dawn and ask her why, she dreams a dream she never dies; Wipe that tear away from your eye.

Are you excited about this?
Personally I think killing people is wrong except in war or in defense of your or someone else's life. And even then it is nothing to be celebrated. Our legal system is far too imperfect to have a punishment of such finality. Ideally, as civilized human beings we should be above killing for vengeance. That's what people like Al Qaeda do.

i'm excited. i want to see the snipers die for their actions.
DDP: Well, there's this little passage I got memorized, Diamond Dallas 25:17. Sort of fits this occasion:
"The path of the bookerman is beset on all sides by the inequities of the talented, and the tyranny of workrate freaks. Blessed is he, who in the name of tradition and sports entertainment carries the stiffs through the matches of Nitro, for he is truly the workrate's keeper, and the finder of lost quality. And I will lay the smack down upon thee with great vengeance and furious roid rage those who attempt to outwrestle and expose my brothers. And you will know my name as the Bookerman, when I lay my catchphrase upon thee!"

Of course I'm excited about this. The scum of the universe being executed is something we all can get behind.
We had a case here a few weeks ago of a kid in Baltimore burning down a house killing two parents and five kids because the mom called the cops on a drug deal. Do you belive that barbarian deserves to live?

Good, you support gun rights.

It's justice. People, like the snipers, like the kid who burned down the house, get what they deserve. An "Eye for an Eye." People who commit the ultimate crimes deserve the ultimate sanction.

Please. Support of the death penalty is none of these things.

Well, I'll leave the last 5 alone, but it's definitely unrealistic to expect that you're going to get the Death Penelty right 100% of the time, which I would think any sane person would agree is necessary for a just Death Penalty. Remember, this is a criminal justice system that couldn't even get the OJ verdict right.
Look, if spending the rest of your natural life in a dank bathroom 23 hours a day isn't worse than dying, it's pretty damn close. Close enough that it's not worth the risk of getting some of the cases wrong.

I can't get behind executing anyone. I get behind life imprisonment that means life imprisonment, not 15 years and then parole.
I believe everyone deserves to live. I believe in removing someone's freedom and comfort for atrocities, not their life.
I support gun rights all the way. I own twelve rifles, three shotguns and nine pistols. I fucking love guns. I also hunt, but to put venison in the freezer for the winter, not to take pleasure in killing.
I don't agree that the death penalty is just. I absolutely believe that "an eye for an eye" is barbaric and serves nothing but our basest emotions.
I have been in combat, and seen a lot of bodies. I have killed enemy soldiers. It is not just, it is wrong. It is necessary in a combat situation, but it is nothing to take pride in or condone.
well to get the opinion of some war vets, i asked dad to ask his brothers if they were for or against the death penality for the snipers during his weekly call to check up on his bro's and mom back in WV.
Dad: WWII vet, served in the asian theatre, and was part of the Japanese Occulational forces, and a former OSS agent: For execution
Uncle Bob: Korean Vet, recieved purple heart for injuries and a bronze star for helping troops back to base after they were ambushed and the 2nd luey left them for dead: For
Uncle Harold: Korean Vet, didn't do much of anything unless it involved a beer: For, but from what he described to me, it should be like in the Running Man, and they have to fight for their lives...yes, harold is the drunk black sheep of the fam.
Uncle Paul is dead, but i knew he was against it, because he though life in prison in solitary would be worst than death. one of his friends was gunned down in a bar fight back in the 80s, he was the only one who wanted the guy to get life.
edit: made the top paragraph actually made sense...
