Well the second week of college football is over and the first week of the NFL is in the books (almost). So who looks to be the most overrated in first week of football (college or pro). I have two votes.

ACC ranked teams - Maryland loses to Northern Illinois and gets blown out by Florida State. NC State loses to Wake. Virginia gets blown out by South Carolina. FSU might be good but, like usual, we won't know because they play nobody in their conference games.

Kellen Winslow Jr. - I've never been so unimpressed by a supposed Heisman candidate. He had 5 catches for 35 yards which is ok for a tight end I guess. But not Heisman numbers. He dropped several catches and several false starts. He wasn't the best player on the field, or the best player no his team. In fact, he wasn't the best tight end on the field. Ben Troupe had a better game.

overrated? Lets Try Auburn, picked by at least one national rag to win it all, now 0-2.

Preseason polls: can't we wait until at least week 4 to come out with rankings.

Now you will receive us.
We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.
With every breath, we shall hunt them down.
Each day we will spill their blood, 'til it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior, and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil. We urge you lesser forms of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over, in to true corruption, into our domain.
For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three, and on that day you will reap it.
And we will send you to whatever god you wish.

Brick's got it.

As of now, any overrated discussion begins and ends with Auburn. They haven't even scored a touchdown yet.

This is why college football is still BS to me. Every year there are a couple of highly ranked preseason teams who end up tanking, showing for sure that the preseason rankings really are just a guess. The problem is, if you get two or three teams at the top who out you end up with a national championship game with entrants determined by a guessing system that has already been proven fallable. I know this argument has been made a thousand times before, but the NCAA needs football playoffs. Between the constant recruiting scandals, players taking money and gifts, and a championship decided largely on politics, I have a very hard time treating college football as legitimate.

If you want to discuss a playoff system, then we can talk. If not...

I'm a huge college football fan, and I know that preseason rankings are largely a joke. (How can you justify putting us at 16 in the ESPN preseason poll when we went 8-5 last year?) The fun part about them is figuring out who the 2 or 3 massively overrated teams are before the games start. I had a hunch about Auburn, but I still haven't seen the other top teams bomb out. (I'm halfway afraid it's going to be us, actually.)

Chuck, I'll be your team's biggest fan this week if it makes you feel any better. We're on a bye for Florida, so I might as well root for someone.

There's also highly thought of NFL teams (Miami) who are unimpressive in the opening weeks. And getting caught with drugs and being involved with shootings is much worse than players taking money when they should be getting paid anyway. So if college football isn't legitimate than neither is NFL. I guess CFL is the only legitimate football?

Don't know about that, when you have a the league owning two of the teams in a 4 team division it certainly shows that the C in the CFL doesn't stand for credibility LoL

As for teams I personally overrated, I have to go with your first team you mentioned Maryland which I actually picked to win the ACC (opps)... Well all my other picks are still undefeated, even though Miami gave me a scare last week.

WEre you insinuating that College Athelets get paid? Is that what the jist of that section of your comment was about? Just curious.

It wasn't the most exciting Grey Cup, but it did have an exciting finish. Solid victory by the Alouettes, and once again the Green Army goes home sad (and possibly drunk).
