    --Sept. 15, Arkansas

    --Sept. 22, Georgia

    --Sept. 29 vs. Florida State

    --Nov. 3 at Mississippi State

    --Nov. 10, LSU

    --Nov. 24 at Auburn

Good luck. He can lose four games without the Alums gritting their teeth his first year. But this schedule is a cakewalk and big things will be expected, especially if Bama gets lucky and has nine or ten wins going into Auburn. Then get smoked. That's the killer part, but I doubt they'll ride him out of town like Shula

There is a highly touted running back out of Sarasota, Fla., named Mike Ford who had committed to Alabama but switched his verbal to South Florida after the firing of Shula. I am praying this doesn't change his mind back.

Yeah - and where are Saban's recruits going to come from the next (x)# of years? He's pissing up a rope playing "Roll Tide" in the SEC, much less having to compete with up and coming schools like USF and UCF.

Both of those programs have decent money starting to flow in and stability. Saban's a flake - something that is starting to become general knowledge on the resume. If I was a recruit that had my choice of schools, I'd put the prospects of Saban being there my Senior year at slim and none. Compare that to Urban Meyer, or even George O'Leary knocking on your door.

Meyer's about to be annointed God, and O'Leary's (UCF) has not won a lot of games yet, but his recruits get playing time and individual all-conference honors, etc. Noticed and Drafted. And you know they'll be your Coach in 4 to 5 years. Still works for Bowden and Spurrier, too

I've got to agree with Le Batard. The guy's an asshole

UCF Flea? You must be an Alum.

Saban may be an asshole, must are you honestly implying that USF or UCF is honestly going to outrecruit him at Alabama? Thats insane, Alabama has deep pockets, great facilities, tradition and insanely dedicated fans. No recruit is going to run to Central Florida over Alabama. Thats just crazy. Saban will have no problem with recruiting. This is a repeat of what was said when he took over LSU. How can he hope to compete against Tennesee? and Florida. Well he did quite well.

And since when do recruits really care about a coach staying four years? They didnt at Miami when everyone knew that Butch Davis was waiting for the right NFL job. They didnt at Florida under Spurrier. Anyone with a clue knows that Charlie Weis is only at Notre Dame until a primo NFL job opens up. Same with Urban Meyer. This isnt 1965 anymore. Players know the deal, coaches know the deal.

Not me.

Over the next 5-8 years, the former "mid majors" will be right on par, yes.

Thats insane, Alabama has deep pockets, great facilities, tradition and insanely dedicated fans. No recruit is going to run to Central Florida over Alabama.

UCF was just an example. Maybe not Central Florida * over * Alabama, but the point is ROLL TIDE is not the place it used to be and other, maybe "smaller", schools will get a piece of the pie, or a second look. For example, a major QB prospect from the Tampa area Robert Marve, once a Tide lock, is rethinking his posistion. That's a kid that will probably be THE QB in 2 years or so. His commital is a non-committial at this point and speaks volumes

And "Tradition" is the big money boosters tired of booking a loser - win at all costs. Will Saban change that? I think not. But, he will get a few years, unlike Shula

Thats just crazy. Saban will have no problem with recruiting.

He had one good year. And the year they "won" the BCS, LSU lost to UF.

Besides, those classes, the impetus of the LSU turn around, were not his recruits. When he tried recruiting on his own, LSU got hit with violations.

And since when do recruits really care about a coach staying four years? They didnt at Miami when everyone knew that Butch Davis was waiting for the right NFL job. That's kind of like saying "why recruit a kid that's just going to make an early jump". And Alabama, despite what everyone says, is not even close to teams like Miami, ND or UF for profile. Saban will get players, by hook or crook - all I'm saying is Saban's history and personality will influence a kid on the fence, and not in a good way. Good things he has booster money, for now

That hasn't been the only game like that this year. The previous week, Montreal and McGill had a game that had 14 turnovers total. And there's been others too.
