As an update; the strike is still happening. Talks are tenatively set to resume on either Saturday or Sunday (Click Here (ottawasun.com) for more info).

Meanwhile, if I don't find a car pool scenario for myself by the end of the day today, I either need to start riding my bike to work or face the $50/day (half of my daily income) cab ride. Oh, and another big snow storm is heading its way up here in time for either tonight or tomorrow.

EDIT: Crisis adverted, car pool obtained!!

Has Ottawa's municipal government done anything to force these guys back to the bargaining table?

The link I gave above is the most recent development to come thus far. No back-to-work legisation has been proposed. Tough talk on both sides until today, which hopefully means that results will happen.

Granted, it's been a while, but when I was working minimum wage type jobs in high school and early college, about 50% of the people I worked with were either married and/or supporting someone else.
