| #1 Posted on 20.3.03 2108.45 | Instant Rating: 5.96 | Hey folks! The 75th Annual Academy Awards are Sunday, so I'd thought I'd crank out a little preview of who has a chance at what...but basically just a general overview of it all. Enjoy! [with files from LittleGoldenGuy.com and Oscar.com]
We'll see Paul Simon, U2 and Renee Zelwegger & Catherine Zeta-Jones perform their Best Song nominated numbers! We'll see dozens of stars in a somber mood because of the current situation...and probably a surprise or two!
My picks for upsets? I think Renee Zelwegger could win Best Actress, John C. Reilly could win Supporting Actor...and double-nominee Julianne Moore could lose out in BOTH of her nominated categories!
Looks to be a good show. See you all at the movies!

I'm surprised CZ-J are performing considering how paranoid she and her husband seem to be about her pregnancy. However, if CZ-J is unable to perform, one assumes they can pop Bebe Neuwirth in pretty quickly.
And is "Lose Yourself" not going to be performed since Eminem passed on doing it? I'm curious how that's to be taken care of.
I have a special friend. He's the baby Jesus and I love him and...and...he don't give me no s**t and he don't f**k around and he's just the f**king coolest guy and I wanna say I love the baby Jesus.I can't say enough.I love the baby Jesus and I think...he's the best thing and he's really great when he shares his love for everbody. You know what I mean?I can't even see a manger without thinkin' about him,eh?I just love the Jesus.I've only been into him for a couple of hours though, but I'm really into him. --Bruce McCulloch | oldschoolhero

| #3 Posted on 21.3.03 0621.21 | I'm not really too thrilled about this weekend's show, mainly because the actual awards themselves seem to be set in stone already and the Academy seems determined to tank their reputation with medicore winner after mediocre winner. Steve martin'll be worth a giggle, though, I'm sure.

Seriously, they'd better get someone who's fairly legit in rap or modern rock, or there's a very high possibility of that level of suckitude. | Brian P. Dermody

Actually, Liza just checked back into rehab. I guess she found out her husband's gay.
Thank you, I'll be here all weekend! Except Sunday morning, I'm having brunch with my aunt.
I think they should let Tom Waits do "Lose Yourself". It would be cool to see, and about the song's only chance for me to appreciate it on any level. If Waits won't do it (and why would he?), they should get Lee Greenwood.
Click the link below for MH's always fantastic Oscar preview, edited this time by my pal Nick Nadel.

That would RULE. The Academy would never be that hip, but it would absolutely rock. (Pointless but cool aside: I once was a teacher for Tom's then-six-year-old nephew. I used to have fun imitating his uncle for him.)
Does anyone remember the time The Ramones were on the MTV Movie awards? They did a medley of all the year's nominated songs, from Warren G to Elton John to Madonna, and it totally worked. Joey sounded great singing "just hit the eastside of the L.B.C. on a mission trying to find Mr. Warren G..." in his own inimitable style. | Big Bad

Well Mr. Burns had done it. The power plant had won it. With Rogers Clemens clucking all the while. Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile. While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile. We're talkin'... Softball. From Maine to San Diego. Talkin'... Softball. Mattingly and Canseco. Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw. Steve Sax and his run-in with the law. We're talkin' Homer... Ozzie and the Straw.
