Orton defends the IC Title this Sunday on Heat.
I think it will be interesting to see how much if any he pops the rating up. Heat a few months ago got a big pop when RVD & The Dudleys were on. This sunday might go along way to show how far Orton has moved up in the fans eyes. A lot of people get spoilers on line so will know he is on and other tune in and tune out Heat if the main event is something they don't feel like watching.
I guess we'll see if Orton has any affect on the rating at all.
Also, Velocity moves to its new time of 7pm et/ 6pm ct this saturday and the WWEexperience debuts on Sunday morning. Hopefully, the WWE draws a few new fans in on the Sunday morning slot.

and thats all i have to say about that!

I don't think it'll matter at all. HHH was on one week and I don't think he affected the ratings one bit.

HEAT is a poor show to watch unless you're someone who absolutely lives wrestling and needs to watch everything you saw on RAW last week again with Al Snow dumbing it down for you so that you understand the "retard Eugene" jokes and you just HAVE to watch wrestling whenever possible... and we'll all already be watching.

Unless you think casual fans think about watching these shows after considering what the quality of the wrestling match will be based on the wrestlers billed to be on the show, which they don't.

I can't remember the last time I watched Heat, I think I actually catch Velocity more, although it's purely on accident.

Heat's great, because it's the only time you get to see Stevie Richards wrestle. I could do without all the flashback to Raw stuff, and that's what really keeps me from watching it through and through. So, mainly I just flip to it on Sunday's, I can't help it I'm a sucker for B-Wrestling.

Also, Orton is defending the title against Val. The 2 of them had an IC title match a month or two ago on Heat that is the best match I`ve seen Orton in to date. (I missed Backlash)

If I'm home or able to watch at work on a weekend, I try to catch either show. Sadly, as the SD! roster has declined, so has Velocity. What once was home to the Spanky/London tag team and "SHADES OF POKERFACE!" now has Bill DeMott comentating and Mark Jindrak.

That Venis v Orton match was Orton's best match thus far.

Not sure how much Velocity affected by trades. AS pre trade I thought after Spanky left, that Heat was the more consistent show.

Now not sure.

While Heat has superworkers of Venis and Stevie. Plus you get Lance Cade, Hurricane...And I'm begining to dig Rosey the singles wrestler.

Velocity still has Jamie Knoble, London, and Doug Basham. Plus you get OJ and I regret that I'm starting to dig Gunn/Holly as undercard tag team.

Jindrak v. Oj was my free match of the week form last weeks tapings.

They really are making an effort. Heat has seen Triple H (vs. Maven), The Dudley Boyz (vs. Lance Storm and Val Venis), Booker T (vs. Matt Hardy), Rob Van Dam (vs. ???) and Randy Orton (vs. Val Venis twice) plus Velocity have regular appearances from Rey Mysterio and also John Cena is wrestling on Velocity this week.

I don't think it would hurt if at least once per RAW, the announcers mentioned the HEAT main event. It's not like finding out that a Randy Orton or a Kane is wrestling on HEAT would *reduce* the ratings.

And you never know; maybe if something noteworthy happened on the show, people would be inclined to tune in. I used to dig the Stevie Night Heat skits...

The only time I really watched Velocity in a regular bases was when Josh & Tazz were commentating together, they were awesome. They had this mix of being really funny & smark sense of humor especially on Josh's side. I usually have a tough time with catching a "Line of the Night" Josh with Tazz had 4 or 5 funny lines a night. I could make "Line of the match" that's how good they were. It really reminded me back to the superstars of wrestling days with Heenan, where you know the jobber matches suck but Heenan kept you entertained. Same thing with Josh/Tazz, they kept you on your toes with their commentary & in the mean time you stayed watching a match that most likely doesn't mean much... Josh Play by play is still good but with Cat before Tazz and now DeMott after, it's just not the same and I hardly tune in.

As for Heat, I watch it more. I think it's mostly due to tradition. I'm used to catching Heat for a while, so I happen to remember to tune in more the Velocity, but these days I'm missing more shows as well... As a Raw women wrestling mark, I used to watch it for the second tier women like Ivory especially, the Raw women roster depth had a bit more talent a year or so ago that you get good matches between of the women weren't on Raw. For example during Gail's Raw push there were some great Trish/Molly SNH matches, and during Jazz-Trish Raw feud there was some nice Ivory/Victoria stuff on Heat. There doesn't seem the depth to put second tier women on Heat anymore the only women Heat match I remember is Lita/Jazz which wasn't very good. Another problem with Heat is I don't think they had a real good commentator since Raven, he was fantastic.

As for Heat's ratings, I remember that week of RVD was in it and it went up to like a 1.4 and the weeks before and after always was around 0.9/1.0. It was kind of strange because they had other huge Raw stars working Heat and it never made much of a difference. Don't know if it had something to do with RVD or if it was just one of those freak things.

So I actually caught Orton on Heat this morning over here, adn rather than start a new thread I thought I'd stick it here. He was drawing INSANE heel heat, and not just "Hey! It's the first big guy we're seeing this evening!" kinda heat, either. The man was OVER. It was a pretty good old-school match, too-not masses of moveset, but some solid psychology on the part of Val and some GREAT selling by Orton.

There was also the Cade/Stevie opener, which was really fun for regular watchers. Stevie's working a Man Of Peace sorta angle, where he doesn't raise a hand against his opponent. So Garrison's just stomping the crap outta him-but he beats him down in the corner, and makes the mistake of yelling "Where's Victoria, Stevie?! She's in my hotel room, that's where!" And Stevie just SNAPS, completely dropping the non-violence and laying into him like crazy. He still lost, o' course, but it was a really fun little bit of storytelling.

Whoa, Randy Orton's defending the Intercontinental Title? This is a momentus occasion indeed!

In all seriousness, though, I can't imagine any scenario in which Orton's I-C Title defense on Heat would anything at all to pop a good rating (even if they did promote it properly). I mean, first of all, he wrestled Val Venis, and everyone knows they're not gonna give the belt to Venis. Secondly, when the heck was the last time a title belt changed hands on Heat? The freakin' Rock/Mankind empty arena match at halftime of the Super Bowl or something?

I think that Malenko won the lightheavyweight title in 2000. I think it was against Crash Holly or Scotty 2 Hotty.

Jerry Lynn defeated Crash Holly for the LH Title in an unadvertised surprise debut/title match on Sunday Night Heat, 04/29/01.

This was pre-Backlash 2001.

I was there.

This was the end of the WWF as you knew it.

Coincidence?

Yes.

How long before Orton starts referring to himself as the greatest Intercontinental champ ever?

I've never really watched the B-shows, but Velocity happened to be on Saturday night when I was channel surfing. I was glad that I watched, because there was a GREAT match between Noble and Mysterio. Better than anything I've ever seen them do on Smackdown. The match was basically Noble working over Rey's arm, but then Rey changed the flow with a couple of sweet reversals and got the pin. Great stuff. I can't believe that they hid it on a Saturday night.

As great as that match was, I think the Knoble/London match from a month or 2 ago was even better.

Does Velocity always have matches like that? Last Saturday, even for that one match, was better than most Smackdowns I've seen recently.

Depends on who is working Velocity. Knoble is pretty much good for a good match every time (although, I may be biased, since he's one of my faves). Usually there's a cruiser/cruiser match almost every week, a tag match, and a couple 1-on-1 matches. Overall, Velocity usually has at least 1 good match, 1 OK match, and a couple matches I'd pass on. Just check the spoilers to see what might pique your interest.
