Only details of the Japanese release are discussed, but the disk retails for less than a standard new release ($43) and will require a relatively cheap monthly subscription. ($4.50) It will require the PS2 network adapter and hard drive. There currently are no plans to use a license.
I can't see myself being too interested in playing a wrestling game online, as (especially with SYM), I enjoyed the single player mode, and found the multiplayer modes best for having friends over. But at the same time, the concept of a Royal Rumble type match, with 30 different live people is tantalizing.

Oh, man, that has major fun-time potential, especially if Sony adopts the face-scanning tech that they're using in Tony Hawk Underground on a wider basis.
Think of the possibilities... a Wienerboard Contributor-only Royal Rumble! A series of Hell In A Cell matches involving the Political forum regulars! TLC matches between CRZ and Guru over new board features! (Of course, they could just do that offline, but I'm on a roll!) Color me excited.

The page is in Japanese, but screenshots transcend language. I'm actually impressed by the graphics, as the stills look nothing like the stills for the Smackdown games. The entrance seems a bit toned down from the WWE games, and the crowd is sparser (but they look *real*), and I can't help but wonder if those differences are more reflective of the Japanese nature of the product. Even though I'm not likely to get it, I think I'm more interested in this game right now than I am in HCTP.
