They TOLD you it was live...but not really. The "networks of NBC" (and the Olympics is the only time they'll brand themselves as such) actually showed the USA/Brazil soccer gold medal game live on Telemundo. (I watched it there just for the GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL! call.) Oddly enough, they never put up the "EN VIVO" (live) graphic...
...but they showed the English-language call of the game on broadcast NBC on a 45-minute delay...and DID put up the "LIVE" graphic.
NBC lies...but I'll admit, this Olympics has been like televised crack for me. I can't look away. Coming up next: I give entirely too much credit-card money to buying official Team USA apparel.
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy.

HELL, yes, Cubsfan. I watched the women's final in team handball too, and lemme tell you, that was simply an awesome. Fucking. Match. Why the hell isn't team handball a thing in the U.S.?
I disagree with the belief that the Olympic coverage is biased towards the U.S., because I watched a triple-overtime team handball game between Denmark and South Korea, both of which, if I recall correctly, aren't even in North America. Not to mention any number of times that I turned on the TV and saw non-American teams participating in sports.
So, to recap-- most exciting sport of the Olympics, team handball. Most boring, equestrian dressage. What the fuck, they give fuckin' medals for the horse walkin' in a damn straight line?

Why Did B-Movies Vanish From Theaters? (blogs.wsj.com) A great interview with Roger Corman on the death of the theatrical release of the "B Movie". I forgot Corman produced Battle Beyond the Stars (youtube.com).
