| #21 Posted on 30.8.02 1146.39 | If they wanted the pros to play baseball in the Olympics, they'd have to make it a winter Olympic sports. There's no way MLB is sacrificing the dinero that a month or so of Pro-Baseball brings in the summer.

| #22 Posted on 30.8.02 2057.02 | Could they use the same arguement against baseball that is used against rugby or cricket? Namely that only a handful of countries practice it in any organized fashion. Besides the U.S., Japan, and the Latin American countries, what countries routinely compete?
It seems like sometime they add and subtract sports in order to spread the wealth around-particularly where TV ratings are concerned. That seems like the only reason they would go so far as adding "extreme" sports to the competition.

Youre talking about the same people who killed one World Series and were quite ready to kill another had not somebody finally come to their fucking senses. Stopping the season for the Olympics is probably the best thing Baseball could do to fix their crappy image. I think it would be an incredible boost to the sport, as long as the players dont go nuts like the NHL guys did.

| #25 Posted on 2.9.02 2359.41 | Cricket and Rugby would be awesome for olympic sports. I think that ENOUGH of the world plays them to legitimize them, and frankly, I like watching them. I don't understand them, but thats never stopped me before.
Oh, and before you ask, the only olympic events I've NEVER watched are probably ice dancing and men's gymnastics. Scary, no?

| #26 Posted on 3.9.02 0219.22 | It would have to be limited overs cricket, not a full 5 day test match. Limited over (usually 50 overs, 300 balls)cricket is pretty awesome and is seen as one of the factors in keeping cricket popular today. It would be a great Olympic event.
I think I heard that they were going to have Rugby Sevens as an exhibition sport in Greece.

Gee, hot babes in spandex. I certainly have no idea why it's in the Games.
Greco-Roman wrestling and the Pentathalon DEFINITELY need to remain in the Games, and I wouldn't mind seeing Chess included; it's seen as the "ultimate" mind game, so I consider it more of a sport than other non-athletic games like Scrabble or Monopoly.
Olympic baseball would be AWESOME. The States, Japan, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico...they'd all field competitive teams. And let's not forget my home country of Canada! (crickets chirping)

| #28 Posted on 6.9.02 0425.25 | Instant Rating: 4.52 | Chess would be a nice addition to the Olympic Games. But while playing chess can be fun and certainly challenging, watching chess has to be one of the most boring activities I can think of. The hot babes in spandex have to stay. Definitely. I'd take time out of my day to watch women's beach volleyball. Men's beach volleyball, of course, I don't give a shit about. Bridge? Heh! Screw that. Simple solution: Hot babes in spandex, wrestling Greco-Roman style, while people play chess. (ducks)
But really, if you consider NASCAR a sport due to the mental dexterity required (and I think it is, although I may not call the drivers athletes based on a physical level), chess must be in there. | chazerizer

I'm not sure you can say theres not a physical element in it, although it is mostly mental. Fighting those cars can be really hard (So I've heard).

Beach volleyball players? Hot babes? Most are a bit thin, scrawny and/or male looking for me to watch just for that.
BV was included because they wanted the US TV audience, and thought they could get more useless gold medals.
