| #1 Posted on 15.2.02 0814.17 | My choices:
Gold: Russia - Solid goaltending with a great team of forwards. Fetisov was a great pick for coach as he has united this team around the goal of bringing the gold back to Russia.
Silver: USA - This team is fast and will take advantage of the large ice surface more than anyone. Mike Richter is the biggest question mark here.
Bronze: Germany - You need a spoiler here and they are playing as good as anyone right now. They may not have the most talent but neither did the Czech Republic 4 years ago.

| #7 Posted on 16.2.02 0950.32 | Ya but these games mean nothing but 'seeding' for the elimination round, so Canada can lose it's first 3 games and still win Gold. Of course if we DO lose to Germany, then we're in trouble.
BTW: You'll porbably be hearing the same excuse from all Canadians right now.
ALthough Canada played pretty crappy in that game.

| #8 Posted on 16.2.02 1132.52 | Instant Rating: 7.87 | Canada needs a new goaltender. They CAN'T keep relying on the same couple of guys forever, because they're getting older. DEVELOP some new talent from this damn country! I haven't seen a new top quality goalie come out of here in a very long time.
Aside from that, why the hell isn't Patrick Roy playing? I heard it's because he wants to rest. Maybe I'm being TOO harsh here, but when you're selected for the Olympics, you have a duty. He's NOT retired, and will certainly have more than enough time to rest up when he DOES retire. He is the most self centred player I've ever seen.

1) Yeah, Roy should have bucked up and played.
2) Canada will ALWAYS have new talent. But right now, the top 4 Canadian goalies are Roy, Broduer, Joseph, and Belfour. Since Roy's not playing, the other three are playing for Canada. But I tell you, Broduer (who is only 29 as I type this) should have stepped in for Joseph in the second period. That would have shaked a lot of people up. But NO, they still let CuJo in net.

The way I see it is he didn't go because he wasn't guranteed to be the starting goalie. But I would of been alot happier if he was there.

| #11 Posted on 18.2.02 1002.00 | That USA-Russia game was pretty awesome. The US got outplayed for 45 minutes but dominated the 12 minutes after that then hung on for dear life for the tie at the end. Thank God for CBUT being on my cable dial so I got to watch the game live instead of on 3-hour delay.
If Richter can put four more games together like the Russia game the USA may be able to take the gold after all. | evilwaldo

| #12 Posted on 18.2.02 1317.23 | I watched and taped the US-Russia game Saturday night and watched it again yesterday. What a great game.
NBC deserves a big **** you for scheduling that game at 11:30PM. That should have been on prime time not late night.

| #13 Posted on 24.2.02 1852.46 | Well, it looks like none of us got it exactly right, although a couple of us got 2 out of 3 on the money and Scar had all the teams in the incorrect order.
