| #2 Posted on 23.6.03 2213.15 | So, after all this time... Kane's "Horrible" face is just a bad F'N HAIR DAY???!!!!!
They couldn't even spring for the makeup, just shave off half his hair...
You know, beyond this, I won't even bitch about it, they obviously don't give a fuck, why should I?
Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray One of them said "what do you want more than anything in this whole wide world Do you want money, do you want sex, or do you want all that success?" I thought about that one myself (Then they came upon the thing)

Anyway, I didn't see anything but the last couple minutes of RAW (it's been an unpleasant weekend), but I'll give them this much. They actually paid off a stipulation for a change. The last one I can think of was probably Kurt shaving his head.

Man, was Kane angry after the match. He was so close to winning, too. It was a great match-the crowd was pulling hard for Kane. Alas. | cactuspete

| #7 Posted on 23.6.03 2258.02 | I knew it would suck. The crowd was hating the fact that Kane wasn't going to take off the mask, then they were pissed into silence when he took it off. JR and the King tried to put it over that Kane was hideous, but that wasn't happening. It was obvious that they just cut his hair, then put some Black make up on his face. Actually it just looked like the Black make up around his eyes just was smeared under the mask. I thought WWE was painting themselves into a corner and they did. I get the feeling that he will have the mask back on next week and a month from now, this night will go into the forgotten bin. Along with "Who raised the briefcase" and "What happened with Steph and Angle in the hotel room after Summerslam." Please do not try to keep this going WWE, it is going to be a losing battle.

Yup. Kane was very sloppy this match, jumping too early for a DDT, then being out of place went HHH when for the neckbreaker. For someone who was handed a main event at MSG, Kane looked like he was sleepwalking through the motherfucker.

| #10 Posted on 23.6.03 2344.38 | I don't see where the crowd was pissed when he took off the mask. I think they were kind of stunned and shocked.
I don't know how to go about this. Kane next week should be cleaned up a little with new tights and look or (my personal opinion) have him look the exact same as he did when the show went off the air. Make it look like he hasn't slept in a week and is losing his mind.
I refuse to say anything bad about this until we see where this goes. I've noticed over the past few weeks people have been saying "Oh, Kane and RVD need to split!" and "If this match doesn't end with Kane as the champ or unmasking, I'll quit watching wrestling". Now, both of these things happen and everyone bitches. I guess I shouldn't be surprised....

They obviously don't, do they?
What is this supposed to prove? They spent all this time trying to establish Kane as a semi-normal human being - with the Torrie angle (Beauty and the Beast, pre-Christmas) and new sort of net outfit, and even the Katie Vick (he had dates?) thing. Now, not only is he E-E-E-V-I-L, but he kinda looks like George the Animal Steele. I guess I could kinda see if Trip had set up the stips, because with the Katie Vick thing it seemed like he was trying to send Kane to madness, but they had Bischoff do it in opposition to Stone Cold. Now, since Stone Cold set all this in motion, is he now responsible for Kane's actions?
I think I better go to bed now. It's getting deep. Like Avenger said, they don't give - why should I?

The Big Bossman raised the freakin' briefcase! No one from the Corporation could interfere, remember, and Bossman was fired from the Corporation, and then,THE VERY NEXT NIGHT, he randomly rejoined them. It's not rocket science, it's just them doing something subtle, for once!
And man, the end of RAW was hilariously bad. This thread makes me laugh even more.

I agree with everything in this post, and its a relief to find this.
Call me a dork, yes, I genuinely marked old-school during the final 5 minutes. Here is something, a guy, whom I've have been consistently watching develop as a mysterious character on TV for over 5 years, contemplating at times whether or not that one major.. 'extension' to his persona would be ever made. Tonight, it, well happened...and kind of unexpectingly. Although it came off a bit weird(and isn't it supposed to anyway??), I definitely reacted to it.
And not much about Kane has been react-worthy within the last 2 years.
I think this was a proper setting to pull off something like this, whether you agree with it being done or not. I don't think its fair to say that the WWE 'didn't even fucking try' here at all. I will give them credit if they are willing to take this somewhere interesting...and it IS too soon to tell. For now, I have to say I honestly appreciate the effort. Many fans have been wanting this for a while, and WWE delivered it. And they can't please everyone at once, they just can't. But I think they did try this time.

| #14 Posted on 24.6.03 0319.34 | Considering the HUGE build up to this match and the fact that it was at such a HUGE venue like MSG, the botched finish and subsequent unmasking were both a HUGE letdown. Kane not only blew several spots, he couldnt even come close to selling the Pedigree that supposedly meant lights out. I'm so tired of seeing HHH get the screw job win that it doesnt even phase me anymore. What a shame that on a night where it appeared that the WWE had all of its ducks in a row the "ugly duckling" fucked it all up for them.

| #15 Posted on 24.6.03 0609.32 | I just watched the match and am very disappointed that Kane lost. The crowd was getting more and more into Kane. I was letting myself actually believe that HHH was going to lose. Everyone was ready for Kane to win. He sat up from pedigrees, he fought off Flair, he revived the original ref, and then... SCREWJOB! A title change would have been so much better than an unmasking. With the unmasking, if you don't make him gross enough, people will say...That's it? If you give him a full horror movie make-up job, he's forced to put that makeup on before every TV, House show, and autograph session. It's lose, lose. Every time I think Kane is going to break out into a huge superstar, this stuff happens. | rob_rouillard14

Hell, its been so long i dont even remember who he beat for it, oh wait thats right, he didn't beat anyone for it. Oh, and is it just me, or does Kane look like Undertaker? | #17 Posted on 24.6.03 0725.42 | I don't see what was so wrong here. I mean, I don't think they should have booked the match in the first place. But, they did. So what else were they gonna' do? They'd either have to give Kane the World Title (uggh...), bait-and-switch and not unmask Kane (which would be stupid, and would turn even more fans off), or give him a monstrous make-up job (which they'd then have to proceed to go through every single week). So really, shaving half his head and giving him slight black 'burn' marks was the best solution.
Bitching about a bad product is one thing (I do it more than most). But bitching for the sake of bitching is pointless.

| #18 Posted on 24.6.03 0727.06 | You know what SUCKED is THIS THREAD
I think what would be great actually is if all you people who *swear* you're giving up on RAW would, instead of come on here and say "whine whine whine sucked never again," say NOTHING, stop watching, DON'T post about the show you don't watch, DON'T tell us what you watched instead, &c. That'd be great.
Triple H beat Shawn Michaels to take the title.
Why exactly would you think that if Kane had won, it wouldn't ALSO have been a SCREWJOB! hmm?
You pick NOW to complain about Kane's workrate?
The next person that asks who raised the briefcase gets a banning, because it was Big Boss Man. Big Boss Man! Big Boss Man!
You know, I don't mean to be one of the people who complains about complainers because that gets us nowhere, but DAMN, PEOPLE. KANE WAS UNMASKED. Go back a week in threads here on this forum and see all the predicted weaseling out of stipulations everybody was SURE would happen. I know that for most of us it's downright inconceivable that MAYBE they have some plans for Kane Unmasked after tonight and MAYBE we'll get a better idea of that next week...but why would we want to let it play out when we can bitch bitch bitch about it tonight, right? There are eight more shows before SummerSlam...I think it'll you to wait one or two more weeks and see where this goes.
EDIT: OMEGA beat me to the punch. Damn you, OMEGA! *shakes fist*

| #20 Posted on 24.6.03 0923.26 | Okay, I missed last night's Raw but reading the recaps I have one question that I haven't been able to get a good feel for from the recaps. Is there a reason why losing his match and his mask is seemingly causing a Kane heel turn? I assume RVD came out to help Kane, and then boom he chokeslams him or something to that effect. It seems like there was a fairly unsympathetic response to this whole thing from the announcers and the crowd, and I am trying to figure out if something earlier caused it. It's times like this I miss the CRZ recaps, as he left in the details that everyone else is too busy editorializing constantly to pay attention to.
