Shame TNA doesn't provide quality wrestling. There's no chance of them getting a national TV spot, so stop dreaming. And there's no more sure a sign of someone running out of ideas and being sheeplike than comparing them to WCW. Yawn.

Gee, that's really funny, cause everyone I know and talk to says NWA-TNA is putting out a product that's WAY better than anything the WWE has to offer right now. Smackdown is close, simply because they're at least TRYING to push some new talent.

Running out of ideas? Sheeplike? I watched WCW from the beginning of the nWo's rise to it's final Nitro. I watched how bad things got, with former stars being brought in and pushed to the main event over much-more-deserving talent, stuck in the mid-lower card. I compare them to WCW because THEY ARE BECOMING WCW.

Errr...no. It's to add more drama to the match. With Booker receiving two title shots in a month, it pushes the desperation factor of Booker in the match. Hell, he looked strong in the match, what with the continual interference of Jericho and Flair. That gives him issues with both guys, and his feud with HHH isn't finished either, setting up the six-man tag.

I *know* it added more drama to the match, but what happens now? When you've basically said that a guy doesn't deserve another chance, i.e. he's a failure, how can you expect the crowd to get behind him?

And you must have watched a different show than I was. I saw the show end with Nash & Michaels staring down Triple H and Flair. Those are the important guys, at least in the WWE view, that are feuding. Booker and Jericho are secondary.

Really? Who have you talked to about it? Most people I know view it as an episode of Thunder meets Hardcore TV which costs $10. I buy comp tapes, and I'm still not impressed, sorry. God forbid I have a differing opinion to you. Just because they're an alternate to WWE, I'm not going to automatically enjoy some of the shit they serve up. And of course TNA are pushing new talent, they don't have any choice. Who else have they got? If you like them, that's cool, just don't expect others to as well when the product isn't that great.

"Running out of ideas? Sheeplike? I watched WCW from the beginning of the nWo's rise to it's final Nitro. I admire someone who watched WCW until the final Nitro, must've took a lot of patience. Hey, I watched from the start until the nWo bored me in '99 and I turned off. It's still not like WCW...how long did it take Booker to get a World title shot there? 7 years wasn't it? Even though he'd been ready for three years. Or Jericho? Or Benoit? You think Cena would've been hussled into the mix this quickly, or Lesnar? How much was Van Dam pushed until they realised he's a novelty act with not much depth to build upon? What former stars are they bringing in now at the expense of more deserving talent?

"If you're looking to shoot down some troll, you picked the wrong guy. Pull your head out of your ass before you start replying. Sheesh.

(EDIT) Oops, turns out you're the troll. Scratch all that stuff above, it was a waste of time."

Yeah, I'm a troll *rolls eyes* Good comeback when someone doesn't agree with you, they're a troll. Nice one.

"I *know* it added more drama to the match, but what happens now? When you've basically said that a guy doesn't deserve another chance, i.e. he's a failure, how can you expect the crowd to get behind him?"

They didn't book him like he was a failure IMO...they booked it so he had Hunter's number, but Flair and Jericho both screwed him out of the title. If anything, that increases sympathy towards his character, and provides a solid base and something that can be brought up in the future.

"And you must have watched a different show than I was. I saw the show end with Nash & Michaels staring down Triple H and Flair. Those are the important guys, at least in the WWE view, that are feuding. Booker and Jericho are secondary."

You're basing everything on the closing shot to the show, just to ignore everything that occured before hand? Someone needs to be secondary, especially in a six man tag. Look at the No Way Out six man...Benoit and Edge were surplus to requirements. It still doesn't change the fact that everyone involved has issues with each other, and that Jericho and Booker are still in strong positions. You can't focus on six people at the same time in the same detail. Just my opinion though.

WWE is dead. It's been dead for a little over two years now, ever since Vince bought WCW. No competition meant no more reason for Vince to give a shit. WWE has just been a rotting corpse of a wrestling organization and, well, we all know what Triple H does with corpses.

Come to think of it, HHH's attraction to inanimate objects with no discernible brain activity might explain the relationship with Stephanie...

Okay, now I'm just being insulting...I'm sure there are a lot of corpses that are both more intelligent AND better-looking than Hunter's trophy whore.

"I thought it was cool how HHH just tossed Jericho out of the ring and made him vanish, possibly into another dimension, at the end of the match." - Dr. Unlikely, from sometime before WM18.

Boy, this is exactly the thought that went through my head at the end of the main event (replacing Jericho with Booker, of course). I had a bad feeling about the match being a screwjob, but eternal optimist that I am, I was still hoping for the best, ala Hogan/Goldberg or Rock/Mankind. But no, instead we got the HHH/Nash/Michaels glorification. Booker and Jericho for that matter are such afterthoughts in this lousy backdrop, that it really seems like lazy writing - "Let's keep Booker and Jericho occupied with these other guys since we can't think of anything else to do with them." Really, I do not see what discernable function they serve by being in this stupid feud. The out was there - split off the belt with Booker and Jericho, while keeping the other three in their issue, and voila, more instant programming to fill the two hours a week.

For some reason, we are still watching at this point. I am getting quite disillusioned with the current product. To even see *Patrick* turning on HHH at this point should say something. I don't know for certain what the answer is to change things for WWE, but I do know this isn't it.

You know who I feel the sorriest for in all of this?

The people of Atlanta. They're so used to screwjob endings from WCW that if anyone deserves to be sick of them, it's those people. So what does WWE do? That's right, another screwjob ending. If I lived in Atlanta right now, I'd be incredibly pissed. There's a reason everyone was watching for run-ins during all the matches. (Although the fact they're in Atlanta could also make it seem like they were going to pull a WCW-style show this week for old times' sake.)

This is the type of match that could be looked back on in a few months/years in the manner the 'Finger Poke of Doom' is looked back upon. Same city, most of the show did not feature matches (4 matches, 1 involving Rodney Mack and 1 involving the black hole of suck in 3MW and Scott Steiner), and many of the people involved in that night now work for Vince. Now, let me be the first to welcome everyone back to WCW 1999: The Summer of Suck Redux.

You know, I don't care who's fault it is anymore. I am fucking sick of these three guys. HHH - No one in their right mind thinks he's ever going to get his comeuppance. He can do whatever he wants, and we all know he'll get away with it. Nash - All I have to say is that he walks everywhere with a pronounced limp, and in this game that's when it's time to hang it up. And good old HBK - Says he's only back to put over new guys. Says he just wants one more run and he's gone. Well, those are obviously both total lies. Bret Hart's right, HBK hasn't changed at all. He's here to put himself over until he finally puts himself in a wheelchair. And not only are we being constantly being subjected to them, they're really hurting themselves most of all. HHH is hurting his credibility, and the other two are trying to hurt themselves physically and permanantly. This is garbage. Before last night, I thought people were being stupid comparing this to WCW, but this is the exact same kind of outrage I used to feel at that product.

When you stop giving people what they paid money to see, they're gonna leave. Over the past three years that I've watched, there has always been a payoff at the end of the show... the heels beat down the faces, or the faces chase off the heels. That's not to say that there wasn't a cliffhanger, or that they didn't entice you to keep watching, but along the way, they rewarded you for watching RAW, too. Little things, like Undertaker and Kane showing up to rescue Lita from the clutches of evil Austin and HHH, or Kurt Angle spraying milk all over Austin, or Austin in the beer truck.

But they're fucking it up. We can't have a main event match any more without random people running in to deliver belt shots. The midcarders, who once were so entertaining, are sinking lower and lower because the announcers don't put them over, they aren't in interesting feuds, and they just generally don't seem into it.

Don't believe the Kliq's running things? Just listen to who the announcers are talking about. Look at their placement on the show (a 6-man tag match gets precedence over Rock/Goldberg??).

Bah. I'd write more, but it's hard to care.

That was EXACTLY what I thought. I think it was a few weeks after WMX8. Remember it was HHH v. Steph v. Jericho on Raw for the World Title and if Steph loses she's gone. And nearing the end of the match HHH just tossed Jericho out of the ring and Y2J was no where to be seen for the rest of the match so they can concentrate on what's important.

Deja vu all over again one year later, The Exact thing happened. The got rid of the unimportant Booker after HIS World title match so they can concentrate on Nash holding his nut, pantless Shawn, and the federation killer Triple H give out evil stares at each other. Jebus it seemed like they did their best to crop out Jericho and Flair walking up the aisle as well

I didn't like the ending. Booker should have won. But the crowd seemed to be really behind Booker. More than they were at Wrestlemania at least. I still think Booker is going to get the title, and probably pretty soon. The fans are ready now. It would be stupid to ignore that.

Ah, that's right. Geez, the similarities almost make this seem like a deliberate part of Hunter's moveset. It's like a Super-Finisher; HHH's equivalent of say, a Houston/Harlem Hangover or the Shooting Brock Press of Neck-Crushing Doom. More devastating than either of these is The Glass-Ceilingator! One toss out of the ring and you're gone!

Just wait though, in a year Booker will realize that he can't possibly beat HHH for the title and will become his willing lackey too.

At the EARLIEST, Booker's next turn in the Title rotation will be at SummerSlam (Nash next month, the other guy from the Starrcade '98 the next, no RAW PPV in July).
And, Vince has done a pretty good job the past few years giving the fans exactly what they don't want, so why would he stop the successful formula that has caused XFL 2003 Playoff fever to grip the nation?

That being said, wouldn't July be a good time for a free-TV title change? With no PPV during that time, Raw will need some BIG moments. Hey, I'm realistic. I've pretty much given up on Book winning the belt at any time, but there should be some good stuff on TV at that time.

And by the way, have the spilt PPVs been confirmed yet? Or are we still operating under wrestling website speculation? I didn't read Linda's financial report in detail. Was it mentioned there?

Yeah, I'm a troll *rolls eyes* Good comeback when someone doesn't agree with you, they're a troll. Nice one.

My overall point from my first post was that WWE has gone severely downhill, NWA-TNA is the only realistic competition right now, and they aren't much at that. They do have older stars (Jarrett, Bagwell, Hall, Syxx-Pac have all passed through since it's beginning,) yet they still manage to put over the younger talent without making them look inferior.

Towards the end of WCW, they became bland, predictable, and held too many older, over-exposed "stars" in the main event. They lacked continuity, and held talented wrestlers in stupid, dead-end gimmicks. Watch WWE Nitro sometime, you'll catch the drift.

Older stars brought in in opposition to pushing and building new talent, and/or to pop the ratings instead of focusing on content:

Hogan.
Nash.
HBK.
Goldberg.
Steiner.
Sable.

I won't say Piper, because it seems that he's actually being used to push O'Haire.

I didn't call you a troll because you disagreed. I had an entire post BEFORE that as a reply. But you are a troll. Whether you agree with me or not, you're still a troll.

Linda's comments at the last 'I just found out about Trip and my daughter recently, although it was brought up in a court room I was in several months ago' lie to the share holders conference call stated that split PPV's would be beginning this year.
And, its doubtful the belt would go to Booker in July on free TV anyway. The path the belt appears to be going is Nash gets it next month, the guy he faced at Starrcade '98 gets his job back at the RAW PPV, then Trip faces him for the belt at SummerSlam.
