PETA to Hand Kids Buckets of `Blood'
CREDIT: FOXNews.com

"By KFC fast food restaurants and nearby schools, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) activists plan to hand out buckets of `blood' to children. The activists want them to know that KFC's secret recipe is cruelty to animals.

The buckets contain a bag that has fake bones and fake blood inside, a cardboard graphic showing Colonel Sanders wielding a butcher knife towards a chicken with a terrified expression and a bloodied plastic chicken.

The spokeswoman for KFC says: "We don't comment on the corporate terrorist activities of PETA. They are corporate terrorists and just like the United States government, we will not negotiate with corporate terrorists.""

-----------------
I think this will go over oh so well. I think PETA may have really lost it. Is eating meat THAT bad? I cannot say I agree with this but for some reason I would love to get me a bucket.

Man, I think I'm going to go to KFC, and I don't even like KFC chicken. I just want one of those buckets. I'm pretty sure this won't work out exactly like PETA wants it to.

I am not a fan of PETA and will no doubt laugh in their faces if they come near me.

But how about that statement from the KFC spokeswoman? Likening this to the terrorism that the US Government has to contend with? If the PETA people start killing people that eat at KFC, then you might have something. As it is, it is not terrorism to peacefully hand out items outside of restaurants. It might be solicitation at worst, but it's a little tough to correlate PETA and Al-Queada.

"Corporate terrorism" does not imply killing, in my mind.

Terrorism - The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

But according to the definition of terrorism, this act by PETA shouldn't be called terrorism. While the intent to intimidate and coerce for ideological reasons is there, the unlawfulness and force/violence is not.

Random Observation: I wonder if they got the blood from Shawn Michaels forehead.

I used to underwrite and sell malicious product tamper insurance and property terrorism & sabotage insurance to the food industry and we definitely viewed PETA as "corporate terrorists".

While PETA may not technically be committing any crimes here, they are linked to both the ALF and the ELF, which are probably the most active terrorist organizations in America. If I were KFC (and McDonald's, who've also had to put up with PETA recently) I'd go the "implied threat of violence" route to shut these idiots up. After all, if the "Buckets of Blood" wind up backfiring on them, who's to say they won't place a few calls to their militant wings and start burning down fast food places?

Best way to deal with an animal rights nut is to calmly ask him or her how much he or she knows about animals, and when they answer "a lot" say "great, maybe you can help me."

Then ask if they know the most humane way to remove the teeth and claws from a hamster.

KFC uses a chicken feed supplement called 'Tricalcium Phosphate'. The main ingredient in this is 'gypsum'. Gypsum is what drywall sheets are made of.

Every time you eat KFC chicken, you are eating a chunk of your walls in your home.

Among the various things this does to the chickens you eat are rapid growth, which allows these chickens 42 days to grow to complete adulthood, and deformation, which is why for the past 7 years that KFC has been using this stuff, the leg and wing pieces have gotten drastically smaller and the breast and thigh pieces have gotten twice as large.

I still eat there though, cause it DOES taste good as fuck.

After reading this I had a vision of Old MacDonald breaking up bits of Gyprock (drywall) and throwing it on the ground going "Here Chook, chook chook" I had a drumstick at KFC a while ago that mustn't have had its far share of Gypsum - it was so greasy - gross.

Unfortunantly battery chooks are cruel. I defy anyone to go into a battery meat chook shed and not think "Shit, this is no good"

As an aside, when I studied agricultural science at high school, our project was to run a few head of chook for most of the year (I lived in a rural area). We went out to the "farm" and picked up what we wanted. I got 4 pullets (4 week old females) as I liked the idea of a supply of free range eggs. Now this farm was a meat chook farm, and these four chooks of mine beefed up quicker than Cartman on weightgain 3000. No eggs yet though, but they were only young. Then the first one got sick. This was about the three month mark. Not wanting the others to get sick as well we put her down (Humane .22) At the 4 month mark another got sick, same symptoms of struggling to walk, engorged crock. At this point we thought there may have been a bug in the ground getting at them so we spent some effort working out what it was. The second chook was put down. Turns out the disease was occidiosis, so we set up water treatments to try and stop it. At this point Chook number 3 was starting to show symptoms, so we isolated her in an attempt to bring her back. Too far gone - time for the .22 again. The last chook went well, and by now was a monsterous size. Head height was approx 2feet, and she was now being affectionalty called "Big Chook". Now Big Chook did lay one egg, but because she was a meat chook, and meat chooks generally don't lay eggs, she laid it from her perch - and forgot to put a shell around it. At about 6 months, we noticed big chook start to limp, then crawl, and alas Big Chook had a meeting with the .22 in the garden as well.

Now I had to go to my teacher with the news of "erm, all my chooks are dead, will I still pass?" Turns out everyone had the same problem so the teacher went back to the breader. Because this stain of chicken was bread for eating, they maximised their size early and we generally butchered when three months old. A side effect of this strain was - you guessed it, occidiosis. But because it didn't usually appear until the chooks were quite mature - it didn't present a problem.

To finish the project I changed breeds. I successfully raised and bred Bantams for many years - and finally got my supply of free range eggs (albeit small ones).

EDIT. I had KFC for lunch yesterday. I love the Bacon and Cheese chicken fillet burgers. Now from memory the US and Aust KFC menus are quite different - but trust me the bacon and cheese burgers ROCK! Dormant occidiosis or otherwise. (Disclaimer: the chicken farm mentioned in this story did not supply KFC so comments about KFC and occidiosis are purely incidental)

The thing is, I just go into KFC, order my chicken and chow down. I don't care how they bred them, I dont give a shit how they killed them. Just as long as they're chicken peices battered and in my bucket I'm happy.

What's the use telling us that KFC mistreats the chickesns? Who cares? They all die in the end, right? So what's the big deal? Slicing the head off a chicken is a fact of life. They're bred for food. Nothing else.

It just pisses me off.
All they want is a little attention. That's it. And if everyone gets up in arms with it all, they'll continue to bitch and complain about everything.

This reminds me of a time a few years ago, when animal rights activists were kicking up a sitnk outside our local MacD's. They had actually paid a guy to dress up as an "evil" Ronald McDonald, and he was scaring the crap out of any and all kids as they passed whilst the protestors tried shove pamphlets into their parents' hands. Anyhoo, we were shopping with a...let's say "portly" friend of mine, who just wanted to go and get a McChicken Sandwich in peace. He tries to make his way through the throng of assholes, and runs straight into Evil Ronald, who promptly tells him about the evils he's about to commit. So my pal does the natural thing in that situation-he rips the guy's big red curly wig off and hurls it to the ground, before carrying on. THEN he got so riled up that he decided to spend the rest of the afternoon trekking around town ripping down all the "Evil Ron" posters the schmucks had put up advertising their little shindig.

People like this are just such unbelievable assholes. It's one thing to serenade a fast food company with letters of venom and corporate protests, it's another to target the consumers who just want a bite to eat. It's equivalent to me walking up to somebody having a quiet beer with an alcohol-poisoned liver. Just fucking offensive.

Gosh... This just gave me a hankering for some KFC.

On a serious note, PETA and everyone involved with them do symbolize corporate terrorism and the sad part about it is that celebrities support this organization and support their causes. Therefore, I have chosen to boycott everything that any celebrity who is affiliated with them is doing or promoting or selling. I'm a one-woman activist here.

Nope, no more Pink albums for me. Loved the Beatles, won't listen to Sir Paul. His daughter Stella doesn't make anything for the size 10 woman, so I boycott her headbands and assessories. No Baywatch either. Did you see Superman? I didn't. Okay.. Okay. I'm just being silly here.

But the one thing that disgusts me the most about them is a lawsuit they filed against my great state of New Jersey. to summarize it a bit, some PETA activists were coming back home and their car struck and killed a deer. Because of that, they filed suit because "wildlife agencies are violating the state's constitutional mandate to provide protection and security to its people" by not controlling the deer population.

Here's a link to an article: http://www.animalrights.net/ articles/2002/000064.html

These are the same assholes who inundated my mother's office, she's also a state employee, with 1,000's of faxes calling for a stop of the bear hunt here this January. She doesn't even have anything to do with hunting laws, but because she's a part of the EPA, there you go.

Anywhoo, my only hope is that the "blood" in the bucket is actually ketchup because I can't eat my KFC without a side of their seasoned fries. :P

Just another example how some assininely self-righteous liberals make other liberals look bad.

I can never get behind PETA. I think the flaming idiocy is the main reason. But... I do not like most of the crap fastfood and agribusiness love to do (Monsanto is trying to get patents for the actual DNA of some of their strains of genetically modified grains, and may have actually succeeded in some places). But I mean this is harassing people for no good reason.

Now I wont lapse into hyperbole to describe the crap some of these groups do to accomplish their aims, but PETA did try and get Dreamworks to stop using the boy fishing off the moon logo, because that promotes fishing, which is cruelty to animals.

Yanno eating meat or not is a lifestyle choice, and not an illegal one. The morality of it is subjective. (Most of the commercial turkeys have been bred to have such big breasts that they cannot reproduce without aid. Ahhhh yes artificial turkey insemination, a sure sign of U.S. technological and scientific achievement.) And while I feel that conditions and standards should be raised, one loses whatever moral highground they pretend to have when they use intimidation and harassment to achieve their ends.

It's always been my belief that the people who preach the loudest are, ultimately, trying to convince themselves. Apply this logic to anyone no matter their political, religious, or any other view.
