It's not a spoiler for me as I only rarely get a chance to watch, but is Ralphie the one who was getting...ummm...hammered (for lack of a better word) by Adriana a few episodes ago?

You mean Janice, but, yes.

Boy, that episode was exactly what I meant about "slow burn" and "if you stop watching now, you will regret it" and "David Chase is not Vince McMahon", wasn't it? Holy fucking shit.

And did you see the previews for next week?!?

Personally, I've made a rule to stop watching previews; they give too much away these days. And after tonight, I don't need a promo to start salivating at the thought of what's to come.

Wow.

I think we can all agree that was one of the best, if not the best, episodes since season one. Not quite, but almost Best. Episode. Ever.

I hope everyone now understands why the season was going so slow up til now...

That last 1/2 hour was bliss.

Oh dude, no doubt.
First words outta my mouth to my fiance when that chick said there was a fire: Paulie did it.

I so have the feeling he jumped ship to Johnny Sack.

Eh, no he didn't. And that wasn't Ralphie's real hair. Also, James Caan isn't Italian.

I dunno if this qualifies as "slow burn." To this point there had been threads casually dropped and forgotten while we wasted time on dead-end plots like "oo, Meadow's not happy," or "Oo, AJ's in love."

I think it was more they finally decided to quit fucking around and advance a plot for a change. We'll see where it goes from here. I'm taking a wait and see attitude before I buy the "slow burn" theory.

Whats so bad about a "dead end plot"? Remember that dead end plot about the cop Tony got busted down so low that he had to go work at a Home Depot store or whatever? Or that dead end plot that lasted a whole episode about the Russian? The only difference this season is that you didn't LIKE the subplots they've used thusfar (not that I can blame you).

As far as slow burn goes; this WAS a slow burn, not plot wise but violence wise. The reason season 3 had so much violence (especially towards women) was because David Chase felt the audience was liking the characters too much. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this season he was trying to keep us in suspense as to when the violence is going to happen so that we don't start liking that too much and wanting it every episode.

Trust me, the plots are coming together. And don't forget: a lot of this show has to do with what's really being said underneath the conversations... remember what Tony did to the guy from Animal House after he found out he was dating Tony's ex, even though Tony told him it was cool? Well, Tony told Ralphie he was dating his ex this episode and Ralphie blew it off as if it were no big thing due to his other problems. Then the stable burns and the horse that all three of them had a connection to dies. Tony went to Ralphie's house already thinking that Ralphie burned down the stable because of that, not just the money.

Of course, I could just be overanalyzing. Stupid theatre degree, interfering with mindless viewing...

They're usually stupid and waste time.

Eh, didn't like those much either. The only dead-end plots that really work for me are the ones that lead to larger plots like when they busted out Scatino.

I'd gladly sacrifice violence for plot every time. So long as the plot doesn't involve AJ, Adriana, or Meadow. If I want nightmarish violence, I'll watch OZ.

The last 1/2 hour was very good.

Episodes that feature Uncle Junior are usually pretty good.

Does anyone know the song they played during the closing credits?

First Richie, now Ralphie. Why do all the good heels get chopped up to little pieces? Um, Trip, Mr. Chase is on line one, something about appearing as a heel.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

Line of the week: "Can I have some ice cream."

I'm curious as to what this storyline with Uncle Junior is going.

Just watched it last night, so just some thoughts to share:

Not that I didn't give a crap before, but with this new "Jun/Alzheimers" thing, I am with you. I mean, maybe he gets the case thrown out and gets back into the family business. I thought Pantoliano was awesome on this show, and the call he made to Paulie's mom...I was cracking up. The whole scene in the hospital waiting room was fantastic. To me, this was the best episode since "The Pine Barrens", perhaps better. I understand how important the Dr. Melfi character is, but I was just as happy not to see her.

AJ though....I just don't get it. This has to come to a head sooner or later when we realize why he is such a surly airhead. I would say he kills someone, maybe his girlfriend, before the season ends.

Who takes over Ralphie's group? The fat guy named Vito?

Can you see Christopher whacking Furio, for Tony, over the whole Carmella situation? Christopher is blood-related to her, after all.

One more thing...Didn't Ralphie look pretty "settled in" to his house? I mean, wasn't it just 2-4 weeks ago when he was about to move in with Janice, and "had just gotten all of his stuff out of Ro's"? A busy single guy has that kinda time to find a nice home and situate himself in there? Hell, I just moved 2 months ago, am married, and still got friggin boxes all over. Nitpicking, I know.

Plus, Rosalie was terrific in the show also.

*sigh* My desire to watch this show just went down so fucking much tonight. John Vito and Jill are gone, while team Asshat and Flozach are still in the fucking race. (Zach isn't bad, but he's guilty via association with Flo)
