I'll go on record right now and say that when the ratings come out, it will show no significant drop after this segment. While that doesn't prove millions wanted to watch, it will prove that it didn't drive viewers away either.

Edit: C'mon Steph, I said a decent reaction, and that's all it got. It wasn't so hot that you would think that they had a heat machine. And do you really think they would go "Hey, let's put some heat machines here, but don't make it real good, because that wouldn't be believable. Just make it OK." It wasn't a heat machine. OK reaction, not hot.

Might as well post other noteable notes on the show...

Big Show won a three-on-one handicap against Rico, Rosie and Jamaal, only to be told later by Bischoff that he'd been traded to Smackdown (we did not get to hear who RAW got.)

Pretty much every feud covered on the show was a rehash of the feuds played out on "No Mercy". It was like the writers said "Nobody watched No Mercy, lets just throw the same cards against the wall for Survivor Series. It works for house shows." The exception to this was a progression of the Al Snow/Chris Nowinski feud.

Goldust and Booker T had an outstanding promo while bugging Victoria (Christian and Jericho had done something similar in the show to Trish). Goldust made the whole show for me.

The main ended in a five-star pinfall for RVD over Flair. Meanwhile, backstage, Kane and HHH are going at it while Hurricane awaits with an open car trunk. HHH gets stuffed, Kane tells Hurricane to get out, and Kane takes off with HHH pounding on the...blatantly open trunk lid in clear camera shot.

Which somehow was a fitting way to end this show.

I'm inclined to think the crowd was in full shock/apathy mode, and the production people said to themselves, "The segment's dying! Give it a goose!" I agree the heat never reached Goldbergian proportions, but I still think that wasn't a real response. Anyone who was *at* the show care to comment?

I agree with some of the people on this thread, I thought the segment this week was so over the top and so contrived, that it was a bit funny. It was funny to see Triple H trying to "act" as though he is Kane 10 years ago, with a video camera obviously taping the whole thing.

To be totally honest, I didn't mind this week's segment, even with all the footage, as much as I had a problem with last week's promo.

I think the big difference was that last week featured a serious Triple H discussing drunk driving and necrophillia, while this week they had no illusions about even trying to be serious. This week was a huge joke, and it was so obvious (even in it's terrible form) that you had to see it as just another one of Triple H's silly attempts to psyche out his opponent, and this time he got what he had coming to him in the end (we, as marks, hope). Lawler wasn't trying to convince us the tape was really Kane, he was trying to convince us it was funny, with JR arguing that it was distusting and distasteful.

Last week was totally different, both in the way they portrayed it, and in the outcome of match. It was really a question last week of wether Kane really did do those horrible things, and Lawler last week was trying to convince us that the accusations were true. It was just a totally different feel to the whole thing.

I officially remove the title of "PoocHHHie" from Triple H for involving himself in such a stupid angle. He may put himself over everybody like Kevin Nash does, but Big Sexy never humped a corpse.

Thus, Big Sexy shall now and forever remain the biggest Poochie of them all.

"See Nash, you can wear any Halloween costume you want to, but you know and I know that you're only half the man that I am - and I have half the brain that you do."

It's too bad H couldn't find a fat guy and a tall guy to play Undertaker and Paul Bearer for cameos.

(By the way, put me in the "not offended, it just was too long to be so unfunny" category.)

Yeah, it was so obvious that is almost makes you think it was the FREAKIN' POINT.

My summary on this: Was it bad? Yes. Did I laugh? Yes. And the only people who are offended are the people that take A) wrestling and B) themselves WAY too seriously.

Upon further review:

I think that they wanted to be funny with this video, but I don't think they could bring themselves to go all out with the cheese after taking themselves so seriously before. I'm crossing dangerously into (ugh) fantasy booking here but...

I think it wouldn't have been a problem at all, had they hammed it up even more. I liked HHH's "It's me...Kane" and the blatantly over done technical gaffes (HHH wearing a new Kane shirt, Katie actually being a manaquin), but if they wanted to do this, they should have just gone all out with it.

-Have Ric Flair wander into frame before suddenly realizing that he's not supposed to be there and dart off.

-Have HHH "accidently" knock over the coffin, knocking "Katie" out and showing the audience that "yes" this is stupid and fake, and HHH is just trying to mock Kane.

-Have HHH yell "I am the Game!" or one of his other catchphrases, before realizing that Kane wouldn't have actually said that.

-Be really over the top with his references. Have him continually refer to himself as "Kane" or "Not HHH". Also have him throw in some overblown pop culture reference for the early '90s. ("Sorry we never got to go to that...er...New Kids on the Block concert, Katie")

-Something should have exploded or started on fire. Triple Kane + Fire = Hilarity.

If they would have just had more fun with this, and not gotten so lost with trying to shove their point across (HHH is an EVIL man who would stoop to making necrophilia videos about his enemies to put them down), it may have been a fun, if not good, angle.

I should have listened to spf2119 about HHH because he is the smartest Wiener around.

Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)

Vikings (1-5) - Well on our way back to 1-15.
Badgers (5-3) - Apparently the Motto is now "Wisconsin: Seeing How Many Close Games We Can Lose"
Twins (OUT) - Oh well, if we're still around next year...
Buffy 7.4 earns a 6.123 Out of 10 for being contrived and rather stupid. But at least the characters are less annoying than last season. And next week: All Anya, All the Time.

Now, if they had done what Excalibur suggests, then it might have had some camp value. But as it was now, it wasn't funny, it was just infantile. But then, I think I said in another thread or something that I guess I am no longer Raw's target audience. People on here found the skit to be hilarious, and good for you. I'm sure that lots of people will go to see Jackass the movie, and think Adam Sandler is the funniest man alive (though admittedly Punch-Drunk Love could be a revelation), but I am not in that group. As a 24 year old male who has moved beyond poop and fart and dick jokes in my humor to some degree, I guess I really am out of the target demographic of Raw. Dang, it sucks to be marginalized ;)

The only thing worse than watching that garbage is reading posts by the shills. How can any of you call that entertaining? The man simulated sex with a dead body and broadcast it to an arena with young kids in the crowd.

If it was supposed to be camp, then they could've played it up (as Excalibur did a fine job of suggesting). But this was just a mix of inexcusable bad taste and crap... leaning more towards crap.

Honestly, I want to know the real reason behind this, because I don't believe it's to get ratings. Is Vince trying to get kicked off TNN?

Fuck it, I don't care anymore. And a preliminary "fuck off" to anyone who tells me to not watch it if I don't like it.

Well, I can call it funny because I fell off my couch due to laughing so hard. And it's not like this was the first time the WWE has done an angle that was inappropriate for children so it's the fault of the parents for bringing their children to a show that's obviously not geared towards young children. Raw is rated TV-14, which means it's not appropriate for children under 14.

Exactly. I don't think I'd mind this so much if it was part of some camp B-movie, with the role of Triple K played by David Arquette (hey, they have both held the Big Gold Belt). However, I defy anyone to tell me what this garbage has to do with wrestling, especially in a show being broadcast to children. (For those of you who say, "they're not watching/they shouldn't be watching," get lost. You know full well that they're watching.) Besides the poor ethical choice of showing such smut to children (who very well may not understand that Triple K was humping a mannequin), it wasn't well written either.

I can still find enjoyable WWE programming - but I'm increasingly finding it only on Smackdown!. As I mentioned before, I think I'll resort to the recaps of RAW until this crap is washed away.

Should I be appalled for:
a) bring up that joke
b) giving HHH a possible promo for next week?

Tasteless? Yeah.

Pointless? Yeah.

Did I absolutely **DIE** laughing at it? Of course.

I was bothered by the beginning of the promo, when it looked like Trips was trying to play it straight ... But once it got obvious how campy the whole thing was going to end up, I lost it laughing. Hell, my girlfriend hates HHH's guts, and even she was rolling by the end of that skit.

And thirded (is that a word?) I thought it was a horrible segment. I was on the phone with RawLo during this thing they passed off as entertainment last night. I started flipping channels, hoping against hope the segment would be over when I got back to TNN. "Top Gun" on VH1... where the hell was Sponge Bob when I needed him!!!

(For those of you who say, "they're not watching/they shouldn't be watching," get lost. You know full well that they're watching.)

And the bottomline is that it's none of your business what other people's kids are watching. You know, mentally handicapped people may have been watching as well, and they may have not understood. My God Vince, think about the handicapped!!!!!!!!

Look, it's not your job to look after the kids, look after me, look after the handicapped, the stupid, the too smart for their own good, look after everyone in the whole damn world, etc.. That's what pisses me off threads like these. It's not that someone doesn't like a segment, clearly this segment like this will not appeal to a mass audience. I only thought it was OK myself, guilty pleasure. But it's the whole "I didn't like this segment, and neither should you." vibe that I get from a few.

BTW, if they would have done what Excaliber05 posted, this moves from 'few chuckles' territory to 'LOL' territory. You should be writing for them Excaliber. As it is, while the humorous tone is still better than the serious tone they were going for before, this hasn't been near enough to make this whole Katie Vick angle worthwhile.

Any parents that would allow their "young kids" to watch this on television, much less attend one of these shows in person is not fulfilling the responsibilities of a parent.

I don't think anything has changed. Most, if not all, of what Meltzer wrote still stands true today. It's just that more facts are now known. The Undertaker, Chyna, and HHH knew about it ahead of time.
