Remember the 2001 Clooney/Pitt remake of the Best. Movie. Ever...1960's Ocean's 11? (IMDB.com)

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been signed for the sequel, Ocean's Twelve. (Yahoo! News) Apparently, the whole cast, and director Steven Soderbergh, are back on board as well.

Keep tryin', Warner Brothers...you'll never get it as good as The Rat Pack did it 40 years ago, pally.

Star wipe, and...we're out.

I dunno...the remake was VERY cool.

And it solidified my non-sexual man-crush on Brad Pitt, so it's got that going for it as well.

I haven't seen the original, but the Pitt/Clooney one was a pretty cool movie. I don't see that it can logically have a sequel though. Especially with the lame Ocean's 12 title.

I don't see a problem with it. I'm a huge fan of the original and the remake (and the Rat Pack in general) and both movies were great fun. That's all this "sequel" will be, is fun. They had a great time shooting the remake, and they want to do it again. Why not? There's no reason not to make a new movie, and to call it anything unrelated to Ocean's 11 would be silly. Perhaps a psuedo-title like 'Ocean's 11 Take Atlantic City' or something (much)cooler than that would have been better but oh well.

The remake was a GREAT movie. Should be interesting to see what they come up with for the sequel.

My wife and I saw the remake first and really enjoyed it. Then out of curiosity we saw the original and didn't care for it. Glad to hear the original rumors of this movie coming out were true, and that the original cast signed back on.

For months IMDB has saying it's Ocean's 12 because Ocean and his 11 + Julia Roberts (11+1=12) go on another heist.

If it's as fun as the first, as witty as the first, and has the great dialogue and delivery as the first, I will LOVE it.

When O11 came out on DVD, we were watching it in the store EVERYDAY.

Reuben: Look, we all go way back and uh, I owe you from the thing with the guy in the place and I'll never forget it.
Danny: That was our pleasure.
Rusty: I'd never been to Belize.

That scene became an in-joke because we saw it so much at work.

The original Ocean's Eleven was one of the most boring pieces of garbage I've ever seen. For all of the Rat Pack's alleged charm and style, they showed exactly NONE of it; the whole film came off like one big circle-jerk. Even guys like Sammy and Sinatra, who usually ooze charisma, came off flat.

The remake was much better, largely because Soderbergh is an excellent director.

CJ: Uh…Mark, nobody’s going to buy that shirt.
MH: How about if I say that I’ve got…a…uh…?
CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department.
MH: I know! I’ve got it!
CJ: Got what?
MH: Stank! That’s Mah Stank! I’m gonna make a fortune!!
CJ: “That’s Mah Stank”?
MH: On the front it’ll say “Can You Smell It?” and on the back it’ll say “That’s Mah Stank”. Everybody’ll buy it because they’ll think it’s a Rock shirt.
CJ: You know…you might be on to something there, sad to say.
MH: I can’t wait to show mah stank to Trish.

You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didn’t quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as “Stanky.” Think about THAT!

Or hmm, it might have something to do with the time the movie was made and released. For it's time, it was one of the most popular movies released, and the characters did show charisma, just not to the level of today's actors. It's not like it came out yesterday, we're talking 1960 here. You're not expected to like it as much as the current one or even compare it to any movie released in the last 30 years. I think you have to be fair and realize that it was a different time and a different style of movie.

I don't know about anyone else, but I can only hope that Don Cheadle gets a slightly expanded role in the sequel. The first one was great, and the only way that Soderbergh could improve upon it is to have MORE CHEADLE!

I read something before that they never put much effort into the original. It was more of an excuse for them to all get together and hang out.

Ain't THAT the truth? Whenever our little one gets out of sorts for seemingly no reason, she always gets a three word reaction from Mrs. JJD or myself: LEEEEEAVE IT OUUUUT! [/bad exaggerated British accent]

Much like the original film.

I watched the DVD of the first Ocean's 11 before I rented the second one.

I hate to say it, but the Rat Pack version is way better; just like the James Caan "Rollerball" is better than the second one, even if it had John Stamos' wife in a role.

It wouldn't be hard to be BETTER than the newer "Rollerball"

First of all, most of "today's actors" couldn't hold a handle to Sammy and Frank in terms of natural charisma. I wasn't saying that the Rat Pack didn't have style, I'm just saying that the original Ocean's 11 did a really poor job of showing it.

Frankly, I generally prefer the slower, more deliberate pace of older movies...I'm a film studies major, so I've watched scores of them. Most modern movies are set up more like video games or TV sitcoms than actual films.

The original Ocean's Eleven was at the bottom of the pile of the Ratpack collaborations-it just didn't really click and had the air of a vanity project, which is something that they miraculously managed to avoid in almost everything else they'd done.

Besides, how can you not love a movie that has Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Cheadle, Reiner, Gould, Garcia and Vincent MuthaFuckin' Cassel ALL on its cast list? They're one Samuel L. Jackson away from being coolness personified.

I am a huge fan of the original, but I too must say that the remake was effin amazing!

I thought it was the best movie the year it came out. Probably would've garnered some awards had it not been a remake.

I dont know how they can top it in 12, but I will see it.
