Pretty much the first name I thought of when I heard about the opening. It's past time to have a Hispanic on the court and having only one woman was fairly ridiculous as well. Barring any unexpected revelations she should have little trouble being confirmed. If the right fights her, it will only serve to hurt its standing with Latino voters.
I would like an explanation regarding these quotes:
“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,” said Judge Sotomayor, who is now considered to be near the top of President Obama’s list of potential Supreme Court nominees.
...
“Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences,” she said, for jurists who are women and nonwhite, “our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging.”
These are not automatically "bad" or "wrong" things to say, I would just like her to elaborate. And I'm guessing she will be asked to elaborate in the coming days.

I don't know her record on what I consider the vital issues, and it is possible she has made no rulings in that regard. She can't be worse that Souter, so I am all for that.
Hmmmmm Let's see. Abortion is my #1 issue. So, what's her deal

Sotomayor held that the policy did not constitute a violation of equal protection, as the government “is free to favor the anti-abortion position over the pro-choice position, and can do so with public funds”
That seems promising
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
That the universe was formed by a fortuitous concourse of atoms, I will no more believe than that the accidental jumbling of the alphabet would fall into a most ingenious treatise of philosophy - Swift
Could we not make this the "post every link on Drudge Report" thread? If you have an opinion, please share it but I don't consider "Oh boy, fox is going to like this," suitable context for a post consisting solely of a YouTube link.
(Not to mention you probably mean "FOX News," which is totally different from "FOX," but is a moot point because networks don't think AND ALSO I don't think anybody cares what they'd think even if they did. I AM VERY GRUMPY.)

I think it has been about 17 years since an abortion case went before the Court, so I doubt another one will come up in the next 3 sessions. The concept of using 'feelings' rather than law to look at cases concerns me. But, she would need to have skeletons of skeletons in her closet not to get through this Senate.
Coming from the Right, I've got no big beef with her.
I'm with BucsFan with regards to her comments, but as he said she'll be asked for clarification, before her confirmation. I can't imagine it's as black and white as it's being made out to be.
Let us not forget that she was the one that got Major League Baseball going again, by issuing a preliminary injunction in 1995.

Actually, they have. Of course, no one has figured out how to trick Xbox Live (the online service) into thinking that the machine hasn't been tampered with. -Jag
