Interesting move from the A's, considering Holliday's home-road splits.| Promote this thread! | | BigDaddyLoco

Dunno if this fixes Holliday's grievances of not wanting to play on teams that have a chance to win only if everything goes right, though.

He's a great hitter, but as Big Bad said, his home/road splits are a concern, as is his D(but he IS a corner outfielder, so not a big deal). If the Cards are set on trading Ludwick, I'd rather they got an impact 2B,SS, or SP than another outfielder. They have a lot of those on the big club and in the minors.
Typical Oakland trade. He could help them contend, and if they aren't Beane can flip him for more pieces at the deadline. I'd be weary if I was a GM and Beane wanted to trade with me though. I remember the Mark Mulder for Haren, Barton, Calero deal. *shudder* | It's False

Either he turns the A's into a contender and they take the AL West by storm or they stumble from the start and he gets traded to the Red Sox in July. Either way, Holliday's staying on a contender next year.

In the tradition of 'Where would you play Willie McGee', barring injury the Red Sox have Ortiz as the DH, Drew in RF and Bay in LF, with Bay heading into his free agent season. So, barring injury or moving Drew to CF, there would be no slot for Holliday unless he could catch or play shortstop. | drjayphd

Wouldn't be optimal, but didn't J.D. Drew play CF? If Tacoby Ellsbury doesn't light things up, the Red Sox could just do that...
