What will the aftermath be to Kaitlyn shoving Vickie Guerrero on Smackdown? Who will earn immunity from elimination? And what will be the fate of NXT after this week? Does anybody care? Certainly not Michael Cole!

We start with a recap of last week's Musical Chairs and Talk The Talk challenges, both of which were won by AJ, tying her with Nadine 2 challenge victories each.

We go live with Josh questioning why Michael Cole is at the announce table and wondering about the whereabouts of CM Punk. As are we all, as Punk is sadly not here tonight. I guess he got tired of having to watch the show while wearing pants.

Up first we have the Wheelbarrow Race, which is apparently the Diva equivalent of the keg carry, with each diva having to run around the ring while pushing a wheelbarrow.

Maxine is up first. Striker prepares to start the race but then stops and says that an empty wheelbarrow isn't much of a challenge and that they need something heavy for the rookies to push, which brings out Hornswoggle!

The rookies have to push the wheelbarrow around the ring in the fastest time and if Hornswoggle falls out, they're disqualified. "The things that happen on this show." remarks Cole.

Maxine doesn't do bad, making it across the finish line in 14.7 seconds. She lets go of the wheelbarrow and sends Hornswoggle flying but since it didn't happen until after they crossed the line, she's safe. Hornswoggle takes offense and bites Maxine on the ass.

"Bad! Bad!" scolds Striker. "Do you think that's how he talked to his kids when he was a teacher?" asks Josh.

Nadine is up next. She makes it across in 15.2 seconds. Not good enough to beat Maxine.

Jamie completes the circuit in 14.4 seconds to take the lead but nobody cares.

Kaitlyn first tries to climb in the wheelbarrow with 'Swoggle but Striker disallows it. Josh states that, having one the obstacle course, Kaitlyn should have an advantage here. "You're analyzing a wheelbarrow race!" exclaims Cole.

Kaitlyn flies around the ring in 12 seconds even! She falls as she crosses the line and also dumps out Horny but immediately offers him a hug and he forgives her.

AJ struggles with Hornswoggle's weight and it takes her 17.7 seconds to make it around. She gives him a conciliatory hug but the leprechaun won't let go, as Cole remarks that they're the same size.

Striker refers to Hornswoggle, in his green helmet, as the Great Gazoo as he gets back in the wheelbarrow for Aksana's turn. Aksana manages to pull it off in 13.9 seconds, the second fastest time, but not fast enough to beat Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn lifts up Hornswoggle in a massive hug and swings him around, Hornswoggle responds by putting his head between Kaitlyn's legs and then lifting her up into the air on his shoulders. Hornswoggle is the John Cena of midgets!

Vickie hugs Kaitlyn in celebration, having apparently forgiven her for their altercation on Smackdown.

This Week in WWE History airs. 13 years ago, on 9/22/1997, Cactus Jack defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley in a falls count anywhere match after piledriving him through a table. (Did the news sites miss Foley resigning with the WWE? That's the third reference to him in two days.)

On the same night, Stone Cold Steve Austin hit the Stunner on Mr. McMahon for the very first time, all of this taking place in Madison Square Garden.

An AJ hype video plays and I want to punch her in the face until she stops giggling. They show WWE footage of AJ standing in line at Madison Square Garden to buy tickets for Wrestlemania XX.

Raw Rebound is a great recap of Orton / Jericho.

Josh announces that NXT will be officially moving to the Internet starting next... Tuesday, I guess. I didn't pay any attention, since I'm on dialup and won't be able to watch it.

A Kaitlyn hype video plays. She seems so much more real and comfortable than the other women did in their videos.

Smackdown Rebound: The entire Kane promo from the end of Smackdown, completely unedited. I get the feeling they're trying to kill time here.

It's finally time for Dis The Diva, in which each Diva is given time to insult all of the other divas.

Aksana actually gets a pop simply for saying "Look at me!" and turning around. She then says that she's in the gym every morning, doing 500 situps and 500 crunches. First, is there an advantage to doing both? Second, why the hell would you need to go to the gym to do them? She then says to look at all of the other rookies. While she's in the gym, they're all eating pancakes. I.... can't even respond to that. Michael Cole begs for his gong.

AJ isn't going to dis the other rookies, although she talks about how much bigger their boobs are than hers without explicitly insinuating enhancement saline. AJ is a nerd and she's going to "Redefine Diva."

Kaitlyn asks the WWE Universe to guess who she's impersonating. She then sticks her ass as far out as she can and waddles around, to which Nadine responds by kicking her in the ass and sending her sprawling. Kaitlyn states that even though she just got knocked on her ass (Striker points out that she landed on her face) she's still going to win NXT.

Jamie starts out by making fun of Aksana's outfit, saying she looks like a circus acrobat. "You're wearing the exact same thing!" says Josh. She then says AJ is constantly acting like a 10yo on Christmas. This is the second time Jamie has targeted Aksana and AJ and ignored everyone else on the other side of her. Is she blind in one eye?

Nadine just insults everyone else's wrestling ability before lighting into Kaitlyn in regards to bitching about Nadine in her "confessional" which I assume is a Real World ripoff that airs on the website. Kaitlyn responds with another Nadine impression.

Maxine talks about how she should win because she's the only one who stands out from the others, due to the fact that she isn't super perky and doesn't smile even when she loses. As Maxine drones on, Kaitlyn and AJ start doing the robot behind her. Josh tells Cole to pay attention to what's going on, Cole says he's too busy texting. Kaitlyn & AJ switch to playing pattycake as Maxine finishes up with her catchphrase about being on top.

Striker asks for the audience's votes. It sounds to me like Naomi got a slightly bigger reaction than AJ but Striker awards the victory to AJ, which gives her three victories and immunity from elimination next week. (Kaitlyn got the biggest reaction but it was a combination of cheers & boos.)

EXCUSE ME! Vickie Guerrero heads down to ringside, looking unhappy. "Finally!" exclaims Cole. "Finally, we have some class and beauty on this show." "No, that's Vickie Guerrero responds Josh." In what might be the greatest call in NXT history, Michael Cole refers to Vickie as "Anna Nicole Smith-like."

Vickie goes on about how she's tried week in and week out to mold Kaitlyn in her own image but Kaitlyn constantly disappoints her. Kaitlyn fires back and ends up challenging Vickie to a match. Vickie accepts and slaps Kaitlyn hard enough to drop her to her knees but Kaitlyn is quickly back up and a brawl ensues. She shoves Vickie to the ground, mounts her and makes with the pulling of the hair. They brawl back and forth as Striker breaks them up. And thus ends the final televised episode of NXT.

Except that Dish Network's programming guide informs me that prior to Smackdown, they'll be airing the February 23rd debut of the series.

I may have to make the 25 mile drive to town to catch next week's episode, just to see Kaitlyn vs Vickie Guerrero, which is destined to be the greatest match in the history of the World Wide Web, even though I suspect that Michelle McCool will be taking Vickie's place.

I'm actually sad to see the show going off the air. You'd think SyFy would be willing to finish the season out. It's not like Caprica, which airs in it's spot next week, is going to bring in the ratings.

But I'm confident that Kaitlyn will not only be the Undefined Divas Champion in the immediate future but will also be unveiled as the Raw GM, resulting in this being the greatest season of NXT ever.

Sadly, NXT has been pulled from the Universal HD lineup as well - Saturday reruns are now going to be RAW followed by Smackdown. Not that you'd want to carve out an hour of your vaulable time on Saturday for THIS episode.

No CM Punk.....BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

A couple of lines that made me chuckle out loud -

Striker: "We need something heavy to put in the wheelbarrow, like Cole's ego."

Josh (to Cole): "FAAAAACE!!!!"

Also -

Striker: "Ok Great Gazoo, get in the wheelbarrow."

The NXT hatred on commentary felt a bit forced this week, like they were trying a bit too hard to be contrarian ... It's like they were aware that they were supposed to be "hating" on the show (if that makes sense).

Anyway, for me personally, that made this episode go from bad-in-a-funny-way to bad-in-a-boring-way, which (obviously) takes some of the joy out of watching.

And I reiterate: No CM Punk = BOO.

Last week, Green Acres. This week, Great Gazoo. What WWE writer thinks this show is being watched by grandparents?

I'm 38. I only know Gazoo from Flintstones cartoons we watched in kindergarten. I can't be younger than Matt Striker.

Does anyone's programming guide go all the way to Friday 10/1? I'm curious as to what's airing before Smackdown that day, what with the premiere episode of season one airing prior to Smackdown this week.

You're barely older than Striker. I'm younger than Striker and I understood the reference just fine. Not every joke has to be tailored to the core audience, especially when they're just offhand remarks that are being made by someone who's not the focus of what's going on at the time.

I popped for the Great Gazoo remark. Because Hornswoggle *did* resemble the Great Gazoo. What else was Striker supposed to say? Something that absolutely nobody would find humorous? I'm not sure why you think those were scripted remarks and not improvisations by Striker (who has shown a plethora of knowledge regarding pop culture, unless you think the writers were writing Morissey jokes as well) but the fact that you're complaining about it at all smacks of a vendetta against Striker regardless of content.

Four words I longed to hear and was denied on Dis The Diva: Cum. Guzzling. Gutter. Slut.

This week clearly established this season as The AJ and Kaitlyn Show. Frankly, I didn't hear a word Maxine said with the two of them playing patty cake and doing the robot in the background, so thank you, AJ & K. Maxine is just punching shadows in the dark now. No one cares about her.

One has to feel kind of bad for Aksana. She's probably trying the hardest of the also-ran Rookies and she's put effort into finding a character and working out catchphrases but no one gives a shit. She can't win. She started out of the gate so poorly and is so far behind, her only hope is to marry Goldust and stay in the company via Superstars. At least she has that golden parachute.

Nadine went from being the hot shit in episode one to practically a non-entity. She said that dirty word no one in sports entertainment wants to hear - starts with a "w". What Nadine doesn't get is that WWE Divas wrestle an average of 60 seconds every four weeks (not a scientific count). Therefore, if you can't bring something else to the table - i.e. look really hot and occasionally say something funny, maybe - but mainly look really hot - you're toast. Pass the jelly on Nadine.

Josh: "Cole's favorite Rookie Diva Jamie!"
Cole: "Ugh. I hate her."

Me too, Cole. Me too.

The WWE Universe is probably throwing their support behind AJ, and I would also like to throw my support on the behind of AJ, but I must go with my heart and vote Kaitlyn. But this isn't about me and how many times I'm gonna vote.

Aaaaaand scene.

I'll miss you on high definition 1080i cable television, season 3 of WWE NXT! So much.

I love Striker. When I recapped SmackDown, I wrote my praises of his remarks.

I mention the older references because I don't see it jibing with the WWE's efforts to aim for the younger set, and I see the announcers as the weakest part of that effort. Lawler and Ross made/make allusions like that often, and it's jarring left-field reference for what's otherwise a full-court press to skew young.

The Anna-Nicole Smith reference may as well be "Jessica Rabbit." To make that joke kill with a modern reference, you gotta mention Christina Hendricks.

Are we no longer thinking the announcers are cued by someone backstage to underscore plot points or toss out certain one-liners?

Just because they're aiming for a certain audience doesn't mean they can't aim some things at another. Pixar often does this, as do other children movies and shows. I believe the term is called "Parental Bonus". Click Here (tvtropes.org) for examples.

Did the news sites miss Foley resigning with the WWE? That's the third reference to him in two days.

The Meltzer story is this is favor payback for Foley coming to Linda's defense in her senate campaign. He was quoted positively about her in a long newspaper article.

It's supposed to be a one hour preview/hype show now. The original plan was to do NXT, but I guess they didn't want to kill the crowd before the big live show.

I hope the WWE.gong version of this show maintains the absurdity as the two prior weeks and doesn't just become some boring regular show now. If anything they should have more leeway to get weird but I'm worried since they aren't amusing themselves while they play out the string anymore. Nevertheless, my HDMI cable will finally be put to good use.

Striker improvises his amazing zingers. The people in his ear just give him time cues and tell him who to eliminate and whatnot.

AJ takes a wrong turn into Panderton, Arkansas. That was embarrassing. I love nerds, and comic books, and action movies, and porn, and torrents, AND CARS, and people who would vote for me in a hypothetical online poll! I was going to but now I kind of don't want to. Don't go all Jamie on us.

PG diss the diva? You poop-guzzling gutter dork. I assumed Kaitlyn's diss was just going to be armpit farts, incorrigible rascal of great comedy that she is.

"Yeahhh I wish I was STRIKER right now" while he was rolling around with Vickie was the only Cole line from last night worthy of the NXT canon.

Maxine is going to use that wheelbarrow to put things ON TOP. I wish someone had Titus O'Neil'd Hornswoggle.

This particular show really was a huge waste of time between promos for other stuff and doing almost nothing actually NXT related, giving us just another prime example of WWE not giving a rat's ass about the entire Diva roster.

I will join in on the Boo's for no Punk, and think that what this show has been missing is a female voice on commentary since it is about the Divas. Beth would be obvious since she is rehabbing and has proven before she is a natural on commentary.

On to the episode itself. While I continue to loooove AJ, Kaitlyn just gets more and more awesome each week. I think they could be a tag team that would really rock, so I say keep them both. Maxine and Naomi are losing ground fast and need more to actually do. Aksana needs to be using her strength as a character to host a talk show segment like she does in FCW. Jamie is going nowhere, in all her speaking segments she sounds like she's ring announcing and that is not working.

In other Diva related things, Natalya is finally getting some notice and hopefully will get to wrestle a few decent matches and show the WWE Universe what the rest of the wrestling world already knows about her. The rumors of "retiring" Jillian as a wrestler and moving her to FCW as a trainer give me mixed feelings. On WWE TV,she is horribly underused and I'd like to see her stay and actually wrestle, but since they won't use her anyway, I suppose it's best for her in the long run.

I'm not quite sure where I'll be able to watch this, as nxt.wwe.com has nicely blocked Canada from viewing the show. None of the links work for me.

I voted for AJ. If I had to guess, Aksana will be the first to go.

And that was a poem by HEIDENREICH!

So does this show going to WWE.com mean we lose the equally as awesome Joey Styles diatribe that follows the next day? I can't imagine anyone green lighting a recap to a show on their own website.

Worst NXT yet and that's not a compliment. While we had vignettes for my 2 favs (AJ&K, trademark that Orq) and my love Kaitlyn winning a challenge it was still awful. The segment was called DISS the diva & only 1/2 even tried any sort of dissing. Even when you added it up that wasn't enough to cover one diva's diss quota. Kaitlyn's impression & background entertainment (kudos to AJ for stepping up with that) was the best part of an awful segment. Show didn't even try to have a shitty match, a full hr of sports entertainment and bad in the bad way SE at that.

This show needs Punk, Gongy the NXT gong and Kaitlyn giving spear spear spears.

Can't believe I never thought of that before or heard anyone else suggest it- seems obvious and Beth would be a great choice.

The show really loses it without Punk, although Cole wasn't great either and the pre-Punk NXT was great. He did awesome making the Anna Nicole comment, in his mind it's true for one reason and in reality it's true for another.

I was getting tempted to take the 4 hr drive to Edmonton in hopes they would do a NXT taping before Smackdown but that seemed like pushing it even after last week's awesome show.

Really, what is SyFy doing cancelling it? Gotta make room for Sharktopus 2??

Hope The Score does air NXT here in Canada- I've heard international broadcasts will still be happening.
