Ironically, next week's holiday episode will probably be the most timely recap I've posted in some time. Although, I've almost certainly jinxed myself by saying that.

Anyhoo, we open the show with our promised match between Carmella and Nia Jax. No real surprise how this one goes. Carmella tries to use her speed and ferocity, but runs smack into a spinning backbreaker. "How you doin', Carmella?" and a nasty headbutt, and I really do like Jax quite a bit. She slows it down with a bearhug, and Carmella turns it into a front chancery in what is probably the best and cleanest thing we've yet seen her do in the ring... well, except for maybe her moonwalk. Jax powers that into a Samoan drop, but Carmella gets loose and goes for the sunset flip. Jax counters with a butt drop, but Carmella gets out of the way, only to get caught going for a headscissors. Jax hoists her into her Urinage-thing (seriously, what is it called?), and the legdrop ends this match.
Match Rating: Not A Bad Outing, All Around.

Backstage, Alexa Bliss has words for Bayley. Mean words. She points out how the other horsewomen left her behind, and wants Bayley to know that's because she wasn't good enough. Bliss is really feeling it now, which is why this is an unfortunate time for the ref to let her know that Blake and Murphy are going to be banned from ringside for the title match. That certainly takes some of the suspense out of this, but I can't argue with the decision.

Our next match is the Ascension versus Jordan and Gable, and the story being told by commentary is that, while the Ascension were the longest-reigning tag champs in NXT history, they probably wouldn't have been if there had been any good teams around at the time. Ouch. Anyhoo, Gable starts for his team, and he and Jordan are able to maneuver, let's say Connor, into their corner, where they deliver a series of shoulder blocks, followed by a cool double suplex. They don't stay on offense for long, though. Once the Ascension take charge, they do the standard cut-the-ring-in-half bit until Gable is able to judo throw his way back to Jordan. The straps come down, and Jordan hits the bell to belly. Victor comes off the second rope with a flying knee, cutting off the rally, but Gable breaks up the pin attempt. Connor gets tossed back outside, and that's enough of an opening for Jordan and Gable to hit the motion-assisted German for the win.
Match Rating: Turns Out, The Ascension Aren't As Good As The Indy Guys.

There's a recap of the Bliss/Bayley feud, and like someone said in another thread: it's not that it's revolutionary or anything, but everything's been executed well, and a simple story told well always beats a complex story told like shit.

Meanwhile, Bayley responds to Bliss. She's still here, but she's here for a reason. She's the champ, and Bliss is about to find out that she's in over her head. Bliss is getting a wrestling lesson tonight.

That was a pretty great promo, in the style of those ones Cena does when he wants to remind you that he's actually the toughest guy in wrestling. I like the idea of adding that dimension to her character now that she's champion.

Next up is Emma versus Some Jobber. It gets mean in a hurry. Emma is all over this girl like a cheap suit. Double dropkick, standing on the hair, and the gloves literally come off. An Emma Sandwich later, and we're ready for the Emma Lock, which now officially gets set up with that stomp to the back of the head.
Match Rating: Relatively Intense.

We also get a quick recap of what happened with Crews, Corbin, and the championship. This is to set up some words from Corbin, who's decided to make this a personal issue with AC, and challenged him to fight at Takeover. I suspect that AC will accept.

Dash and Dawson are out to fight Some Jobbers as well, and this is a straight squash, although we do find out that the Vaudvillains are going for their rematch next week. Huh. Anyhoo, it's all leg-based offense for the champs until they hit the Shatter Machine, a move which does not in any way target the legs.
Match Rating: C'mon, That's Just Sloppy.

Asuka is backstage getting asked about her mask, but instead of answering, Dana Brooke busts in to challenge her for next week. Once Asuka leaves, though, Emma shows up to reveal that there's a ruse cooking.

Joe has been banned from the arena until next week's contract signing, and he wants you to know that it's for Finn Balor's safety. You know what's weird? I really look forward to NXT contract signings. They are always somehow much more interesting that their RAW counterparts.

Finally, it is time for our main event: Alexa Bliss challenges Bayley for the women's championship. True fact: I had to stop taking notes on this match the first time I watched it because it was moving too fast for me to keep up. It starts with Bayley laying into Bliss, and backing her into the corner with stomps, but Bliss manages to sucker her into the corner, though, and turns it around. She taunts Bayley by standing on her head and getting in her face, and this is a mistake. Bayley treats her to a takedown, a flurry of punches, and then some turnbuckle slams. Bayley is on a rampage. Bliss tries to counter, but Bayley outmaneuvers her and hits a low dropkick through the ropes, which sets her up for a bulldog. Bliss kicks out of a pin attempt, and heads outside. Bayley follows her, and Bliss is able to take advantage and slam her face into the apron. Bliss starts working the arm, but Bayley reverses it eventually and works the arm herself. A trio of axe-handles off the ropes looks to be putting her in control, but Bliss counters and lands the Bliss Flip for two. Bliss is getting really frustrated here, and goes up top. Bayley recovers, though, and powerslams her off the turnbuckle, followed by a snap suplex and her running corner elbows. Bliss is ready for that last one, however, and goes for a sunset flip that, again, only gets two. Bliss is losing her mind, now. She starts ranting, getting in Bayley's face, and all this does is give Bayley time to recover. She pastes Bliss with a slap to the face, and then Bayley his the Belly to Bayley to give her a definitive win in her first title defense feud.
Match Rating: Oh Man, I Left So Much Stuff Out, You Guys.
After the match... oh no. Eva Marie is out. And the crowd is shitting all over her. I mean, they are loud. Eva Marie can barely get a word out, and even if she was better on the mic, I think she'd have trouble. Bayley does the thing where she pantomimes that she can't hear Eva Marie, and I don't think it's for show. I think she legit can't hear what Eva Marie is saying. Eventually, Eva Marie gets out that she's got her inevitable title match with Bayley next week.

Man, ain't nobody want to see that. Especially since I think that there's a really unfortunate chance that Nia Jax is going to cost Bayley the title there. It's going to take a Thanksgiving Miracle to save us, guys.

I loved that we got three womens matches and that they all served a purpose. Bayley-Bliss wrapped up that story, Emma looked good against a jobber to show she's ready for her battle, and Nia Jax continued showing she's dominant.

All three matches had a reason to be there, instead of the endless random matches of Stephanie McMahon's Divas Revolution. Love some Nia (and that smile... yes), Emma looks good.

The only one not fitting in is, yes, Eva Marie. Bad promo, crowd hated it and not in a "you're a good heel" but a "go away" way). I'm sad her house show friendship with Nia Jax is going to spill over into the show (I assume) and I'm going to have to start half-liking Eva Marie segments. They really need to find a way to phase her into an interviewer role or something. I get why they want her on camera, and I enjoy looking at her though she could calm the 900 pounds of makeup down, but you can do something else with her and keep her on camera. If you're going to make JoJo be a ring announcer, you can find a spot for Eva Marie.

Jordan and Gable are awesome.

Re; "some jobber" .....Emma wrestled Mary Kate ( using her real name ) who normally works as "Andrea" , most notably at SHINE , and had a brief run at TNA as "Rosie Lottalove" ( unfortunately being known for working the match where Daffney was injured to the point of having to retire from in ring action ) . She also worked extensively in Japan as "Betsy Ruth". She now lives in Tampa and trains out of the Dudley Boys Team 3D academy and with Lexie and Rain at the Slam Shack.

Bayley vs Bliss was very good. Surprisingly good. Bliss has come a long way and Bayley too for that matter. I usually side with heels. Always have since Ventura and the Heenan family, but I love It's Bayley. I haven't been this much into a good guy since probably Jeff Hardy and I'm not a Creature of the Night or a Hugger by any means. Bayley-Bliss will be better than Charlotte-Paige. Just a fun match with a nice little build. That being said ...

... the Full Sail Crowd. Just awful. They're finally being called out on their act, Foley being a major part of that, but what a bunch of dopes. They were just singing the Bayley song and jumping around just to sing the Bayley song and jump around. There was no reason behind it. It had nothing to do with the flow of the match and what was happening. They kill the rest of the crowd, AND the idiots missed the finish of the match putting themselves over.

I've been to shows where small sections have taken over singing and chanting and it's awful for the other 90%, the whole thing becomes a farce. I wouldn't want to be in a crowd with a bunch of people like me either, but if people insist on doing this type of thing fit it into the what is going on.

If you rewatch the Eva Marie promo you'll see Bayley not only leaning in, but eventually she gives Eva a hand signal to spit it out and she then does, otherwise we still might be on the first line she kept repeating.

I can't wait for Bayley-Eva. We're headed for a massive collision of worlds.

Yeah, it's "X-Pac heat," but it's still heat. I'm cautiously optimistic that Jax protecting an unworthy champion could lead to something good down the line, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

That gets old quick. Eva Marie getting the belt would be JBL all over again. Smackdown has never been the same since that happened and I am not sure if the NXT women could survive it.

Not for nothing, but JBL actually showed vast improvement during his time as champion, starting out undeserving and growing into the role. I dunno if Eva Marie can do that, but who knows? Frankly, I don't worry about it that much because NXT is meant to be developmental and throwing things at the wall to see if they stick is kind of the point. Better to have the Eva Marie experiment here than with the Divas title on RAW.

That's not really the same thing, though. JBL never had anyone credible to block for him. He had The Cabinet, with such luminaries as, uh, Orlando Jordan was in there, right? Anyhoo, I'd take Nia Jax over everyone surrounding JBL during his title reign combined.

I get that NXT wants to make Nia Jaxx a prettier version of Awesome Kong but she's still looks in terrible shape. Especially compared to a shockingly toned up Mary Kate aka Rosie Lottalove. I get why they would potentially start a team with her and Eva because they are both green as goose shit.

I don't get how people are upset by rabid crowds. The Full Sail crowd aren't shitting on the matches just because they are bored, or putting themselves over about how awesome they are for being smarky. Let them cheer for who they want when they want, it's encouraged and better than the lukewarm crowds for the bigger shows recently.

I just watched the recent Paige v. Becky Lynch match on Raw and besides one or two spots the crowd was mainly crickets. Then I watched a recent Becky v. Sasha Banks match on Superstars in which they basically had a PPV quality rematch in front of the UK crowd (I recommend watching it in comparison). The small %10 of the crowd who enjoyed those ladies from NXT days were the ONLY ones showing any signs of life by chanting, and it didn't effect the deafening disinterest of the other %90 of the crowd.

Raucous crowd is always better than a dismissive crowd. This isn't Golf or an Opera it's pro-wrestling! Have fun, scream for the good shit.

the look on Nikki when the moyhel did his biz was awesome.Goat humor always works for me so i give the segment a pass, barely. i was hoping Beth/Mickie was really going to rock but Mickie must still be sore from busting her implant.
