Scotty Goldman. Braden Walker. Vance Archer. And there were the sports names -- Bam Neely, Kenny Dykstra, Daniel Rodman. Some of them you just end up used to; Evan Bourne seemed stupid at first since I was used to "Matt Sydal."

Who was Daniel Rodman? I don't remember him.

Gavin Spears, Palmer Cannon, and Gunner Scott were stupid names I remember.

I don't think Dolph Ziggler is such a bad name.
It sounds totally jerkish. Which of course he is.

Just like anyone named Zack Ryder has to be cocky.

But yeah, Husky Harris and McGilliguty are a bit too out there.
Then again, if Hennig is apparently not that good, they maybe didn't want to tarnish the name?

If he learns and grows, they can always switch it, or give him a bad ass nickname.

Marcus Cor Von.
Tyson Tomko.

Honestly, Kevin Thorne, Vance Archer, and Mike Knox are all excellent names for gay or straight porn.

(Most of)The damn Spirit Squad were Wrestlecrap that could wrestle. I miss them. (If Mr. Perfect is Othello, Dolph Ziggler is Kimba/The Lion King. Inspired but awesome in his own way)

If Cody Rhodes has more of a struggle to make his own legacy, why is Ted the New Coke Million Dollar Man?

Is Tyson Tomko really much sillier than his real name, Travis Tomko? Some of these names are not silly, per se, just bland. Scotty Goldman, Mike Knox, Kevin Thorne and Evan Bourne, for example. Hell, Kevin Thorne is just fine for the vampire gimmick. But then when they try to come up with character names that zing they fail miserably.

I dunno. People seem to think wrestling names are easy, but the days are past where you can just call someone "The Crusher" and get away with it. And that folks are still making a big deal out of "Dolph Ziggler" is kind of silly. It's a terrible name, if all that the guy has to get over is this name, but he's been pushed and gotten over. Now the name is just that - a name. He's a great midcard heel who just happens to be called Dolph.

I was actually thinking about this earlier, how many guys just have a nickname that they use, a name that doesn't have a real name as part of it.
Rey Mysterio is accepted as a real name.
At first I could only think of The Undertaker.
But of course there's Triple H, Edge, R-Truth, Goldust, The Miz and the Big Show.
CM Punk is borderline imo for some reason.
In my mind there used to be lots more in the past.

But names are always relative in wrestling.
And can be changed depending on your push.
See John Morrison. I forgot he was the N in MNM.

And for interests sake (and those who in Canada don't want to wait until SATURDAY at 2:00am to watch it), NXT will be broadcast on THE SCORE on Thursday nights.

I'm glad, but too little too late.

Daniel Rodman was Daniel Rodimer. The guy from Tough Enough 4 who wouldn't do anything but chew gum and play with his hair through the whole thing. He only ever showed up on the main roster once, and that was the night that Vince McMahon's limo blew up, and he was backstage with the rest of the roster. Other than that, all he ever did was house shows.

Yeah, there were plans in 2007 for him to be the "Diesel" of Rated RKO and get a huge push but then he sucked too much. But he still gets lumped in with the other sports names. I wonder if the guy in developmental now named Heath Miller is named after Heath Miller.
