And thus we get the worst segment in pro wrestling this year, but it's not from WWE, it's from the NWA as Puppet pulls a FREAKIN GUN on Jeff Jarrett!! Didn't Vince Russo learn the first time when he tried this with the late Brian Pillman?! God, so much for any hopes of a national TV deal. Congratulations, Vince Russo!

Shame on Ricky Steamboat for taking a part in this segment! SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!!!!

How do you think *I* feel?! I'm paying $10 for that crap! The one week I actually decide to buy this show and it gets completely Russo-ized!

I don't think Russo had anything to do with the Pillman gun angle. I think all he was doing in 96 was writing for the magazines.

I read somewhere that the Pillman gun angle was Jake Roberts brain child (and personally I liked the angle) but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

You know I was ready to blow my 10 bucks on this show too, thank you Cablevision for not carrying this...then again bad wrestling, and angles can only make the WWE look better.

He got hit with a chair ten seconds after it. Get over it. I forgot it even happened at the end. It was only two seconds long and while I didn't like it, I half expected the "blame it on Russo" pundits/losers to say this.

This being said, a gun has no place in wrestlign storylines.

I RESPECT your opinion. Please respect mine. Or feel the wrath of Buddha!

Giving the 7/29 RAW match of Benoit/RVD 4 stars is like Whitney Houston calling Bobby Brown the "King of R&B." The "King of R&B"!? SHIT! Ribs and Barbecue! Rocks and Blunts! That match wasn't no four stars, just like he ain't the "King of R&B"! You ain't that high! Now, I'm not saying you're a crack-head. Just very...Crackish. Explain to me how a *gun* makes sense in Wrestling??

These men/midgets/women/roid ragers fight. They punch, kick, bite, suplex, arm bars(BOO) and crap like that. Wrestling must be in a bad state when they have to use a gun to get a point across!

To me it's not so much a moral problem as it just violates one of the seemingly unwritten rules about what exactly is allowed into the little hermetically sealed universe of wrestling. It's the same rule that keeps people from bringing shotguns to hardcore matches or claymores into cages. For whatever reason it's just always been that certain kinds of weaponry is just beyond the pale. Perhaps because the weapons in wrestling are not the kinds of weapons used in real life generally to commit violence, whereas guns or knives are the sorts of things you rob and/or kill someone with. As opposed to all those heinous chair shot muggings ;)

You guys should see Mr. Pogo in action in beloved Japan. Unlike Abdullah a real man who can carve wrestlers with a fork, Pogo resorts to sick stuff like sharpened kamas and ninja-to's.

So what's not acceptible then? There's really no difference between a gun and the semi that Phred mentioned in my opinion.

Regarding the vehicular manslaughter complaint some people have raised, I honestly don't see much of a difference between a gun and a semi. Which I think is why pretty much any vehicular attempted murder angle generally gets panned by most moderately intelligent people. It destroys any ability to suspend disbelief in what you're watching, is far too close to the real world (though in defense whenever those things occur they generally tend to be done in a cartoonish manner) for the comfort of some viewers, and really could be lived without quite happily. I was at the Raw where Hogan rammed Rock's ambulance, and while the crowd was molten lava hot for the in-ring portion, they seriously just deflated for the ambulance bit. Not just the "smarks" like myself, but the 14 yr old mark boys behind me going "that's stupid" throughout the whole thing. And I know they were marks since they cheered for HHH over Jericho, and no self-respecting smark would ever do that ;)

Right on my brother. Testify.

While a midget pulling a gun might seem absurd, this is freakin wrestling, not the UFC. Fans should expect to see crazy shit like this. It's entertainment and has never been anything more than that to anyone who posts on this site(hopefully-if anyone ever thought wrestling was a legit competition then they should take a real gun and turn it on themselves). Going along the same lines as the man above me wrote, what about female senior citizens getting carried out on stretchers after being attacked by 300 lb. men, what about the Warrior getting locked in a room full of FAKE snakes(fake just like that gun) and being gnawed on, what about the Steiners sicking dogs on Sting(actually a stunt man-another fake Sting), what about Eddie Gilbert throwing fireballs at people's faces(fake as well), what about Jerry Lawler,Steve Austin,Piper,Goldust getting run over by cars, what about the Berzerker trying to kill the Undertaker with a 4 foot long sword, what about The Original Sheik stabbing people with forks, knives, spikes, whatever. You could go on and on. This type of stuff has been goin on forever and probably will keep happening. It's no big frig. If you don't like it, find the good in the actual wrestling. If you don't like that either, find a new hobby.

BTW: Daytime soaps(on BROADCAST TV mind you) are rated TV-14. I should know, my fiance watches Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful everyday. There have been far more scenes with guns on those shows in one episode, than wrestling has had in its history. WWE is rated TV-14 on cable. NWA TNA is rated TV-14 as well, plus it's on pay per view. It's all entertainment. A-Team had guns, Scorpion King has swords, friggin All in The Family had rape. Oh yeah, and soaps have simulated sex that is the equivalent of HBO or Cinemax without the Tits being exposed.

Also, on Russo: most of you wouldn't have been watching wrestling if it wasn't for his storylines and characters in the WWF attitude era. Sure his WCW run sucked, but so what. WCW only had two good years in its history(89 and 96). I was freakin bored as hell with the nWo in half a year. I had to fight hard my first two years of college to convert everybody to the WWF(only one tv for 350 people). And if you guys on this site didn't convert or have an alternative to WCW then you would have stopped watching wrestling completely because that shit(WCW) has always stunk(although it usually was always so bad it was enjoyable in a bad 80's movie type of way).
