If people back then attending WCW tapings had no idea who the wrestlers were, and WCW was a pretty big company, how the hell are people gonna know the TNA guys??
Should be quite wrestle-crappy!

Like during World Wide, they'd put a bunch of maps on the wall. During Pro, they'd cover the building with bricks and stain-glass windows. And if they put the ring on that revolving platform, I'd mark out.
God, I'm a mark for the stupidest shit.

How new of an idea is a six-sided ring? I certainly can't remember one.

Those fans were the BEST. I'm almost certain there's an "applause" and "boo/thumbs down" flashing sign just off camera as the wrestlers came out. Half the crowd seems just happy to find an air-conditioned place where they can sit down and rest their feet... But I do remember once Hulk Hogan graced Worldwide with his presence, the place was absolutely joyous. The legit excitement level on the faces of people was so funny. Especially if they were expecting only the likes of Bunkhouse Buck & Prince Iaukea.
Was Worldwide ever relevant? I remember way back when I first made an effort to see WCW back in the early 90's (Black Scorpion time LoL). The show was in syndication here being shown very late Saturday Night (midnight/1am). And I felt it very important(as wrestling goes LoL) & entertaining viewing. Then they cancelled it and brought it back at Saturday afternoons (I actually wrote a letter to the channel during one of the cancellations)... I thought it was relevant up until I guess Nitro got picked up in Canada. I didn't get TBS either so for the entire early to mid/late 90s, Worldwide was it!
I hope NWATNA/Fox sports show it gets picked up in Canada, an alternative even a cheesy one, is so much needed... I do think going national and wanting to be big time that they need to drop the TNA not the NWA. TNA sounds like some sort of cheesecake wrestling federation.

They stole the six-sided ring from AAA.
Well, I mean, not literally. The idea, is what I meant to say.

During the days of Jim Crockett Promotions, Worldwide was of equal (or arguably greater) importance with Saturday Night. For an example, Windham/Flair was on Worldwide in '87. Worldwide was the show that they used as competition with WWF Superstars/Challenge, World Class or the UWF for UHF stations for syndication. Thus, they needed to throw good matches on Worldwide in order to justify not replacing it with Vince's/Fritz's/Bill's product. After Clash of the Champions began, most of the good stuff started to veer towards TBS (the Windham/Luger vs. Arn/Tully with the Windham turn happens on TBS in '88, in '87 that probably would have been a Worldwide match), and as the promotion went from Crockett to Turner, the syndicated show started to lose its importance, as Turner's primary reasoning for the product was for his own network, not to satisfy a bunch of UHF stations.
These are desperate times. And desperate times call for desperate measures. Thus, its time to break out the Cubs/White Sox/Red Sox call to put the Kaiser back on the throne. | XPacArmy
