Wow, this isn't a good sign. Here it is PPV night and no or chatter about the promotion here at all. Sure this is a very small sample, but it can't be good when the reaction keeps dropping to where it has now. Guru, seemed to be the last supporter of the NWATNA around here. Did he finally turn out the light?
To tell you the truth the reaction around a lot of the web has dwindled to next to nothing. It's very rare that you see a promotion with out someone somewhere speaking out for them, even XPW has a few. How much longer until the plug gets pulled on this one? Does anyone think there is anything that can be done to turn it around?
I love NWA:TNA, but it's taking a toll on my budget and right now, the risks outweigh the benefits. It's shame, though, because I hear tonight was a pretty good show. I didn't catch it, but I'll take a good guess at:
GOOD -Styles/Lynn: I called this one to be a MOTYC, but I haven't heard much buzz yet. I'm guessing it was probably a disappointment, but it was likely still very good. This was enough reason for me to pony up $9.95, but I just couldn't risk another week full of Russo-ized crap. But if only I knew about...
-No Dupps: I have made it known that I am NOT entertained by the Dupps. That's why it killed me to know that the one week I DIDN'T pay for this show was the week they weren't around.
-Siaki/Yang: I heard this actually DID go 2 out of 3 falls and I'm sorry I missed this. I know people see Siaki as just Rocky Lite, but I like this kid. He'll be something big someday, I just know it.
-The Truth/Monty Brown: Here's another one with the potential to be good. I wonder how this one went? Obviously, Truth had to retain or they'd risk starting a trend of quick title changes. I still think they could get mileage out of Monty Brown chasing the title, though.
BAD: -The Styles/Lynn Ending: This was supposed to be the big blowoff to the Styles/Lynn feud and it ends in a draw? If I bought this show hoping to see a blowoff, I'd be disappointed. What also didn't help was Russo's patented "shades of gray" as Low Ki came in and kicked the shit out of both guys. Who's the face again?
-MORE HARISSESSESSES: Tonight, we got another Harris brother wrestling (doesn't matter which one. They all look the same). Why promoters feel the need to put these guys on TV is a mystery to me, but to make us pay for them is even worse. And how did Brian "Underfaker" Lee get a job?! Who is HE sleeping with?!
That's all I can decipher this week. I may buy again next week to see this "Special X" edition of TNA. This is a huge gamble on their part, because once again it runs a risk of overexposing the X Division product. But the Styles/Lynn/Low Ki ladder match certainly looks like it's worth the price of admission alone.
"That's right! You suckas better FIND somewhere to run! 'cause it's me - Booker T - not only am I the Scorpion King, but I'm the five-time WCW Champion - and I got a sword, too! Now can U dig THAT - SUCKAAAAAS" -Booker T, Hollywood's next big superstar!
And that's the bottom line, because it's false! It's DAMN false!
I watched most of the show tonight, but it's not like Raw which I plan my schedule around. If I'm there I watch, and usually enjoy most of what I see. I will be planning to watch the all X-division night coming up sometime soon.
Oh, and did anyone else have the chills when Lo-ki spoke. I'd say he made a deal with the devil to get his mad skillz, but judging by the voice I think he might just be Satan himself. Good gravy was that scary!
You never know when you'll meet that special someone... the someone that's mysteriously blind to your flaws. or, you know, stupid enough not to realize that yes, you really are that cynical.

He's a Harris brother. (Brother to Ron and Don). VinnyRu always loved the Harris brothers.
I thought it was a good show, all wrestling and no BS, which is what everyone has been clamoring for. No midgets, No Ferrera (Thank God), No Disco and no Dupps.
But Loco, I agree things don't look good. They taped next week's show tonight, then the following show will just be x division matches from previous episodes with new interviews cut in. And then september 11th they're not airing a show. That means the next show taping will be September 18th! Not good.
Also, seems like they're not using anyone who costs $$$. No Hall, no Steamboat, no frickin Malice (maybe they had nothing for him?).
On the plus side, i hear they taped Red vs Kid Kash for next week, not to mention the Ki/Lynn/Styles ladder match. So I'll keep ordering, anyway.
In my mind there's nothing they can do. It's the Titanic and it's going down, down, down. I was disappointed by the amount of lackluster crap. The first few weeks it really showed potential, then everything went straight down the toilet. The only reason I'd wath now is if I could mute the picture and listen only to Don West's commentary, so I can hear him rant, laugh, and then turn it off. And I'd only pay a nickel to hear THAT.
I'm glad they got rid of Hall (didn't renew), as he and Lawler and Truth where the only three guys I cared about. After Truth won the belt the federation stopped existing right there. Truth will forever be the NWA champ in my mind. I thought the X-Division were overrated spotfest, but that's just me. I thought the initial idea of jive talkin' was funny, but the Dupps turned it into the trash it actually was. The only thing left I'll miss on the show is Goldylocks. Period.
The REAL question is, "Who Bettah Than Cory Dillon"!?
Honestly, you guys with your sinking ship talk is amazing. You don't even find out the facts. The reason there won't be any new shows in the next few weeks is because of the fair on the Nashville Fairgrounds, where they tape. In 30 years, even during Gulas and Jarrett's tenure promoting, there has never been any wrestling at the Faigrounds during the fair. And that show last night was one of the best wrestling shows I have seen in a while. It blew RAW right out of the water.
I doubt it. Maybe wrestlignwise it did, but RAW sucked this week, so who cares? It's not like they're in a ratings war with NWA TNA. I find their product to be bootleg as hell. Period. Shamrock=trash. Amazing Red=not so amazing. Low Ki=Mr Roboto (although Tajiri doesn't have shit on his kicks). AJ Styles=I hate no-selling. Jerry Lynn=Good. Jarrett=has been. I don't care if they had one good show. Is that supposed to make up for the three weeks of crap I saw? And if you don't think buyrates are going down on that show, you should go to wrestling observer and check the numbers, big hoss.

You're right the fair is the next couple of weeks.
Are you from Nashville too?
Rebecca: Oh,face it,you just hate everybody.
Enid: That's not true.I just hate all these extroverted,obnoxious,pseudo-bohemian losers.
Last night's NWA:TNA was one of the better one's so far. I really enjoyed the show.
I haven't had time to do recaps - to be honest I'm surprised I got through the two that I did (ob: I can't see how CRZ does this every week comment).
I won't get a chance to watch the tape again until tomorrow night -- and my memory is pretty hazy of the show (I was too busy worrying about Lise's plane getting in to Seattle on time, getting to the airport to drop her off, etc).
Since I'm not talking about all of the positives from last night, I really don't want to go into the negatives - but I will add that I really don't like the team of West and Tenay as they presented themselves last night. The problem is that West is eternally credulous ("What's he going to do?" "What was that?" "OH MY GOD What's going t happen?") and Tenay is left without a lot to play off of. Sure, he goes into the professor role occasionally, but West should know what the Key Crusher 99 is, and not make Tenay explain that its not a different move just because Lo Ki goes to the second rope to do it.
West needs to tone it down A LOT. Or, they need to get a heel announcer. Tenay is a great PBP guy, but West just gushes, and it doesn't add to my enjoyment. Maybe Disqo could be the heel announcer? I dunno. I'm probably in the minority, but I liked it when Crowbar announced back in WCW although the "Eh-eh" would probably get annoying after a while. If the Disciples angle gets scrapped (were they hinting dropping Mitchell last night, or was I reading into it) maybe this would be a good route? Although, Tempest has been absent from the last few shows anyway...
Does anyone know how I can find out what Goldylocks looks like. The NWATNA website isnt quite an award winning site, and lacks pictures. Actually I don't know what half the guys look like.
I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to TNA, as my provider doesn't provide NWATNA to me. I've seen parts of the recap type shows they do late at night on America One, but they're pretty bad. The regular NWA show comes on after so I at least knew who Slim J was.
WWE will never go back to the four-PPVs-per-year model. They make way, way more money from running 12-15 PPVs per year. Even a built-up, promoted PPV (so basically, a Wrestlemania) four times a year equals roughly 3.6 million buys.
