With the heart attack Jerry Lawler suffered a couple weeks ago on RAW (get well soon, Jerry!), I thought it might be a good time to share a set of videos I found on YouTube awhile back, in which Ric Flair made his first and only appearance in the Memphis studios and ended up putting the NWA World Heavyweight Title on the line against Lawler.
We see old-fashioned wrestling promos from both of them, a great match, and a complete meltdown from Flair afterwards. Good stuff!

This was a great example of how Flair could go into any town, be the heel or the face, and put the local talent over in ten minutes flat. You just do ser guys like that anymore.

The beauty of it was since Jarrett decided not to use the NWA champ after all, the shot at Flair and the title was turned into a part of Lawler/Bockwinkel when Nick was in Memphis after dropping the AWA Title to Otto Wanz (Verne, as always, in all his brilliance). In the end, Nick was Southern Champion, AWA Champion and had the shot at Flair which he would take in a location other than Memphis, thus explaining Flair not returning until '85.
