The NWA-TNA official web site is announcing that Wednesday, July 31, on their weekly Pay Per View broadcast, Scott Hall will go one-on-one in the ring against Jeff Jarrett. The last time these two met in the ring was in Week Two of the TNA promotion, taped 6/19 from Huntsville AL and broadcast 6/26 on PPV. Here are a few edited comments from CRZ's recap of that match:

Here we go! Feeling out process - and there's the toothpick toss from Hall! Man, it's STILL funny - at least it is to Hall! We wait out a "you suck" chant. C'mon, c'mon. Lockup, arm drag by Jarrett....Lockup, side headlock by Jarrett, chain wrestling to a hammerlock, Hall to his knees and Jarrett rides the back and slaps his hair playfully. He's making a statement! I guess. Jarrett stokes the crowd again. You bet, I would describe the pace as....yes, "deliberate." Man, this is slow motion in real time....Clothesline takes Jarrett outside and Hall mugs for the crowd some more....There is so little happening I can type ENTIRE sentences between moves! Right by Hall. Whip is reversed - Jarrett to the sleeper! Yikes, can you believe we're only three minutes in and these guys have gone to the sleeper? We take a long look at Keith and Fargo - and then a LONGER look at the crowd - methinks we're either doing a little editing here, or the director is *really bored* by this match....Finally, back to the ring where Hall is fading away...but before Johnson can drop his arms, now Hall is starting to shake his arms - up to a knee - no - yes - no - powers out - Hall with a sleeper of his own! Jarrett (relatively) quickly turns in and hits the death suplex to take both men down. The ten count is employed - nobody moving and now he's at 7... 8... 9... don't tell me we'll get a double countout - ha ha, right, no, Jarrett is up - fortunately, Johnson decides to avoid hitting "10" on Hall as Jarrett drapes an arm - 1, 2, kickout!...Keith is in and there's an uppernut. Hall and Keith doubleteam a faceplant - Hall covers, Keith stands over him, Johnson somehow managed to have ignored all this, comes in and counts 1, 2, 3. Brutal and plodding - I shouldn't have expected so much more from these guys...but I *did*. (7:01) *1/2

Yeah, that match wasn't great, but dammit Hall's the only over face on Jarrett's level in that company. The only thing is, Hall's not that bad in-ring. He's just better suited for Tag matches. I liked Hall/Lawler for what it was and was looking forward to Hall/K-Kwik, but it looks like that might be put on the shelf for Truth/Alpha Male. For a guy that's 45 years old Hall puts most of the people his age to shame when it comes to taking bumps, because he still can decently. He's not a great worker, but hey, like I said he's REALLY good in tags.

I got two blips on my Ha-dar. Shoot 'em down!

The next time I hear you say "glass ceiling" or you complain about someone being shoved down their throats, I'm gonna take that glass ceiling and shove it down your throat.

Hall's always been a favorite of mine. He bumps like hell for an old man, cuts a good promo, and the Edge is still a great finisher. I'd prefer to see him as a heel, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. We'll see if he can manage to stick around long enough this time.

I like Hall's run in the NWA so far. He's been pretty good on the stick when given the chance and his matches have been decent. Also, the guy just entertains me. I couldn't even tell you why. Bad punch thrown by Hall? "Man, you see that punch!? Hall's awesome!" Also, I blame the badness of the Jarrett match on Jarrett as much as Hall as Hall has had some decent matched in tags against Jarret and partner (K-Krush, maybe?) and Brian Lawler.

That was my number two complaint about the Rumble this year; the sheer numbers with 40 men led to a total lack of drama and build-up for the important eliminations.
