This is from Meltzer over at the Observer:

"As has been hinted over the past week, a lawsuit filed by Jerry Jarrett's NWA TNA promotion regarding reporting of false PPV numbers and overall marketing problems is expected to be filed as soon as tomorrow or Tuesday."

My questions are who is Jarrett suing? And on what legal grounds? Finally, wouldn't a lawsuit drain any finances, plus Jarrett's time over the NWA-TNA?

Thanks

If he feels that he's being short-changed on the PPV money, then it's certainly a battle worth fighting, since that's the main source of income for NWA-TNA. He can conceivably recoup his legal fees in the process.

It's come out that Jay Hassman, a consultant that Jarrett hired and put in charge of promotion and PPV contacts is also an employee of Team Sports, which does the same job for WWE.

There is evidence that Hassman may have deliberately sabotaged NWA TNA by improperly promoting it, buying ads on cable systems that didn't carry the show, while not advertising with those that did, and they further believe that he distorted the early buyrates so that they would continue to spend money that they couldn't recoup. He reportedly also mislead them about the clearance they had on PPV and Dish Network.

There are questions about whether or not this was gross incompetence, or deliberate sabotage.

At this time, there's no word on if WWE will be included in any lawsuit, but so far there have been no reports that they were involved.

Right now, these are all rumored accusations, and haven't been lodged officially, so we'll have to wait and see what the lawsuit actually alledges, and against whom.

But that's the gist of what Meltzer and Keller have reported in their newsletters.

If WWE gets included in any legal actions, it could further torpedo their stock price.

If Jay Hassman really did have involvement with these accusations, why would he do it? It kind of seems a little out there for WWE to be involved with a conspiracy like this. Then again stranger things have happened with professional wrestling.

But if NWA-TNA is being marketed purposely wrong like the accusations say, they should be looking into this heavily...or something...

Well, this one is certainly interesting. However, if Jarrett's smart he'll leave the WWE out of it. Even if they DID have something to do with this, and I find it hard to believe they would, involving them would just make the case harder to win.

But easier to get a larger settlement. That would certainly help make up for the lack of PPV buys.

Well if Hassman's actually doing this intentionally, and he's not working on his own (and it makes no sense that he'd do this on his own... absolutely none), you can bet HE is going to be the one to lead the trail to the ones directing him...

If they ARE even THINKING this is WWE involved in this...

Jarrett needs to fire Russo RIGHT NOW. Not because he sucks at his job, but because of the idea that Russo is actually a MASTER at his job. With the slime and sleaze in wrestling, is it really THAT big a stretch to think Russo intentionally tanked WCW? Or is intentionally tanking TNA now?

If I was Jarrett, I'd even fire Hall RIGHT NOW as well. Not to mention be VERY wary of any of these newly released developmental guys. Seriously.

Is this baseless paranoia? I don't think so. Did you see what happened in the Vince steroid trial? Something is quite fishy...

If there is proof WWE was at fault, people should short sell their stock... if I (or anyone) had began short selling when the Invasion began we would be rich right now.

Hassman also has connections with CableVision one of the largest cable suppliers that don't carry NWA-TNA PPVs. I don't think Hassman was alone, but for them to link the WWE would need quite a bit more than he worked for Team Services, which promotes WWE PPVs.

Jerry Jarrett could get REALLY lucky depending on how much money he is able to bring on this lawsuit. This incident alone can make or break the company. I wouldn't be surprised if the WWE did have something to do with this because Hassman would of had no reason to act alone, as someone mentioned earlier. Speaking of conspiracy theories, maybe the WWE guaranteed Vince Russo 100% control of the product if he helped put an end to the NWA. Vince hasn't done anything positive for the NWA in the two weeks he has been in charge of the show. As far as McMahon goes, he knows that his audience is very unstable at this time. He can't risk losing thousands of PPV buys at a time like this. On a whole, I agree that something fishy is going on here.

From the NWA-TNA official web site:

J. Sports & Entertainment LLC (JSE), announced today that they have filed suit against Jay Hassman, BTP Consulting, Len Sabal, Hassman's associate, and K-4 LLC for fraud and breach of contract with regard to their marketing and consulting services for NWA-TNA: Total Nonstop Action, the new weekly pay-per-view wrestling series.

The complaint alleges that Hassman failed to disclose his affiliation with Team Services, a company which markets the competing World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) pay-per-view programming. The suit further contends that Hassman conspired to defraud JSE by providing false information about the extent of marketing of the NWA-TNA pay-per-view programs, the availability of the NWA-TNA pay-per-view programs, and about the actual number of pay-per-view buys for NWA-TNA.

You can Click Here to read the announcement in full from the NWA-TNA site.

Cablevision is a part of Adelphia which has filed chapter 11 so in a few months all their customers will be going to Time Warner Cable and Comcast who do carry them..

What the hell do they mean, up-and-coming babyface name? I know sometimes the line between face and heel is blurry, but I was under the impression that Lesnar was a heel. Or did they mean babyface literally, as in saying that Lesnar is clean-shaven?
