(I didn't say what they were defending him about; I meant far more "he's completely worthless and TNA can't/shouldn't be wasting cash on the completely worthless" than anything else. It's a wrestling company, not a image rehab one.)
(Though the line about "never taking advanting of personal situations" was hilarious if you remember Piper still works for them and why he does.)

Good luck getting Luger to Do The Right Thing when it comes time to do the Time Honored Tradition.
Anyone remember his last WCW PPV match vs. O'Haire/Palumbo? Luger and his teammate (Buff Bagwell) jobbed in under a minute but then proceeded to no-sell the match afterward and mock their "injuries."
Hopefully all this time away from the spotlight has given Luger time to reflect... ah hell, who am I kidding?

1991, his comeuppance as the unstoppable WCW World's Heavyweight Champion, and in 1996, he co-held the World Television Title and WCW Tag Team title.
Oh, he also was the talk of the industry when he appeared on the first Monday Nitro, nine days after he left the WWF nin 1995.
1991, match of the year recipient when he and Sting took on the Steiner Bros.
1987, one of the pioneers of War Games: The Match Beyond.
AND he was rookie of the year in 1986.

I feel ya on this one, but why start with Luger. TNA's biggest problem is they make their regulars not named Jarrett look like second class citizens by bringing in old guy (legend) after old guy (legend). Why spend money on Rick Steiner, Luger, Sandman, Piper, Sabu etc when you could spend it on making your guys look better with improved production? I don't know.

Ah, those are impressive accolades that Flexy Lex Lugar has racked up since he's been in wrestling. Yet, as the NWA TNA said he's "Established" star in wrestling. So if I were him I wouldn't rest on my laurels and prove I had something left to give in his career.

And Sting was the most popular guy to be not doing anything? And Bret turned heel and Shawn stole his heat and STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN 3:16 and Luger was wrestler of the year and many people agreed (just because he held the WCW title for six days?)
Not to mention it was an Apter mag, so the decision was more about who's name benefited them more the anything else.
And, please, ignore all of that, because that was SIX YEARS AGO. It's not as though he hasn't have millions and millions of chances since then to be the slightest bit intersting and yet ?

Lex Luger had some good matches in the late 80's and early 90's thanks to being mobile and Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat and Brian Pillman. People that could carry almost anyone to a good match. Luger never improved, never tried to improve and did less and less every year from then on. Why? Because he was Lex Luger with the best body and tan in the business so he didn't have to get better. That was and is his mentality. The reason he had so many drugs was because he was trying to get as big as possible so that Vince would just HAVE to take him back!
Now Lex Luger is coming to NWATNA and hasn't meant a damn thing in about 5 years. Heck, he was about as big of a bomb as anybody in the industry in WWF. He was a bomb in the early 90's when they tried to base WCW around him.
So why is NWATNA using him? He's buddies with Sting and Jimmy Hart and hey guess who? Hulk Hogan. It's funny how Sting wouldn't return NWATNA's phone calls for months until Hogan/Hart got involved. Now he and Luger are in and probably getting more $$$ then anyone in the company even though they haven't meant anything in the longest time.
I hope Luger shows up in the same shape he was in at WWA and delivers the same performance he did there. God awful and embarassing. Just to show Jerry Jarrett what he's spending Panda's money on. | Michrome

| #18 Posted on 8.11.03 1231.50 | Instant Rating: 7.34 | Hey, let's remember that at the time of Liz's death, Luger was training hard for a tryout with Vince and the WWE. He was reportedly in great shape, and over 300 pounds.
Let's also remember that WWE saw fit to base two or three weeks of Confidential to character assassination, which gives him (a) fan "interest," whether good or bad, and (b) a chip on his shoulder, and a reason to let fly with all types of anti-WWE invective.
I personally want Luger to be an effective heel, and if the fans chant "You killed Liz," I want him to react in full heel fashion. In fact, given that his steroid issue is out of the bag, there is nothing lost by going full-bore into the "roid rage" gimmick originally intended for Scott Steiner.
And TNA also has great workers. I fully believe that Luger will try to be a professional, and therefore allow himself to be carried by the Styleses, the Danielses, and the Lynns.
In summation, Lex - Good for TNA, Sting - Good for TNA, Duggan - Not good for TNA. (But the question is, will we see Macho Man?)

Where is there ANY past precedent to be this hopeful? He literally has not had a good match in ten years. He's one of the biggest BSers in the business.
