We hit a 2004 (and possibly all-time*) record last night at 20:19:40 with *97* total people accessing the board at the same time. I blame east coasters and Mick Foley
The previous record was 86, set the previous night at 19:57:54 (aka the "people hungry for PPV results" surge)
*I've only been tracking maximum users since the server change, because previous totals may have been influenced by server lag keeping people marked as accessing the board when they really weren't

Most hits for this ENTIRE year, that's impressive!... Isn't that kinda like telling someone in early/mid January that this was the tastiest dinner you had since Christmas
Just kidding, I did notice the board was pretty packed after Raw.
(edited by Net Hack Slasher on 28.1.04 0835) smark/net attack wienerville advisory is lowered to YELLOW alert - Elevated (Due to Lesner still being champ, Benoit winning the Rumble, but HHH as champ is still a threat) 1/27
Get your WWE CD copy autographed by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Trish Stratus and Lilian Garcia after Raw... Oh MY! Christmas has come late. Can't get better then that.
Y'know, hitting a board-access record in early January is kind of like saying something's the "Movie of the Year" - and it came out in (you guessed it) early January.

Just saying, that's all.
Not necessarily. I know over at OO the number of daily posts as well as new registrees increases like crazy for late January, February and March. It's the result of everyone wanting to toss in their two cents about the Road to Wrestlemania. The rest of the year is a lot tamer. I don't know about Wienerboard, but I'm betting it's pretty similar. So spiking the biggest number in January wouldn't be that irregular.
Well, who knows why, but we hit a new all-time record tonight (at 18:37:22) with a whopping *118* sessions logged. Could it have been Goldberg spearing Austin (on the east coast)? Could it have been our extensive Grammys coverage? Could it have been another one of my wonderful ties? MAYBE ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Earlier in the afternoon, I happened to notice some unusually large numbers of chickens (48 & 36, IIRC). I was sorta wondering if there's something else analagous to a googlebot wandering around...?

It's occurred to me, too. I'll scour the logs a bit more at work tomorrow.
I think our main influx of users is actually all the *brilliant* people who have been joining from Sasknet. Apparently, most of them live in the same house, yet don't actually speak because they'd rather get on message boards and talk to each other THAT way!

excuse my ignorance, but what is a "Sasknet"?
it says so right here in the wcw handbook!
what does it take to get a higher ranking around here? i already know what it takes to get a lower one! :-P
Just for kicks, I whipped up a script to do Q'n'D DNS lookups on all the nonusers logged in at a given time. Here's a random sampling from when the index page reported "54 chickens:"
So there you go. A FEW groups of caches (AOL, Earthlink and WebTV) but most of these look like they can be identified as actual single users. I'm not sure any of these are spiders, actually.
So I guess the BIG question is: why don't you people Register and get all the cool features? I can already track you WITHOUT an id if I want, so paranoia is not an excuse!
